It's Here, The John Lewis Christmas Advert 2017 Is Here!

John Lewis Christmas Advert 2017 Is Here!

Look what @johnlewisretail said on Twitter on Thursday morning...

We'll soon be sharing our Christmas ad with you right here on Twitter, stay tuned...

Eek. I can hardly contain myself... Anyone else frantically refreshing Twitter and getting nothing productive done?

No? Just me. As you were...

I *bet* there'll be tears before bedtime though, even for those of you who claim not to care about such things...

EDITED TO ADD... Eagle-eyed shoppers have spotted Monster Under The Bed toys for sale in John Lewis stores. Looks like there's going to be a missing sock under the bed theme to this year's ad...

EDITED AGAIN TO ADD... According to The Star, the ad cost £7m and features Moz, an "easy-going beast lives under the bed of a boy called Joe who can’t sleep because he is afraid of the dark". Aw! The theme song is a Beatles classic, Golden Slumbers, covered by Elbow.

EDITED *AGAIN* TO ADD: Ok, now it really *is* here! Watch the John Lewis Christmas 2017 Advert here!

And the merchandise is just as cute as the advert. Check out the Moz The Monster Plush Toy for £20 with a 10% charity donation, and check out all the other fun you can have with Moz the Monster here.

We'd love to hear your thoughts on the John Lewis Christmas 2017 advert. Come and join the conversation over on our Facebook page!

Don't like it, it just seems like an excuse to flog Moz the monster :weary:

  • Amy F.

It's no Bear & the Hare or Monty the Penguin.

  • Cath F.

Feel sorry for the parent that are trying to reassure their young children there are no such thing as monsters under the bed

    • Cath F.

My 2 1/2 has woken the last few nights dying there's monsters under her bed. Will make sure she doesn't watch this advert

    • Siân S.

Empty spray bottle decorate the bottle with the title 'monster spray! fill with water and something to scent it or use ironing water. Before the kids go to bed spray the spray round the room for 'added protection' depends how old they are though x

    • Vikki T.

There's a monster in my book by Tom Fletcher is brilliant

  • Cheryl C.

Rubbish how is it to do with xmas

  • Alison C.

Not had chance to watch it yet but I’ve heard it’s not sad. Surely the point is to be a real tear jerker!!

  • Lynn N.

Haha I must be full of birthday happiness today that even that couldn’t change it. I actually really like it, it’s lovely - I like the message that the monster under the bed isn’t scary but just wants to play. Xx

  • Jacqueline P.

I love the aldi one with kevin the carrot..its so funny. Even the book the lady carrot is reading is called 9 1/2 leeks. :joy::joy::joy:

    • Lynsay H.

I think it’s funny too as do my kids :joy::joy:

  • Tammy P.

Poor Moz....... He was fab...... How can they make such a cute monster just dissappear.. Soooo :pensive:

  • Jo S.

Not very christmasy but least he's swearing at him lol :) even with the swearing i think M&S could have won it this yr xx

  • Hayley M.

2013 is still the best. X

  • Lynsay H.

  • Laura W.

  • Kelly J.

  • Lee B.

Oh, hey JL, thanks so much for introducing the concept of a monster under the bed to my almost 4 year old! That's sure to go well!

    • Laura W.

      There's always one! Happy Christmas

    • Fliss D.

I actually agree with Lee. My son has never thought about monsters under the bed before but knowing him this will now become a problem. I’ll just have to make sure he doesn’t pay too much attention to the advert.

    • Louisa Y.

has he never watched monsters inc???

    • Lee B.

No, she hasn't, for the very same reason.

  • Pauline L.

    Monsters under the bed ???

  • Jade R.

I love it. My nearly 3 year old does too. Y does a monster under the bed have to be scary? Y cant it be cuddly and cute like this one. Good job john lewis

  • Paula E.

Well I really like it!

  • Helen E.

Ok but love a Christmas ad all the rest been more festive

  • Kathleen B.

"Merry Christmas son, we've destroyed your imaginary friend."

  • Karen M.

I'm not sure...I have mixed feelings! Why does Moz have to leave? It's like Pete's dragon all over again  I love the pyjamas! I have them in my basket trying to hard not to check out!! lol!

  • Cathryn M.

It’s ok but that’s about it. Not like past years. The fake one that came out last year by that boy was better.

  • Becci .

    Awh it’s cute :heart_eyes::cry:xx

  • Stephen B.

Ok so that did make me shed a little tear, but that could be my hormones at the minute :joy::joy: I’ll have to watch a few more times before giving my final judgment

  • Kirsty D.

Hmm no tears but very cute!

  • Kelly V.

I can’t watch it yet, I’m at work and don’t want to cry here!! Xx

  • Jo K.

I hate it. Sorry. Doesn't give me a Christmas feeling which is part of the magic these ads are meant to create. Nice ad, but not for Christmas

  • Sarah M.

I love it i need to get bills the monster & jim jams x

  • Michelle P.

Nice ad but not what I’ve come to expect, tad disappointing!

  • Lorna F.

Don't like monsters under the bed even if they are friendly. Horrible advert. The penguin one was by far the best and the animals on the trampoline was good

  • Laura W.

Why do I read these posts? Cute kid, lovely song, a CHRISTMAS TREE, CHRISTMAS LIST WRITING,CHRISTMAS PRESENTS. Nah not very Christmassy. Some random man stuck on a moon was far more Christmassy  Happy Christmas keyboard warriors X

  • Jules M.

Very mixed response. Not a huge fan. You spend so much time saying there's no monsters n boom. John Lewis bring it all back for kids :persevere:

  • Kirsty D.

At least it’s a cute, nice monster :joy:

  • Laura D.

Awch that was quite disappointing. It’s the one advert I look forward to seeing every year :weary: x

  • Kelly M.

I was all excited lol sat with brody to watch it and she was saying it’s a koala Mum not a monster :joy: x

  • Isobel M.

No it didn’t do it for me, sorry. Kids do get the idea of monsters beneath their bed and it keeps them awake through fear ( even though I get this is a friendly one). Not Christmassy enough.

  • Nicola W.

    Omg that was so cute:cry::sparkling_heart::sparkling_heart:

  • Leanne R.

Not very ‘christmassy’ tho, is it?

  • Courtneyy P.

    Other one was better :rolling_eyes::rolling_eyes:xxxxxxxx

  • Sarah E.

I dislike it for many reasons. On a side note I feel for the parents who have been trying to convince their children there is no such thing as monsters underneath their beds because if they watch this advert they'll start believing in it again.:pensive:

  • Louisa Y.

My 4 year old loved it!as for scaring kids into thinking monsters live under the bed,I think people need to get a grip and maybe loosen the cotton wool wrapped round their children!my daughter asked if we could find a monster like moz to live under her bed after watching this.give your children more credit!!!

    • Jade R.

Bet most of the complainers have watched disneys monsters inc with their children. Same concept. I love it x

    • Louisa Y.

Jade Rowe monsters inc is practically a horror film haha x

  • Chloe C.

Wish the monster that lived under my bed as a kid was this fun and cute... thanks for the idea about friendly monsters! We've been fighting monsters for 5 years on and off nothings worked, shal try make it friendly fir the kids and see how that goes :) not Christmasy enough though!!

  • Emma L.

2010- a tribute to givers ( dog kennel with lights and antlers on) 2011-the long wait ( kid can’t wait for his Mum & dad to open presents) 2012- the journey ( snowmen) 2013- the bear and hare 2014- Monty the penguin

  • Abbie M.

    Not rlly Christmassy tho xxx

  • Jan N.

Shame about last Christmas but very sweet :tada::christmas_tree::santa_tone1:

  • Tina C.

Not as good as previous years lacks Christmas for me and monsters under the bed really ???? Some people have kids that fear this and spend ages reassuring them . Better luck next year .

  • Julie B.

little disappointed this year:smirk: more awww:hugging: instead of omg awww:sob:

  • Elaine K.

John Lewis, you’ve lost your respect of having the best Christmas advert. In previous years, it’s nice to feel emotional at how beautiful the stories are. #notissuesneeded2017johnlewis

  • Lucy H.

Need to hunt down the bloody light now?!

  • Hayley M.

Everyone moaning about monsters under the bed when Disney monsters inc is one of the top films for kids :joy:

  • Karen R.

    Yeah! Sorely let down :pensive:

  • Hannah G.

John Lewis always get it right! Xx
