Booking is now open for this year's FREE Swim Safe Outdoor Swimming Sessions, where children can learn to stay safe in and around open water.
The sessions are free of charge, and organised by Swim Safe and the RNLI, with 60 minute sessions for children aged between 7 and 14.
There are free sessions at 28 waterside locations across the UK, and you need to book to secure a place for your child.
Children learn where is safe to swim, how to float, what to do if something goes wrong and how to call for help if someone else is in trouble.
It's a fun, structured swimming lesson in an open water location, run by qualified lifeguards and instructors and includes:
- Beach safety advice provided by qualified lifeguards on land.
- Up to 30 minutes in-water tuition with qualified instructors.
- All the right kit for swimming outdoors (including swimming hats, wetsuits, and swimming aids).
To take part children must be able to swim a minimum of 25 metres, and a parent or guardian must be present throughout the session.
