I think playing in sand is one of those childhood things you never grow out of; it doesn't matter whether it's messing around with sand on the beach or digging around in a sandpit, I still love it.
I wonder if it's because playing with sand is reminiscent of days on the beach that does it? Whatever it is, sandpits are always a big hit with kids and the nice thing about having your own is this - you know what, and who, has been digging in it.
This Plum wooden sandpit will arrive in pieces, so you'll need to have your screwdrivers at the ready. The four sides have rounded corners for safety, and are made from FSC® certified timber. The base is a ground sheet that will suppress weeds from growing through the bottom, but will let water out. It also comes with a protective cover for when it's not being played in.
It doesn't come with sand - sand pits rarely do! The official spiel states you'll need about 60kg of sand to fill it nicely, an alternative is to fill it with plastic play balls and use it as a ball pit instead.
