Sometimes you read news that you have to read over five times to believe. Asda are always the front runners when it comes to Friday so you can imagine the gasp of air I took in when I read they are not participating in Black Friday this year. Let me simplify... there won't be any stampedes, no eyeball clawing as Asda are not having ANY Black Friday Deals at all.
Here's what Asda Chief Executive Andy Clarke had to say on the matter:
The decision to step away from Black Friday is not about the event itself. Over the last two years we've developed an organised, well-executed plan, but this year customers have told us loud and clear that they don't want to be held hostage to a day or two of sales.
We can understand what they are saying but we can't help but think that perhaps it's more due to the fact to the negative press from last year, when police had to be called into supermarkets to break up fights.
Who knows? All we know is that we can't help but feel disappointed at Asda's decision, as we LOVE a bargain. I guess we will just have to make do with their Sale*.
What about you? Are you looking forward to Black Friday or will you be shunning it like Asda?
