Julia Donaldson's 'The Highway Rat' TV Show Announced

The animated versions of Julia Donaldson tales has become a wonderful part of the Christmas Day telly tradition, and it's just been announced that 'The Highway Rat'*is in production already and due to hit our screens for Christmas 2017.

If you're a fan of this "swashbuckling tale of bandits and biscuits" then you may have seen the announcement on the BBC website revealing next year's TV special.

There's few details released yet, but it's from the same team that brought us the brilliant adaptations that have enthralled kids each Christmas. So far there's been animated versions of The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo's Child, Room On The Broom and last year's was the wonderful Stick Man.

Each has had big stars to voice the characters, and the animation has been very faithful to the original artwork from the books, so I can't wait to see who's voicing The Highway Rat. There's been no one announced as yet, but I can't help speculating who would be the greedy Rat and the clever Duck.

I am wondering how this cautionary tale of greed and craving for sugary treats is going to go down on Christmas Day when we have all stuffed ourselves silly with festive goodies though!

"Give me your buns and your biscuits!"
