Halloween is next week, and Dunelm have up to half price off their decorations, which is the point where I stop looking at them and start buying. The Happy Halloween coir doormat is down to £3, and it's the sort of thing that makes the front of the house look like you've made an effort when all you've done is swap the mat!
The doormat is coir with a rubbery backing so it doesn't slide about, and it's a spider web with a spider hanging over a "Happy Halloween". You shake it or brush it and that's the cleaning done. The coir doormat is here for £3*, down from £6.
For a party table, the pumpkin highball glasses are 62p each, down from £1.25, and they're proper glass rather than plastic, so they'll go through the dishwasher and into the cupboard for next year. The pumpkin highball glass is here for 62p*. I'd buy six at that money and not worry if one doesn't survive the night.
The lights are the best of the bunch. The festoon webs are £6 down from £12, 2.4 metres of string with five purple and five orange LEDs and eight different settings, so you can have them steady or flashing depending on who's coming round. They're fine outdoors as well as in, so they can go along the fence or over the door. The festoon webs string lights are here for £6*, and you'll need batteries for them. The pack of 5 hanging pumpkin lights is here for £7.50*, down from £15, and those are the ones that look like pumpkins floating in the window.
For the table, the black LED dinner candles are £2.50 down from £5, and they're the trick of getting the gothic look without a flame near anything papery, which matters with a room full of children in costumes. The set of 2 LED black dinner candles is here for £2.50*. The 1m spider's web is £4.50 down from £9 and is battery lit, the spider's web is here for £4.50*, and the pumpkin plush is £2 down from £4, which is party bag money. The pumpkin plush is here for £2*.
The kids' oversized hoodie is £7 down from £14 and it's the one thing here that gets worn after the 31st. It's a soft oversized fit with pumpkins, ghosts and a skeleton cat printed on it, and it's the hoodie they'll pull on over pyjamas for a Halloween film. The Halloween oversized hoodie is here for £7*.
The piece I'd actually spend on is the pumpkin velvet footstool, £27.30 down from £39. It's the one thing in the sale that isn't disposable, because a velvet footstool in the corner of a living room works all winter, and the pumpkin shape is daft enough to be fun in October and plain useful by January. The pumpkin velvet footstool is here for £27.30*.
There's plenty more in the sale than the bits I've picked out, including plenty of the small clearance decorations at £2 and £2.50, and the further the reductions go the more it's the last of the stock, so the pickings get odder but the prices get better.
Standard delivery is £3.95, or free when you spend £60, and click and collect from your local store is free.
