About John Lewis

John Lewis is the UK department store at johnlewis.com, selling womenswear, menswear, home and garden, furniture, electricals, baby and kids, beauty, sports and gifts across a national network of shops. The store is part of the John Lewis Partnership alongside Waitrose, backs purchases with the Never Knowingly Undersold price promise, and runs the free My John Lewis membership with monthly rewards. Shoppers can check this page for a verified John Lewis discount code before ordering.

Never Knowingly Undersold Price Promise

John Lewis checks its prices against 25 main competitors and automatically matches when a rival undercuts an identical item, and the promise also works after purchase. The key terms are:

• Retro matching: Find a better price within 7 days of placing an order, not delivery, and John Lewis refunds the difference to the original payment method.
• Identical items: The lower price must match on make, size, colour and specification, and be in stock and ready for delivery.
• Eligible rivals: Seasonal offers and promotions count, but reduced to clear, multi-buy, members-only prices, flash sales, promo-code prices and exclusive or trade prices do not, and third-party or marketplace sellers are excluded.
• Own prices: John Lewis also matches its own later price drops within 7 days of purchase.
• Where: The promise covers shops, website and app purchases, and price matching is available in store before buying.

My John Lewis Membership

My John Lewis is the free membership programme, joined online or through the John Lewis app, and rewards run monthly rather than as points. The benefits are:

• Personalised rewards: Monthly tailored rewards, competitions and member-exclusive offers and services.
• Anniversary reward: A special thank-you on the membership anniversary each year.
• Early access: New products on the app before anyone else, plus early access to sale events for members.
• Events: Home and fashion talks, beauty masterclasses, kids' crafting and tech classes.
• MyJL Beauty: A beauty community with free gifts, exclusive rewards and personalised offers.
• Perks for Parents: A child's birthday treat plus a signup reward and personalised treats for families.

John Lewis Delivery and Click and Collect

Delivery is split between smaller parcels and two-person large items, with free tiers on both. A John Lewis voucher code applies to the merchandise total before delivery is chosen.

• Standard smaller items: Free over £50, otherwise £4.50, usually within 5 working days Monday to Saturday.
• Next or named day: £7.95 for small and medium items, ordered by 8pm the day before, 7 days a week.
• Pre-11.30am delivery: £10.95 next or named day morning delivery.
• London M25 evening: £9.95 same-day evening delivery when ordered by 10am, in 1-hour texted windows.
• Large items: £19.95 standard delivery with a 10-hour slot and date picker, £29.95 next day for two-person deliveries, plus timed 4-hour and 2-hour slot upgrades at £29.95 and £39.95.
• Click and Collect: Free over £40, otherwise £2.95, from John Lewis, Waitrose and hundreds of locations, plus a Local Collection Network of convenience shops on the same terms, with next day collection at some locations.
• Approved suppliers: Selected larger items ship direct from the supplier with timescales on the product page.

John Lewis Returns Policy

John Lewis gives 30 days to return unwanted purchases in original condition with proof of purchase, for an exchange or refund. A John Lewis promo code on the original order refunds at the discounted price paid. The key terms are:

• Return window: 30 days from purchase, unused, with original packaging and labels in good condition.
• How to return: Online purchases return to any John Lewis or Waitrose shop, by post, or at Click and Collect locations, started through the account returns flow.
• Refunds: Issued within 14 days of the return arriving, to the original payment method, with gift card purchases refunded as an e-gift card.
• Faulty items: Manufacturing faults within 30 days are exchanged or refunded with proof of purchase.
• Exclusions: Opened or unsealed items beyond inspection, personalised and made-to-measure products, live plants and trees, perishables, opened software and gift cards, and hygiene items from opened beauty to earrings and mattresses.

John Lewis Payment Options

Checkout accepts the usual cards, PayPal and gift cards, with two ways to spread larger costs. A John Lewis discount code is applied to the order total before any payment plan is chosen, so the saving carries through.

• Payment plans: Interest bearing and interest free plans on eligible larger purchases, spreading the cost over fixed monthly instalments, with credit from Creation Consumer Finance.
• Partnership Card: The John Lewis credit card earns points on everyday spending, redeemable across John Lewis and Waitrose, with member offers through John Lewis Money.
• Credit disclosure: John Lewis plc acts as a credit broker and not a lender, authorised and regulated by the FCA.

How to Use a John Lewis Discount Code

Applying a John Lewis discount code at the online checkout takes just a few steps.

• Browse and add to basket: Visit johnlewis.com and add the chosen fashion, home, electricals or beauty items to the basket.
• Continue to checkout: Open the basket from the icon at the top of the site and proceed to checkout.
• Enter the code: Locate the Add a Promotional Code box on the order summary page and type the John Lewis discount code exactly as it appears, then apply it.
• Confirm the saving: Check the reduction shows in the order total before continuing to payment.
• Note: Most codes exclude gift cards and selected branded ranges, and only one code can normally be used per order.
