Celebaby: Mila Kunis Tells Fathers: Stop Saying 'We're Pregnant'!
Oh Mila Kunis, how we love you.
Not only do we love the actress / expectant mum's work but we're also applauding her for saying it how it is when it comes to being pregnant.
"The "Third Person" actress was on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on Tuesday night when the host announced that he and his wife were pregnant."
""Oh, you both hare having a baby," Kunis said flatly. "You and your wife are pregnant.""
"The 30-year-old actress then grabbed a microphone and stepped over to the stage to unleash a bit of a stand-up routine about the problem with men saying they are expecting a child."
""I'm Mila Kunis with a very special message for all you soon-to-be-fathers," she announced. "Stop saying, 'We're pregnant.' You're not pregnant. Do you have to squeeze a watermelon-sized person out of your lady-hole? No.""
What do you reckon to that?
I don't think my husband ever actually uttered the words 'we're pregnant' and I can't actually think of a single father I've ever heard use that precise phrase, but I totally get where Kunis is coming from; she resents the fact that dads present themselves as somehow fully implicated in the pregnancy experience when, as she so eloquently put it, they don't actually have to do the deed in the delivery room.
Still, I think fathers have a hard enough time knowing how to share in their partner's pregnancy so I reckon we should cut them some slack and celebrate those dads who genuinely think of themselves as pregnant too. As long as that means they're prepared to stay off the beers and support our pregnancy-induced sobriety.
If not, then nah, I don't think they should get to use the 'We're pregnant' line.
What say you on the matter? Should expectant dads be 'allowed' to say 'We're pregnant'?
