Anyone with kids will know the stage where everything has to be a secret, and this VTech notebook is £8.99 at Amazon. It's £9.47 on the page and there's £0.48 off at the checkout, which brings it to £8.99. It's still much more elsewhere. It's a proper locked diary too, because they set their own number passcode and nobody without it can get in.
They pick the passcode themselves, so it's their code rather than one you have to remember for them, and there are 30 pages inside to fill. The pen is an invisible ink marker and the notebook has a UV light on it that brings the writing back up, so even someone who got the cover open would just see blank pages. There's a little secret compartment in there as well for the bits they don't want you finding.
Alongside the diary there's a memory game where you follow a number sequence, plus music, a lucky number of the day and a daily fortune, so it does a bit more than sit in a drawer. VTech put it at ages 6 to 11, and if you've a birthday before Christmas it works just as well for that as it does under the tree.
There's a wait on delivery, with it showing 17 to 26 November, so it's one to grab now.
Delivery is free for Amazon Prime members. Non-members get free standard delivery on orders over £35, otherwise it's £4.99.
