The Terrain Turbo 16" Kids' Mountain Bike has a lightweight 9" Steel frame (apparently). Hopefully, lighter than the ones I bought my boys from Halfords, they feel like solid lead. Your young un should be able to stop with no problems thanks to the front and rear V-brakes.
