My goodness, I LOVED Top Gun when I was 14 and I couldn't even begin to guess at how many times I've watched it in my lifetime. My grandfather flew in Lancaster bombers during the Second World War and his tales of flying were always a great source of fascination for me.
And so it was when it was time to talk to my careers advisor, and I said I wanted to be a fighter pilot in the RAF that he came back with, "That's nice, Sarah. Have you considered working in a bank?"
It's just occurred to me that there may be some people in the world who haven't seen Top Gun, if you're one of them sorry about waffling on: Top Gun is a story about two friends who fly jets fighters. That's about it! There's no complicated plot, it's full of cliches, full of drama and lines like: "I feel the need.....the need...for SPEED!" along with a fair few high fives and mirrored aviator shades. Awesome!
I'm sure you don't really want to pay an additional £2.95 to have Asda deliver your Top Gun DVD, unless it was going to be in a jet fighter - so instead, just pop along to your local Asda and collect it.
