Boots have a buy one get one half-price offer running on selected Lindam baby gates and playpens at the moment.
Baby gates are a necessary piece of kit and you will need more than one. We had several in between door frames and blocking the way up and down the stairs for years - not just when the kids were small, but they're also rather handy for keeping dogs out, or in, rooms; at least they were until Cypher learned he could very neatly just jump over them all.
There are lots of styles of Lindam baby gate for you to choose from: white ones, extending ones for wider than average door frames, wooden ones (I like those) and travel ones - which are very handy if you go away a lot.
