Our Top 5 Black Friday Shopping Tips for 2017
This year, Black Friday lands on November 24, and companies are already getting ready for the big day. Even if your favourite stores don't offer deals and promo codes as often as you'd like, this is the one day a year you're practically guaranteed to get a juicy discount!
To make sure you get the most out of your Black Friday experience, here are our top 5 tips we have found to be the most helpful over our bargain hunting years!
1. Buy your expensive items first
If you have a long list of items you want to buy, make sure to get the big ticket items first (TVs, appliances, etc.). These items tend to have the biggest price reductions, and therefore, you'll save the most money.
For example, it's not uncommon to get upwards of £1000 off a washing machine, but the most money you're likely to save on a nice sweater is £40.
2. Plan ahead
Especially if you're shopping online, make sure you check out what offers are available days in advance. Depending on how long your shopping list is, it's unlikely you'll be able to get everything on it.
Figure out what items and deals you think are the best, rank them in order of most important to least important, and then work your way down the list.
3. Shop online if you can, and open up as many tabs as you can handle!
Besides very few exceptions, almost every Black Friday sale is available online. Why waste time waiting in long lines and bumping into people when you can shop in your pyjamas with a cup of tea?
If there are several items you have your eye on, open up as many web browser tabs as possible and load those items into their respective store carts.
Once the item is in your cart, you now have it on hold for usually around 5-15 minutes. That's plenty of time to leave that item in the cart, and pay for items you have on hold in other tabs.
4. If you're shopping in-store, take cash out 2 days in advance
Unfortunately, there are a few retailers that have select sales only available on in-store.
If you have to shop on location, make sure to take your cash out two days in advance. If you're taking out cash on Black Friday, you've probably already missed out on the deal, and in extreme situations, ATMs have already run out of money from other people doing the same!
The reason we suggest two days in advance instead of one, is because there might be some longer lines the day before Black Friday filled with proactive shoppers. So be even more proactive!
5. Check out this page daily for 5 days prior to Black Friday
I know what you might be thinking, and no, this isn't just a little shameless self-promotion - this is actually an important tip.
Most companies release their best voucher codes and sales promotions around five days before Black Friday. We list the deals that offer the biggest discounts and are for the UK's most popular brands right here on this page, so you might end up finding savings for stores you didn't even know had a sale going on!
The whole purpose of our website is to let you know about the best deals and discount codes available, and we don't make any money unless we provide you with good content! That's the best guarantee I can give for why you should check in with us regularly before, and on, Black Friday.
