Most Popular Baby Names For 2018 (Stormi Isn't On The List...)

Kim and Kanye went with North and Chicago, Kourtney and Scott plumped for Reign, and now Kylie and Travis have a little Stormi.

Don't worry, I'm not about to lay into the Kardashians for their, um, unconventional choice of baby names. We've all heard the are-they-all-named-after-a-weather-report jokes – but it seems those aren't the only unusual monikers we could get used to hearing this year.

According to Metro, some pretty quirky names will also be big in 2018.

But if Kylie is in need of inspiration, or anyone other than the Kardashian-Jenners happens to be having a baby, send thanks to NetMums for bringing us some inspiration. The parenting website has put together a list of baby names they reckon will be BIG in 2018. Some things to note: The gender neutral name trend is still going strong, with Henley, Dalston, and River making an appearance, while royal inspired names continue to be popular.

And here's the full list from Netmums:

Hettie
Quinn
River
Aria
Arlo
Willow
Otis
Sylvie
Milo
Emilia
Theodore
Grayson
Nora
King
Nova
Mason
Layla
Fox
Maya
Axl
Thea
Marcel
Lola
Henley
Rex
Harri
Blaine
Dalston

Hmmm. I quite like some of these. I already know a few Emilias and they're all nice kids. That can't be a coincidence, surely.

Harri, though? Not sure about that one. Fox and King wouldn't be making it onto my list either but I do quite like Arlo and Nova.

I'm a fan of unconventional names though. All three of my kids have names that mean they're the only kind in their class with that name, and thus far that's something they're happy about. We're not talking bonkers names, just ones that mean they don't end up being called Rachel G to differentiate themselves from all the other Rachels in their year at school.

With a name like Heidi, I got used to a similar deal. I liked being the only Heidi in my class and didn't even mind all the 'Where's Peter / your grandfather' or 'Hi-de-Hi' jokes I had to endure when I was growing up, either.

But we'd love to hear your thoughts on this story. What do you think of the names on the list, and have you chosen any of them for your kids? Leave us a comment here or come and join the conversation over on our Facebook page.

I was the only Emily in my school in the 80s and 90s and even though people said it was an old lady name, i still loved my name and look now...so many little Emily's running around!

My grandson is at school with an Arlo and Fox (has a brother called Felix). It’s ok to be different.

Wouldn’t even call my dog any of these names
