Winnie the Pooh Crawling Mat £12.50 @ Tesco Direct

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 24 January, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Winnie the Pooh Crawling Mat £12.50 @ Tesco Direct

One of the multitude of savings on at Tesco Direct at the moment is the Winnie the Pooh Crawling Mat which normally sells at £25.95, but has £13.45 slashed off to be just £12.50.

I’m quite intrigued by this Crawling Mat. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like it. We bought a large quilted mat for my daughter when she started moving around, but it didn’t have any toys or activities on it. This seems to basically be a large play mat, but for when baby moves about more.

It’s 75 x 142 cm, and doesn’t require any batteries. It is a wipe only surface for cleaning, so you can’t pop it in the washing machine and is made of material.

While the reviewers seem to like it, there are a few issues with it – like the fact that it slips about on wooden surfaces, or tiles, and doesn’t seem to give a crawler much traction on a carpeted floor. One reviewer even suggested using tape to stick it down – so it seems it would do well on a rubber mat, which at least provides additional padding.

I’d love to see one in action. I think it’s a really cute idea, if it works well.

Winnie The Pooh Splash Mates Review

Winnie The Pooh Splash Mates Review

I don’t really ‘get’ this, if I’m honest. It’s a bath time teddy bear. Which is great for the kids, but I’m worried about the stuffing going all rotten. It hasn’t but the concept perplexes me.

Never the less, the Winnie the Pooh Splash Mates, Winnie the Pooh and Piglet set has proven to be a great bath time companion. This particular set seems to be quite hard to find at the moment, but none the less, it features Winnie the Pooh wearing a red lifejacket,  and Piglet all decked out for a swim in his life raft.

Winnie the Pooh is made out of some sort of quick drying, water safe material – a little bit like an umbrella in texture – and without ripping him open to check, I think he’s stuffed with Styrofoam or something similar. Although he lives in the bath, he’s seemed to handle being wet most days like a trooper.

The real talking point for this set, for me, is Piglet and his raft. The raft is a sprinkler – you scoop water in and it comes out the bottom like an upturned watering can with a sprinkler nozzle. That’s fine, but what’s super, duper, ultra – cool is that despite the holes in the bottom it actually floats. Its survives bubbles and waves and knocks and floats, and I was seriously impressed with not having to fish it and Piglet – who, by the way, is a squirting toy himself – out of the bottom of the bath every five minutes.

It’s bath time fun, and it’s different and unusual, I guess, and my toddler enjoys her bath time Pooh bear. (This is also available, and more commonly found it seems, as a Tigger and Roo combo, or a Darby and Buster combo.)

Crayola Winnie the Pooh Fun Roll Set £2 @ The Toy Shop

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 5 October, 2011 at 10:00 am

Crayola Winnie the Pooh Fun Roll Set £2 @ The Toy ShopThis Crayola Winnie the Pooh fun roll set is just the sort of thing I would have loved as a child - in fact, it's just the sort of thing I'd still love to colour in now!

The Toy Shop have reduced its price down to £2 from £8, which makes it a rather nice little bargain.

Two two meter rolls and four marker pens make up this Crayola Winnie the Pooh Fun Roll set.

Both of them are feature everyone's favourite Winnie the Pooh characters who appear in fun pictures and activities that are perfect for your toddler, or you, to colour in.

You can separate each picture by tearing it off the role and hang them on the wall, or frame them, OR you can unroll the entire roll to reveal a rather fabulous height chart - I do love height charts - and let  your child colour in the pictures and mark off their height as they grow!

The Crayola Winnie the Pooh Fun Rolls are suitable for little ones aged two year or older.

Home delivery will cost you £3.95, unless you're ordering other bits and pieces which takes your total over £30, or you can collect your Crayola Winnie the Pooh fun rolls for free from your local Toy Shop.

Winnie The Pooh Complete Book Collection £20 @ The Book People

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 24 September, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Winnie The Pooh Complete Book Collection £20 @ The Book PeopleThis Winnie the Pooh Complete Book Collection is a favourite of ours, here at PlayPennies.  It varies in price through the course of the year and this time it's yours for £2o, plus £1.95 for delivery.

The list price for this Winnie the Pooh book collection is £149.99. I'm really not sure about that, you know; I adore books and I've been known to pay a fair bit of money for them, when they're worth it.

But £149.99?  That just seems a little overpriced to me, even if it is a price that we'll never have to pay.

Anyway, I had a Winnie the Pooh book collection when I was little and to say I loved them would be something of an understatement.

Just in case you're wondering whether or not Winnie the Pooh is still in vogue, what with all his modern competition, he's 85 years old now and still has a ton of merchandise, from wallpaper, to clothes, to toys and games, bearing his name and image.

I think it's safe to say he's going to be popular with all ages for many, many years to come.

Winnie The Pooh Gazillion Bubble Blower Review

by Luschka van Onselen in Reviews on 22 September, 2011 at 5:00 pm

Winnie The Pooh Gazillion Bubble Blower Review

It’s my daughter’s 2nd birthday party soon, and I may have gone a little over the top with the Winnie the Pooh décor –including decals, goody bags complete with stickers, games, a wallet and whistles, all Winnie the Pooh themed. I also thought this Winnie the Pooh Gazillion Bubble Blower would add a fun touch to the garden, filling it with bubbles.

Sadly, I was wrong.

Look, the Gazillion Bubble Blower is very cute. It’s a shiny happy looking Pooh bear that raises and lowers his right arm into the honey pot and up to his mouth, from which a steady stream of air blows. The fan makes a whirring sound, but it’s not terribly loud or  overly obtrusive.

The problem comes in the bubbles: there aren’t any.  Pooh blows, a bubble forms and it pops. There’s no release or stream of bubbles floating into the air to be chased by exhilarated toddlers.

I thought perhaps it was just a bad bubble liquid, so replaced it with bubbles from our favourite oversized bubble wand, but alas, it made no difference.

While I still think Mr. The Pooh would make a cute centrepiece – away from the food, as the bubble liquid pops all around it – and he still looks cute blowing his bubble, it’s just not what I expected, nor does it give us the party effect we were after. The disappointment is so much worse for the misleading name though – Gazillion bubble blower? Erm… not so much.

Toy Story Buzz Gazillion Bubble Blower £7.50 @ The Entertainer

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 3 August, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Toy Story Buzz Gazillion Bubble Blower £7.50 @ The Entertainer

The Toy Story Buzz Gazillion Bubble Blower is currently £7.50 at The Entertainer, which is a 50% saving. It’s also one of the cheapest prices around with prices starting at £13.99 in other places.

My daughter absolutely loves bubbles, and we can have hours of fun in the garden with me blowing bubbles and her chasing them. I also have some absolutely beautiful photos of her chasing bubbles with a look of absolute wonder on her face. I must admit though that it does sometimes get a bit boring, so I’m thinking this might be a wonderful invention to keep her entertained – although I wonder if it’ll be as much fun for her if I’m not playing along?

Either way, this Toy Story Buzz Gazillion Bubble Blower comes with a bubble solution, and creates an ‘endless stream of bubbles’. It requires 3 AA batteries  which aren’t included.

This is also available in Winnie the Pooh, which I think will be a brilliant addition to my daughter’s birthday party – especially at this price – it’s also £7.50 but only requires two batteries.

VTech Winnie The Pooh Slide And Learn Book £7.47 @ Tesco Direct

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 31 July, 2011 at 7:00 pm

VTech Winnie The Pooh Slide And Learn Book £7.47 @ Tesco Direct

There’s a good 50% off the VTech Winnie the Pooh Slide and Learn Book at Tesco Direct. It’s currently selling at £7.47 instead of £14.97.

This book has six illustrated, easy-to-clean, hard plastic pages, featuring moving interactive elements for your little one to join in with to develop hand-eye coordination and manipulative skills – not manipulation skills, mind!

Each page has a short story phrase that teaches a different concept, such as opposites, words and numbers as well as popular nursery rhyme tunes, all achieved by twisting or sliding character features.

You can also press on Winnie the Pooh for a fun song to sing along.

While this is said to be suitable from 9 – 36 months, babies as young as four months are said to really enjoy listening to the songs, according to the gushing reviews for it on Amazon.

You will require two AA batteries, and one complaint of the system is that it doesn’t have an off switch, so the batteries drain quite quickly.

Winnie The Pooh Organiser Bag £5.78 @ Argos Ebay Outlet

Winnie The Pooh Organiser Bag £5.78 @ Argos Ebay Outlet

This really cute Winnie the Pooh Organiser Bag is £4.79 at the Argos Ebay Outlet store at the moment, with 99p delivery charge.

Okay, cards on the table, I have no idea what an organiser bag is when it’s at home? Is  it a laptop bag? A nappy bag? Something for toddlers? I honestly couldn’t tell you – feel free to leave a comment if you know though! That said, this is a  really cute looking bag, and I could definitely see it as a ‘beyond the nappy bag’ bag.

According to the description it is a ‘coral and pink’ bag, with yellow trim, and is made of polyester.

The Winnie the Pooh Organiser Bag has magnetic closing side pockets, which I always think is so much better  than Velcro and it has four external and four internal pockets.

The carry handle is adjustable, and it also includes a ‘plush key fob’, which does make me think it’s not meant to be a child’s bag, specifically.

Size wise, the Winnie the Pooh Organiser is 30cm high, 40cm wide and 11cm deep (so big enough for my laptop!) and empty, weighs .8 kg, so nice and light too.

If you can figure out what you would use it for, and like cutesy, this is a great price for a very cutesy product.

VTech Winnie The Pooh Play And Learn Laptop £14.99 @ Sainsbury’s

VTech Winnie The Pooh Play And Learn Laptop £14.99 @ Sainsbury’s

The VTech Winnie The Pooh Play And Learn Laptop at Sainsbury’s has £5 off at the moment, dropping the price from £19.99 to £14.99.

My daughter was given a little started laptop for Christmas, with not many more buttons on it than this one, but seven months later, she  not only still loves and plays with it, but can also say all the animal names, their sounds and number on the laptop. It’s a great toy, but is educational too – and when Mummy and Daddy sit ‘working’ she sometimes likes to ‘work’ on hers too, so it’s a really useful tool when there are things I just have to finish.

This laptop features three play modes including a fun follow the lights game.  There are lots of features including five light-up shape buttons, a spinning disc, a sliding bee, a flipping butterfly wing and a roller ball.

Ideal for early learning, the VTech Winnie the Pooh laptop introduces shapes, colours, numbers and favourite characters.

The laptop requires 2xAA batteries which are included.

Standard delivery is £3.95, but click and collect is free of charge.

Giant Winnie The Pooh Soft Toy £9.99 @ Sainsburys

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 25 June, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Giant Winnie The Pooh Soft Toy £9.99 @ SainsburysThis giant soft Winnie the Pooh comes up on offer at Sainsbury's periodically and very quickly goes out of stock; it's his £9.99 price tag instead of £19.99 that does it.

I adored Winnie the Pooh as a child; I remember going to the cinema to watch something like Star Wars and little Winnie the Pooh cartoons were the pre-movie entertainment - do you remember when that happened?

Mickey Mouse, Goofey and Donald Duck mini-features were also shown too.  Not like now, with a hundred million trailers and adverts for mobile phones.

Any Winnie the Pooh fan, regardless of age, will, I'm sure, spend many a happy hour cuddled up to this giant Winnie the Pooh; I'd have loved him when I was little, he would have taken pride of place on my bed and would have had to come with me wherever I went.

He's 52cms tall and if you're over 18 months old then you can have one.

One reviewer said he's so soft and cuddly you'll think twice before handing him over, I don't doubt them either.

You can collect him in-store for free if you're passing the Sainsbury's of your choice, or you can choose to have him delivered for £3.95 OR spend over £50 and then Sainsbury's will drop him off to you free of charge.

Disney Music Player Story Books Review

by Luschka van Onselen in Reviews on 20 June, 2011 at 5:00 pm

Disney Music Player Story Books Review

I’ve mentioned before how my daughter loves Winnie the Pooh, and also loves music, so when I saw the Disney Music Player Story Books on sale a few months ago, I just had to buy it. When I bought it was over 80% off, so I didn’t read the details too closely and thought I’d bought a Winnie the Pooh book and song set.

When it arrived and not only was there a Winnie the Pooh book, four ‘CDs’ and a ‘CD Player’, which I expected, but there was a whole other book with 101 Dalmatians, Finding Nemo, The Lion King and The Jungle Book stories, with its own CDs and a CD Player which came as a huge surprise. I thought this was exceptional value for money.

Now, when I say ‘CDs’ and ‘CD player’, I’ve parenthesised them because they’re not really CDs or CD Players. They are round disks, each with a ridge on them that matches a button in the (not really a) CD Player (See the image above). What that means is that if you were to lose the CDs from, say, the Pooh books, you could still use the CDs from the other books to listen to the Pooh books, because the music itself is stored on the CD Player, not the CD.  This is great as they’re not going to get scratched or ruined. The CD Player itself can be removed from the book, which I find nice as my daughter likes carrying it around, and dancing with it.

The Winnie the Pooh book is actually nursery rhymes, some of which have been changed – like Piglet’s bridge is falling down – and divided into four sections: Morning Time, Play Time, Bed Time and Story Time.  They’re nice ‘chunks’ for singing along to and keeping a toddler’s attention.

The Disney Favourites are too long still for my 20-month old, but would be fine for a child that can handle a few pages of story time. The music on this serves as a backdrop to the story, rather than being a tune for singing to.

All in all, we love these. Would I pay £29.98 for it now that the sale is over? Yes, probably! There’s enough variety in it that you could read each story only once a week, and the illustrations are excellent for keeping little ones engaged, while the music just adds a whole new exciting element to it.

Kids AM Cinema From £1 @ Vue Cinemas

Kids AM Cinema From £1 @ Vue Cinemas

For the movie lovers among us, Vue Cinemas have a very special offer – kids movies from £1 every Saturday and Sunday morning, and every day during the school holidays - sort of.

There are six movies on with this offer – Winnie the Pooh, The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the  Dawn Treader, Rango, Mars Needs Moms, Legend of the Gaurdians, and A Turtle’s Tale.

While I haven’t seen all of them, my toddler and I thoroughly enjoyed  all 70-something minutes of Winnie the Pooh, and although she slept through most o f The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyagee of the Dawn Treader, I thought it was a pretty good adaptation.

It's not as fantastic as it sounds though: different cinemas have different  prices on the individual movies, and not all cinemas around the country are showing everything each day - in fact most of them are only showing these on one or two days, so you really need to check the website to see what’s on offer, where, and when.

You can use your Nectar points to redeem movie vouchers at Vue cinemas if the popcorn and snacks pops you over your spending limit.

Fairy Non Bio Gel £3 @ Sainsbury’s

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 20 April, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Fairy Non Bio Gel £3 @ Sainsbury’s

Fairy Non Bio Gel is currently £3 at Sainsbury’s as compared to £4.69.

So, remember a couple of weeks ago I told you about the Winnie the Pooh Audio books you could get with the purchase of Fairy Non Bio products? You just have to send your receipt in with your address and name to the folks at Fairy Non Bio, and they’ll send you one of three lovely audio books?

Well, now Fairy Non Bio is discounted too so you can get your 18 washes and your free Winnie the Pooh story for £3 – not bad, I think.

Mr. the Pooh has become the first ‘character crush’ in our house and my daughter walks around everywhere pointing out “Pooh” – which I’m always very eager to encourage with, “Yes, it’s WINNIE THE POOH”, just in case anyone thinks my child’s particularly fond of oversharing.

We’ve even gained a few sets of Duplo thanks to the bear – (mercifully, Argos has had Winnie the Pooh Duplo on sale too, if you’re interested.)

Anyway, include this purchase in your normal groceries and you won’t pay delivery (£3.95) on orders over £100 (on specific days, oddly.) But I’ve seen the offer in a couple of shops this week and there’s always click and collect for free.

Winnie The Pooh VTech Walker £18.86 @ Amazon

Winnie The Pooh VTech Walker £18.86 @ Amazon
Amazon are selling the Winnie the Pooh VTech Walker for £18.86, 43% - or £14.13 off.

With the release of the Winnie the Pooh movie today, there's sure to be an upsurge in the sale of Winnie the Pooh toys. I know since we saw it on Sunday we've acquired a Winnie the Pooh soft toy, and Winnie the Pooh's Picnic Duplo! My little girl even dances to the soundtrack of the audio books!

So, you can get the Pooh-love in early with this VTech Walker from Amazon.

It features a light-up honey pot, buzzy bee button, turning book page, sliding caterpillar – from where I don't know! - roller, and a spinning flower with a mirror.

The Vtech Winnie the Pooh walker introduces animals, sing-along songs and music – for which it requires 2 AA batteries, which are included. The easy grip handle and apparently durable design are supposed to make taking those first steps easier. Admittedly, we got on just fine without a walker, but this does look like a fun bit of activity for a little one.

Amazon reviewers loved it across the board, and say that even non-walkers can have hours of fun off it.

Free Winnie the Pooh Audio Books With Fairy Non Bio Purchase

Free Winnie the Pooh Audio Books With Fairy Non Bio Purchase

We went to see the preview for the new for Summer 2011 Winnie the Pooh Movie yesterday, and it was so good that it has us terribly excited about Winnie the Pooh again. So much so I'm even getting all the audio books being rolled out this week and offered 'free' with purchases of Fairy Non Bio Gel.

The way it works is simple:

  1. Buy Fairy Non Bio Powder, Fabric Softener, Gel or Liquitabs

  2. Circle the product name on the receipt

  3. Add your name and address and choice of Audio Book

  4. Post it to Fairy Disney Winnie the Pooh Offer, Dept PC315, PO Box 10, Diss, Norfolk, IP98 1SP

  5. Wait for your Audio Book to arrive

We have two of them already, and they're lovely!

The titles you can choose from are Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore, Piglet's Big Movie, or The Original Story of Winnie the Pooh. I had a quick Google, and a similar Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore Audio Book is £8.

The next one for us will be The Original Story of Winnie the Pooh to complete our collection and I'll be nicely stocked up on Fairy Non Bio too, which is fine since with my daughter's sensitive skin it's what we use anyway.

Winnie The Pooh Dream Glow Bear £4.50 @ Debenhams

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 13 January, 2011 at 9:00 pm

Winnie The Pooh Dream Glow Bear £4.50 @ Debenhams

The dream glow Winnie The Pooh bear from Fisher Price has been reduced from £15.00, to £7.50 and now to £4.50 at Debenhams.

I must admit I've always been in two minds about this little bear with the glowing face – it's either going to scare the stuffing out of a toddler, or they're going to love it. At the same time, I'm not sure I like the dependence on a night light, but at least it's not on all the time.

This Pooh Bear reacts to being squeezed, when his eyes open and his face begins to glow. He has five melodies that are meant to soothe little ones, as well as nature sounds and a light-only mode.

Both customers that have rated the Dream Glow Winnie The Pooh have given him five stars, stating that he is “lovely, really cute & just the right size for a toddler” as well as that he is an “ideal gift for a 6 month old” and a “good quality product”.

I guess at £4.50 you can't really go wrong - if they child doesn't like it as a night time companion, it wasn't too big a waste. With two pregnant friends, this seems like a pretty good idea to me now, especially with free delivery.

Thanks to plodding at HUKD
