Zog and the Flying Doctors To Be This Christmas' Julia Donaldson Animation

Every Christmas, the whole family gets a treat in the form of a Julia Donaldson story that's been turned into an animation for the television. For Christmas 2020, the children's favourite Zog and the Flying Doctors has been the book of choice. We cannot wait.

The animated short film has been created by Magic Light Pictures, will last twenty five minutes and is narrated by Sir Lenny Henry.

What is Zog and the Flying Doctors about?

Julia Donaldson's Zog and the Flying Doctors is an animation based on the storybook by Julia Donaldson. It is the sequel to 2018's animation Zog. It follows the tale of Zog (a dragon) and the Flying Doctors, Pearl and Gadabout.

The unlikely trio spend the duration of the animation caring for magical creatures such as a a mermaid, a unicorn and lion.

Things take a turn for the worst when Pearl is locked up by her Uncle, the King. As Zog and Gadabout try their hardest to set her free, Pearl swaps her opportunity to escape and instead looks after a rather poorly King.

Que the happiest of endings when the King shows his gratitude by setting her free.

Who does the voices in Zog and the Flying Doctors?

Hugh Skinner is the voice of the dragon Zog, with Patsy Ferran and Daniel Ings as flying doctors Pearl and Gadabout.
It wouldn't be a Julia Donaldson animation without the voice of Rob Brydon now would it? – he has appeared in every Julia Donaldson adaptation and in Zog and the Flying Doctors he voices the King.

Listen out for Mark Bonnar who's Unicorn, Lucian Msamati who's Lion and Alexandra Roach who is Mermaid.

As for the narrator we are chuffed that it's Lenny Henry, who's guaranteed to bring the story to life.
