So come on, tell us. What time did your little darlings wake you up this morning?
If you had to start putting the kiddos back to sleep before you'd actually even made it to bed yourself, I totally feel your pain. I've had my years of that.
And indeed my dad tells the story of the year he crept into my bedroom with my presents just before midnight to fill the stocking hanging on the end of my bed, whereupon my eyes shot open and I sat bolt upright in bed and demanded to know whether Santa had been yet. My poor dad hastily dropped the pile of presents on the floor, deftly kicked them under my bed and then lay down beside me to persuade me to go back to sleep.
The next thing he knew it was morning and I was awake - and in floods of tears at the foot of the bed, bemoaning that Santa had left my stocking utterly empty. I still remember my Dad trying to explain that Santa must have been in such a hurry that he tossed the presents into the room without time to pop them in the stocking, and so I should check under the bed.
I never did put two and two together, either.
Thankfully, though, my older kids are past the age of trying to get up at 1am on Christmas Day and indeed had to be dragged from the land of Nod at 8am this morning - I can hardly believe it!
Equally my youngest is too young to quite grasp the whole Santa thing so, delighted as she was with her stocking this morning, she didn't wake us at the crack of dawn either. I'm sure she'll make up for that next year though.
So c'mon. Tell us over on our Facebook page what time the kids had you up this morning. And if you've got a tale, like my Dad's, of desperately trying to to persuade them to go back to sleep until Santa's had time to fulfil his duties, we'd love to hear all about it.
