Safety Notice: Bednest Bedside Crib & NCT Bednest Bedside Crib

Do you have a Bednest Bedside Crib or know anyone who does? There have been some safety concerns raised about it with "a small but plausible risk that an infant could move onto or over the side of the crib and suffer injury or death" due to the height of the adjustable sides. Understandably this is going to be a huge concern for parents, so the manufacturers have made a modification kit that is available to customers to address the issue of risk due to the height of the adjustable sides.

In the mean time you can still continue to use the Bednest but please follow this important safety advice from the company: "As a precaution, Bednest is making a modification kit available which prevents the folding panel being left in the half-raised position. In the meantime, do not use the folding panel in the half-raised position - only fully raise or fully lower the side panel."

If you have a Bednest Bedside Crib you should contact the company direct to obtain your modification kit, and you can do that on their website here. There is lots more information there on what the kit includes, how to fit it and how to ensure that you are using the Bednest safely.

You can read the Safety Notice on the Trading Standards website here, and it follows below in full:

The following notice has been issued by the manufacturer:

ATTENTION! PRODUCT SAFETY NOTICE – PRODUCT MODIFICATION REQUIRED

Products: BEDNEST BEDSIDE CRIB & NCT BEDNEST BEDSIDE CRIB

Some concern has recently been raised by some UK experts about the height of adjustable sides of bedside cribs for infants as their capacity for movement increases. The concern is that there is a small but plausible risk that an infant could move onto or over the side of the crib and suffer injury or death on the side panel if the panel is left in the half raised position and the product is not used in accordance with the instructions.

As a precaution Bednest is making a modification kit available to customers to address this concern, details below. All deliveries of new or rental product ordered from our website will also incorporate the modification from today.

The Bednest had been certified by independent testing authorities to the relevant Standards* in the UK and Europe. In addition the Bednest had passed the very latest U.S. Standard* for bedside cribs, which specifies a minimum height for adjustable sides. Nevertheless because this minimum height is being questioned we feel it prudent to make this modification.

Please always follow the instructions in the latest User Guide, updated in light of the modification, which is available for download from our website www.bednest.com
