Bought your Christmas tree yet? Well before you do, check out this fabulous deal from IKEA. When you buy a real Christmas tree for £25 from IKEA you'll get a FREE £20 voucher to spend in store. So it's kinda like your tree will only set you back a fiver AND you'll get an armful of goodies from IKEA to boot. Kinda.
We've just been debating the merits of a real Christmas tree over the money-saving benefits of a fake tree here at Playpennies towers. Personally I can't see the point of a fake tree. Half the joy of a Christmas tree is the smell of it filling your house throughout December, and I'd rather forego a tree altogether than tolerate a plastic one just for the sake of saving a few quid.
Plus, with this IKEA deal you get all the benefits of a real tree but with minimal unnecessary spend-age. I plan to restock my tea towel drawer with my voucher and maybe even treat myself to a plate of meatballs while I'm at it.
One of our gang, however, assures me that her other half's determination to save money by insisting on a fake tree is worth putting up with, on the basis that - despite being so misguided when it comes to Christmas trees - he does have other gifts and talents that utterly redeem him. And you can't argue with that.
To get your voucher you have to purchase a real Christmas tree from IKEA between 28th November and the 21st December. The £20 voucher can be spent in-store between the 19th January and 8th February 2015.
While you're there, check out the Christmas tree decorations too. I totally love these little Santa Claus ornaments, and, best of all, you get 10 of the little darlings for just £1.50.
So no prizes for guessing where we're going today... Meatballs, I'm coming to get you!
