Anyone else left the costume to the last week and found everything worth having is either £40 or a bin bag? The Henbrandt Children's Spiderella Halloween Costume is £3.99 on Amazon, all three sizes are the same price, and it arrives the day before Halloween.
That's the 7 to 9 years. The 4 to 6 years is here for £3.99* and the 10 to 12 years is here for £3.99*, so it's the same money whichever you need. The 10 to 12 is cut for a chest of 74 to 78cm and a waist of 70 to 74cm, so measure before you pick.
It's a full length black gown rather than a tunic, with a velvet-feel bodice, gold lacing down the front and a stand-up collar that makes the whole thing look far dearer than four pounds. The skirt and sleeves are semi-sheer mesh printed with gold spiderwebs that catch the light, and the cuffs are cut into jagged web edges. There's a choker in the pack as well.
The shoes and anything else the model's holding in the photos aren't included, so it's the dress and the choker you're buying. Two practical things worth knowing: it's long, so it will get trodden on if she's running between doors on a pavement, and the label carries the usual keep away from fire warning that costumes do, so keep it clear of real candles in the pumpkin.
At £3.99 it's a school disco costume rather than an heirloom, which is exactly what I want in the week before Halloween, and I'd not be precious about the hem coming home muddy.

Delivery is free on a first order to the UK or Ireland, arriving Friday 30 October, the day before Halloween, and there's a paid option that gets it to you sooner from £4.99. Delivery is free for Prime members too.
