Colin And Connie Are Getting Hitched! (Yes, They're Cakes)

I'm either really out of touch (quite possible) or just really late to this party, but it seems I am the only one in the PlayPennies office who didn't know, when the topic of conversation was Colin the Caterpillar, that the team were talking about a cake.

But it seems Colin is indeed everyone's favourite caterpillar cake. (He could be the *only* caterpillar cake, for all I know.) ANYWAY, today's big news is...

DRUMROLL PLEASE...

Colin the Caterpillar is marrying his long-term girlfriend Connie. (Nope, didn't know about her, either.) Yes, still talking about a pair of cakes.

Evening Standard reports:

'The celeb cake icons have enjoyed a whirlwind romance in front of the public eye - and Marks & Spencer is celebrating the news by releasing limited edition bride and groom iterations of the party-loving pair.'

The blushing bride and groom apparently sport matching wedding rings (I'm not even going to ask how a caterpillar wears a wedding ring, we're talking about cake, remember...)

If you fancy getting your hands on the matrimonial make-over versions of Colin and Connie, you'll have to have a spare £50 burning a hole in your pocket. And yes, that's per cake. The standard versions cost £35.

Colin and Connie are both covered in milk chocolate and decorated with milk chocolate beans and a white chocolate face. Colin sports a bow tie, top hat and edible confetti, while Connie is filled with strawberry-flavour buttercream and is decorated with an edible lace veil, flower posy and heart confetti.

Both cakes serve 40 portions and are available for pre-order with a first collection date of 23rd February. Click here to pre-order yours.

We can't WAIT for the caterpillar babies... just sayin'.
