Celebaby: Keep That Champagne On Ice

18 October 2011

I've just had a good scout round the internet and, despite the odd false report, I can't find anything announcing the arrival of Carla Bruni's baby.

I'm not sure what to make of her and the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, they just seem so...mismatched!

Carla Bruni clearly hasn't been a fan of pregnancy this time around, she was quoted, recently, as saying, "Quite frankly, I can't stand it any more. I spend most of my time either sitting down or lying down. I can't drink or smoke any more. I'm in a hurry to get it over with."

It looks like she's going to have to keep that champagne on ice a while longer, although she could have been forgiven for reaching for the Marlboro Lights when she heard, via the Belgian media, that she'd given birth a week ago!

I must confess I'm not overly interested in the latest addition to the Bruni-Sarkozy household, but what WILL be interesting is what happens after the birth.

Much fuss and furore has been made by Ms Bruni about keeping the baby away from the cameras, yet the couple have been 'notorious' for their staged photo opportunities in the past.

By all accounts the French don't 'do' that sort of thing and when their President got together with the supermodel (I don't see that either!) and promptly paraded themselves in front of the media, they were less than impressed and his popularity ratings plummeted.  NOT good when you're in the middle of an election!

SO, this is the current thinking from Carla as far as the new baby is concerned...

I will do everything to protect this child.  I will never show pictures of this child, I will never expose this child. I think exposure to public life is a choice to be made by an adult

Alrighty then!

Watch this space for 'they were long lens shots that we have no control over (but isn't my baby GORGEOUS!)' photographs soon then *grin*
