Here's another date for your diary: this year's World Book Day is on March the 5th. Apart from the rummage for children's costumes one of the great things about it is the special editions of children's books that are issued especially for the event, and all of them are just £1 each. They aren't big hefty tomes, but a taster of an author's style, that will hopefully get children interested in reading more, and get reluctant readers engaged.
If your school is taking part then your child will likely receive a £1 voucher on the day which can be redeemed for one of the World Book Day books, or against any other book that they wish to purchase.
Tesco Direct and Amazon have already started pre-orders for some of the titles, and this is a good idea if you want a specific one, as the most popular books always sell out really quickly.
Some of the most popular are likely to be Elmer's Parade, Geek Drama, and The Dinosaur That Pooped A Lot. There are books suitable from all ages from 2 up to teenagers, and you can find the full list and more details on the official World Book Day website here.
