Hasbro FurReal Friends Cookie My Playful Pup £52.77 @ Amazon

Amazon are selling the Hasbro FurReal Friends Cookie My Playful Pup for £52.77 this week, instead of £69.99, and this, of course, includes free delivery.

I love the idea of having a dog or a cat as a pet, but when I think of insurance, vet’s bills, walks and picking up after them, I turn gratefully to my once a week maintenance requiring fish tank. (And even with that I seem to kill more fish than keep them alive!)

The Cookiepie will respond to your voice by moving her head, blinking and barking, and will ‘talk back’ like a real puppy would, apparently. I’m not sure about that, honestly, but if you’re after a ‘friend’ that can stay home alone for a week, then this isn’t a bad place to start.

Along with the pet itself, you’ll receive a puppy toy and collar and 4x ‘C’ Batteries.

sheesh - for that price you could get a real live dog from a rescue home/rspca (which by the way for about that price would include neutering, microchipping, removal of flees and ringworm!) go for the real thing - gives so much more pleasure (unless of course the pet is a toy for xmas only then stick to the toy!)

from a parent's perspective, and a pet owner, I think that works out cheaper myself! We got our cat as a stray who moved into our garden as a tiny kitten (too young to have been allowed out, no-one ever came looking for him). So that was free, as was first checkups etc when you get a stray. But after that - well it seems like there's something every other month. In total we've probably spent nearly £80 in the last year on vets bills, then there's all the food. On top of that there's the fleas that are brought in (despite treatments, clean bedding every day etc), and the presents left thoughtfully right outside the door (oh yes I have only stepped out once in barefeet without looking, not a mistake you make twice). I thought that the rat carcasses were bad enough, but then he started leaving just the remains too. Nothing quite like starting your day with the view (and smell) of entrails, and just a snout. I wouldn't give up our cat for all the tea in china :)
