When my daughter was little she absolutely adored Julia Donaldsons brilliant childrens books. One of her favourites was this Fox's Socks board book, I've just snapped one up for my nephew as it's a bargain at only £3 at Amazon.
What I love about this range of board books is that they are all lift-the-flap books, which are perfect for younger readers.
