If your little ones love animals then this fab new 3D feature from Google gives you the chance to experience a selection of animals in your home!
For parents with children staying indoors, this provides a fun new way to learn about their favourite animals.
How do I view 3D animals on Google?
To use the feature, you’ll need to google an animal, for example: ‘tiger’.
Just underneath the image search results and the Wikipedia description of the tiger, you’ll be able to see a little box that says, “Meet a life-sized tiger up close”.
Click the ‘view in 3D’ button, then click ‘view in your space’ to see the tiger in your own surroundings.
You’ll need to give Google access to your camera for it to be able to insert the tiger into your space.
You can then watch as the animal appears in your home! You can of course take a video or a photo of your child with the animal too!
What animals can you find?
There are so many animals for you to see, so far we have tried the following but I'm sure there are lots more to find!
- Emperor penguin
- Angler fish
- Brown bear
- Shetland pony
In order to access this feature, your device will need to be AR enabled.
For Android users, Google requires an operating system of Android 7.0 or later, originally shipped with the Google Play store already installed, and internet access.
For iPhone users, you need to be running iOS 11.0 or later. You’ll likely already be running iOS 11.0 or later, but if you’re not sure, simply head to your settings, click general and then tap software update.
If there is a software update available, hit download and install.
