Hundreds of farms all over the country will open their gates
FREE Events On Open Farm Sunday 9th June 2019

Sunday 9th June 2019 is this year's Open Farm Sunday, an annual national event where working farms all around the country open their doors to visitors, many of them for free.

This has been a hugely popular event with families the past few years, and if you haven't been before then don't miss it!

There are going to be hundreds of different events from farm walks though to full open days, and you can find out what your local farms have planned on the link below.

Open Farm Sunday

There will be a variety of activities on offer to show families what life on a farm is like, and the majority of events are free of charge, though some will charge a small fee. Activities during the day might include a farm walk, nature trail, tractor and trailer rides, pond dipping, activities for children, a mini farmers market or picnics, though as every farm is different the days at each one will be too.

You do need to check on the website to see which farms near you are participating, if any entrance fees apply and for timings, and a few farms are opening on different dates rather than the national day next weekend.

Open Farm Sunday looks like a fantastic opportunity for children to see what goes on at farms, and also to learn more about where their food comes from. Chuck in plenty of fresh air to tire out those kids, mud, animals and tractors and it looks like a great day out. Have fun!

Open Farm Sunday Photo Competition

As well as lots of open farm events, there will be a Farm Sunday photo competition. Take lots of photos from your LEAF Open Farm Sunday event, and enter this year’s photo competition on Instagram using @OpenFarmSunday within your post. There are four £25 Asda gift cards being given away. All entries must be on Instagram before 23rd June 2019.
