Hitachi HCD1097 10MP Digital Camera £68.99 @ Argos (RRP £179.99)

11 January 2010

baby At £68.99 instead of £179.99 this deal seems like a pretty reasonable saving on this Hitachi digital camera.

Now, I know cameras aren't for kids and this deal might not immediately be the obvious thing to post on Play Pennies but if you're expecting a baby, a decent digital camera is right up there near the top  of the list of new parent must-haves.

We splashed out on a decent camera when my son was a few weeks old and it's probably one of the best investments we've ever made. 5 years on it's still going strong and we have no reason to upgrade it yet. As new parents you tend to take literally hundreds of photographs of your precious bundle, and I can vouch for the fact that relatives, especially Grandparents, will appreciate you emailing weekly snaps, especially if they're too far away to witness first-hand how the baby changes from week to weecamerak.

I can't vouch for the quality of this camera but there are 15 reviews from Argos customers so do check out what they have to say about it. It's been rated 4.3 stars out of a possible 5 so all in all it looks like a fairly decent purchase at a nice price.

Are they made by Hitachi or badged? I purchased one a few years ago and swiftly sent it back. It was a pile of junk. The camera would use AA batteries and even even branded fresh ones would last no more than 1 hour. Hitachi cameras at the time were only easily available from Argos. I don't know if that is the case now. Save your money buy a better camera.
