SAFETY RECALL: Costco Recall Hoverboards Over Unsafe Plugs

There have been rising safety fears over Hoverboards or Swegways, and today Costco have issued a safety notice for boards sold in it's stores as they have the wrong plugs attached and could pose an electrocution risk.

Costco are concerned about some of the £400 Air Runner boards, and UK customers have received letters containing photos of the affected plugs and been warned not to use them.

In the letter sent to the registered address of Costco account holders the company state:

We go to great lengths to ensure the merchandise we sell reaches the highest standards in safety and quality. We are concerned that some of our Air Runners may have an incorrect mains plug. If used, there could be a risk of electrocution.

Consumers have been sent a replacement lead and plug and been advised to destroy the old lead.

Costco have also offered a full refund to anyone who is unhappy with the product.

Although the Costco website has information of the recall as they have been contacting customers direct you can read about the recall and see a copy of the letter here.

These 'must have' hoverboards and swegways have been blighted by safety concerns recently, and if you want to know more then read Heidi's blog on Hoverboard Dangers here for more information.
