Fabulous Free Recipe @ President Emmental

Leek & Bacon TartPlayPennies recently had the pleasure of a recipe and tasting session with President's range of Emmental cheeses and they gave us some fabulous free recipes to share with everyone. The cheese is really good value for money and has a rather nutty taste and a below average fat content too!

So, without further waffle, here is the lush recipe I tried out last night. Sadly, water was spilled onto my pastry due to my enthusiastic waving around of a rolling pin so my puff didn't poof, but it still tasted yummy!

Leek & Bacon Tart 

Serves 4-6 

Calories per serving: 494

Fat(g) per serving: 37 

Preparation time: 20 minutes

Cook time: 20 minutes 

1 tbsp butter

2 leeks (sliced)

6 rashers bacon (snipped)

375g ready rolled puff pastry

75g walnuts (chopped into pieces)

150g Président Emmental (grated)

 

Leek & Bacon Tart-2nd1. Heat the butter in a shallow pan with one tbsp of water. Add the leeks and cover with a lid. Cook for 3-4 minutes until just tender.

2. In a separate pan dry fry the bacon until crispy.

3. Set the oven to 220C/200C Fan/Gas 7. Unroll the pastry and place on a lightly greased baking tray. Score a 2cm line around the edge of the pastry.

4. Sprinkle the tart with half of the walnuts and half of the grated Emmental. Top with the leeks and bacon, followed by a sprinkle of the remaining walnuts and grated Emmental.

5. Bake for 15 –20 minutes until risen and golden brown. Serve hot or cold.
