Sun Melt Crayon Candle

13 July 2013

This is a craft that combines art with a bit of science. Found on the Chaos Ensued blog, this is perhaps the perfect craft for this time of the year. As long as the days stay as hot as they have been! All you need is an assortment of old crayons, a candle wick, and a glass jar. Fill the jar up with the crayons and candlewick, then leave in the sun. On the blog it took about 5 hours for the crayons to melt. And it was interesting to find that one side of the jar melted into a black goo, while the other melted into puddles of colour. The candle worked well when lit too.
