Amazon unveils all-new Fire 7 Kids Edition tablet

Amazon has just launched the next generation of its most affordable kid’s tablet.

The new Fire 7 Kids Edition offers a number of improvements on its predecessor, including a faster processor, 16GB of storage, a year of Amazon Fire for Kids Unlimited and a kid-proof case – not to mention a two-year guarantee – all for £99.99.

Essential reading: The best tablets for kids

The Amazon Fire for Kids Unlimited is a big part of makes this tablet such a firm favourite, as it offers access to thousands of books, audiobooks, apps, games and videos, all of which are hand selected and age appropriate.

After the first year, the subscription is charged at £1.99 per month for Prime members, and £3.99 for non-Prime members – or you can choose to cancel it if you prefer.

To ensure tablet time is used appropriately, parents are able set goals, bedtimes and time limits on the tablet, either on the device itself, or remotely via the Parent Dashboard.

You can also toggle content on and off the device, control access to the browser and get weekly activity reports to see what your kids got up to.

You can store up to two adult profiles on the tablet, and four child profiles, meaning you can have one tablet for the whole family with individual settings for each person.

To keep the 7in tablet safe from the inevitable knocks and drops, the Fire 7 Kids Edition comes with a new kid-proof case, complete with adjustable stand and choice of blue, pink or purple colour options.

Even better, if they do manage to somehow break the tablet, Amazon will replace it for free within two years.

The Fire 7 Kids Edition is available for pre-order now, and launches on 6th June.
