Would You Have Your Placenta Made Into Artwork To Hang On Your Wall?

19 May 2016
Placenta Art, Anyone?

The whole what-to-do-with-your-placenta thing is a well-worn debate that I have no intention of stirring up - I'm firmly in the no-thank-you-I'd-rather-have-some-tea-and-toast camp when it comes to the possibility of having my placenta made into capsules to eat -but the concept of having it made into art is a completely new one on me.

And yes, I'm going to admit that I think it's weirdly beautiful.

Metro reports:

First-time mum Michelle Amaya-Schmidt chose to decorate her son's nursery with prints of her afterbirth. She created the artworks with the help of her doula, Alyssa Hope, who placed the still-wet placenta onto crisp white paper, let it sit for a few moments, then lifted it off to reveal an abstract, artfully smeared imprint. Michelle was able to take home five prints to hang around the house.

So what do you think? Is this something you'd ever consider doing with your placenta? We'd love to hear your thoughts - leave us a comment below or join the debate over on our Facebook page.
