What's Your Favourite Christmas Tradition?

What's Your Favourite Christmas Tradition?

I might have already mentioned that I am a sucker for Christmas. I love absolutely everything about it but I don't mind admitting that my very favourite tradition is probably one you've never heard of. That's because my son and I started it. That's right.

It doesn't even have a name but every Christmas Day for the past few years my son and I take ourselves outside to dance in the street. It started with a brisk walk to the beach one year when, having cooked a gargantuan feast for all the family, I was in dire need of a blast of fresh sea air to blow my cobwebs away after spending most of the day in the kitchen.

For some reason we walked down the middle of the road, just because we could. It was *that* quiet in our little town as darkness started falling on Christmas Day. Now, my son starts asking if we'll be doing our Christmas Day street dance again before it's even December. It's totally our thing.

I also love that point on Christmas night when it's all done. The presents are unwrapped, the dinner's been eaten, the kitchen chaos has been cleared away and all that's left to do is relax. I like nothing better than cosying up by the fire with my new Christmas slippers (yes, that's another Christmas tradition in our house) with nothing more to do but hunker down and enjoy the moment. Hopefully you're relishing that moment yourself right about now.

But enough about me. What's your favourite Christmas tradition? What does it mean to you, how did it come about and how do you intend to keep it going this year? Leave us a comment here or come and join the conversation over on our Facebook page.
