princess It just goes to show how busy I’ve been that I had no clue that Disney were unleashing an entirely new princess on us all. While I know that this isn’t exactly groundbreaking stuff for the average human, for those of us with princess-mad daughters it’s a revelation. Another movie to break the tedium of endless Cinderella, Snow White, Beauty & the Beast repeats...

Ok, so what is the deal here exactly? What princess, what frog and what story? Set in New Orleans, this children’s musical is all about classical Disney themes and music and animations. The film teams Ron Clements and John Musker, creators of The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, with Oscar-winning composer Randy Newman to tell the most beautiful love story ever told...with frogs, voodoo and a singing crocodile...

princess2Based on the book by E.D.Baker, The Frog Princess, that was in turn inspired by the Grimm fairytale The Frog Prince, the story follows a prince called Naveen transformed into a frog by a voodoo magician. He then mistakes a girl named Tiana for a princess and makes her kiss him to break the spell. Unfortunately this turns her into a frog as well.
