8 Of The Best Children’s Craft Sites

Crafting with kids can be enormous fun, but often busy parents don’t have the time to figure out cool crafts or go hunting across the web for craft patterns and ideas. It can be also quite hard to be super creative when you’re tired and fed up. Fortunately there are people out there who are enormously creative and talented and who have kindly put up blogs for us to visit, use and admire. Here are my top eight children’s craft sites…

1. Nick Jr Crafts

This site has the benefit of being populated with content by paid-for craft geniuses and it shows. There are some utterly gorgeous crafts on offer including the Dora the Explorer door sign and the Peter Rabbit mobile. They are all quite easy to make (well, most of them are) and the range of ideas on offer is nothing short of brilliant.

I highly recommend this as a craft stop for parents with kids that are younger than six, although there are older type crafts here, the majority are on the level with Dora the Explorer.

2. Disney Fun Family Crafts

Again, I am giving a place to a sponsored/branded site. Sorry about that, but they really are awesome. The Disney site tends to have crafts that are more themed towards events and the seasons, like the DIY Easter crafts that include bunny faces for kids shoes.

This site is also great for kids of all ages as even older kids will enjoy making rugs and gifts and cards. My personal favourite, and something that is now sitting in my To Do Queue, I the Hula Hoop Rug. Whoever came up with this idea is a total hero in my book. Not only do you make a cool rug with an old hula hoop, but you use up tatty old t-shirts too! DO  IT TODAY!!! http://spoonful.com/crafts/hula-hoop-rug

3. Martha’s Crafts For Kids

Yes, this site is a favourite, sorry. How can you resist when the Martha Stewart site has everything for everyone. You won’t find a craft section on a par with the Disney site here, but there are cute, themed ideas on tap that are regularly updated. I enjoy the simplicity of the crafts on offer and my daughter tends to drive what we make when we visit this site.

4. Danielle’s Place

Here is a craft bible. A craft palace. A craft smorgasbord. Crafts are categorised by type, mood, item, educational level and theme. You can search alphabetically or you can search by idea, and the volume of craft ideas is astonishing. If none of the other sites you have visited so far have even touched a nerve, then this is a place you can stop and stay for a while. Actually, you can probably just do all the crafts here for their entire childhood!

5. RedTedArt

Oooh, this site makes me drool. The landing page alone is dripping with craft patterns and projects that will make even the most tentative of crafter happy. I also really like the fact that this site is by a mom who took her passion for crafting and made something utterly magic out of it. I take my hat off to her and her awesome crafts.

To get you in the Easter mood, why not make her adorable Easter baskets? These are already being prepped for our To Do list today as we definitely need some Easter sparkle in our home.

6. Tinker Lab

The name of this site is as cool as the projects inside. I look at the photo of their house and I want to move in today. My home always looks messy and mad, this looks creative and inspired. She offers superb advice and ideas and they are always worth trying out.

7. The Chocolate Muffin Tree

Is it wrong to be so very jealous of people like this lovely lady who have such extraordinary talent, and who manage to make a blog sound edible? I don’t think so, I think it might be a huge compliment. Anyway, this blog is packed with tasty ideas for you and your lovely kids.

8. Crafts by Amanda

Amanda is talented and she also creates craft ideas that are perfect for kids and parents. Your kids can dive in and make coloured Easter eggs or placeholders while you carefully craft vintage wildflowers on wood or a shamrock tree. There is something for everyone here!
