I can think of loads of uses for this box of Galt Connecta Straws when it costs only £3.31 at Amazon. Delivery is free too with super saver delivery.
This is a flexible construction kit. You get 200 pieces in the box. The set works around a lot of straws that can be made into shapes using connecters, wheelers and building rings. You push the straws into connectors and start building.
The recommended age for this is 6 plus. This toy is great for fine motor skill development. One customer on the site thought the straws were a little bit flimsy. Another customer writes that they "love this game, it always keeps the children quiet! As they are getting older they are creating more interesting and complex designs. We have transferred it to a shoe box for easier storage."
Of the eight reviews, two gave it three stars yet still said they were pleased with it! It was only the flimsyness of the straws that counted against the toy.
Overall this is a great way to help kids build their imaginations, and get them away from electronic and battery operated toys. My son also has a bit of a passion for straws. I don't know why! But he is always building things with them, and using them as standins for toys. My memory of Christmas day is of him sitting there surrounded by brand new toys, playing dinosaurs with a stick in one hand and a straw in the other! It is a good reminder that children really don't always need the latest and greatest things.
