Cold mornings are back and I've been after a jacket that's warm without being a full winter coat. The Peter Storm Men's Blisco II Hooded Jacket is down to £10.97 at Millets, and code 20OFF takes another 20% off at checkout, which brings it to £8.78.
It's an insulated mid layer rather than a shell, with 160g of recycled synthetic filling quilted into horizontal baffles, so it's the jacket for a cold dry day or under something bigger when it really turns. The outside is lightweight nylon with a water repellent finish, which handles light rain and snow but won't stand up to a proper downpour, so I'd treat it as weather resistant rather than waterproof.
The hood is grown on rather than attached, with elasticated binding round the edge and the cuffs so the wind doesn't get in, and the hem has a drawcord you can pull in. There are two hand warmer pockets and a full length zip down the front, and it's a regular fit, so it layers over a fleece without going tight across the shoulders.
At £8.78 it's cheap enough to be the jacket that lives by the door for the school run and the dog walk, and if it gets covered in mud you won't be fussing over it. Worth knowing it's the dark grey in this link, and the page has it in other colours too, though I've only checked the price on this one.
Standard delivery is £3.99, or free when you spend over £70, and click and collect is free.
