Sure it's basic but it can be tarted up with a bit of sticky back plastic, like this stuff from B&Q*. It's not offensive looking in the slightest and as it's so neutral will fit in with most decors.
It's on castors so it can be moved around the house with ease, providing nothing is plugged in. There's a pull out shelf for a keyboard to sit. These are designed with desktops in mind but it can easily be used for a laptop.
