Vtech Crazy Legs Learning Bug £15.00 @ Amazon

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 17 March, 2013 at 7:00 pm

Vtech Crazy Legs Learning Bug £15.00 @ AmazonAmazon have 25% off the Vtech Crazy Legs Learning Bug. Normally £19.99 you can pick it up at the moment for £15.

The Crazy Legs Learning Bug introduces babies to shapes, counting and music. Kids from 12 months and older can pull or pop the colourful shapes, or spin the baby bug to learn about counting and music. This toy is stimulating and hands-on to develop curiosity and fine motor skills.

It receives really mixed reviews from parents, but has an overall 4 star rating from Amazon's customers. Some say it's the best purchase they've had, others think it's a waste of money. Looking through the reviews, it seems a durable toy, able to withstand some battering. It's also nice that it grows with the child - first a simple shape sorter, then songs and then questions, which children can and apparently do answer.

The biggest moans seem to be that the stickers come off and are easily eaten off, that it has no volume control - it's all or nothing with this fella- and so on.

This toy requires 2 AA batteries, which are included.

VTech Magical Learning Wand £8.48 @ John Lewis

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 23 September, 2012 at 11:00 am

VTech Magical Learning Wand £8.48 @ John LewisEvery child, boy or girl, needs a wand at least once in their lives. That's my opinion anyway! This particular one is probably more suited to girls than boys as it is only available in that gory pink colour, but it has been substantially reduced. John Lewis is selling the VTech Magical Learning Wand for £8.48, and that includes delivery if you can collect instore. On Amazon, the same wand is selling for £19.99.

Abracadabra! Cast a spell with this magical wand. Wave the wand to activate the motion sensor and magically interact with the games on the screen. The pretty princess crown flashes with the sounds. A friendly voice, magical sound effects and classical style music encourage creativity.

Five interactive games introduce letter order, counting, emotions, music, logic and memory skills. Your child will enjoy learning with their favourite princesses; Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White and Belle.

The wand requires three AAA batteries. It measures 8cm high x 3cm wide x 4cm deep, and is suitable for children aged 3 years and older.

VTech Little Singing Alfie £6.39 @ ELC

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 22 September, 2012 at 3:00 pm

VTech Little Singing Alfie £6.39 @ ELCThe ELC, or the Early Learning Centre as it used to be known, has reduced the price on this interactive baby toy, the VTech Little Singing Alfie. It was £9.99, and it is now £7.99. Use the code we posted HERE and you can get another 20% off making it £6.39. Plus standard UK delivery on the site is free, so if you can wait four days to receive the toy that's all you have to pay. Fabulous idea for a baby gift.

VTech Little Alfie is the little bear that likes to sing to you. There are three interactive buttons, and these are just the right size for little fingers to press. Hopefully the real singing and talking will captivate your baby. I know my son just loved that sort of thing when he was tiny. The toy is suitable from babies three months and older.

Cheerful melodies add to the fun of this cute little companion.

You can easily attach Little Alfie bear to most prams, pushchairs and even cots using the soft strap at the top of him so he can go wherever your baby goes.

VTech Sing And Discover Piano £15 @ Debenhams

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 11 September, 2012 at 7:00 pm

VTech Sing And Discover Piano £15 @ Debenhams

Debenhams have the VTech Sing and Discover Piano on offer at the moment. As far as noisy plastic toys go, this is a pretty cool one, and I was quite excited when I saw it - which is silly since we already have one! The offer has £10 off , making this £25 toy £15.

I wrote a review of this piano some time back. It's really a good piece of kit, if you can get past the microphone that doesn't work as well as it could, but the rest of it is fun.

"It is a chunky musical keyboard with a ‘songbook’ with turning pages (the sounds automatically change to match the page that’s open – how they did that I have no idea). The songbook ‘chapters’  are shapes, animals and nursery, and the characters are a bird, cat, elephant, pig and  monkey which all come to audible life when the corresponding buttons are pushed."

There’s also a row of five musical notes which teach pretty realistic animal sounds, instruments and colours.  There are function controls – two volume settings which are both reasonably pitched – and two play modes and an off switch.

Below all that five keyboard keys with pictures of the characters and their instruments, and in the same mode as those above, these keys are simple keyboard keys.

There's loads more, and if you like musical toys, this is a good one to go for!

VTech Hello Kitty Soft Book £6.57 @ John Lewis

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 2 September, 2012 at 11:00 am

VTech Hello Kitty Soft Book £6.57 @ John LewisThis sweet VTech Hello Kitty soft book is £6.57 at John Lewis. This is a really good price for this book. You can get it for the same or nearly the same at Amazon, but everywhere else it is priced at £9.49 or higher.

This tactile Hello Kitty soft fabric book is perfect for exploring with your baby! Each page features a different scene with Hello Kitty and her friends Joey, Tiny Chum, Tippy, Cathy and Rory and a fun press button introducing a number, shape, colour and object.

Includes 5 melodies and a fun sing-along song. Light-up happy sun attracts baby’s eye and encourages interaction. Aids the development of motor skills and basic language. Attaches easily to a cot or pushchair.

Batteries are included (it takes two AAA batteries), and it is suitable for ages from three months and upwards.

There are two customer reviews on the website, both giving it a five star rating. This is what one buyer of the book had to say "My 3 month old baby girl loves the flashing light and colourful imagery at the moment, and is just starting to want to copy me pressing the buttons. If you press the buttons multiple times you get songs and further storytelling too. Lovely toy and keeps her entertained."

VTech Move N Groove Music Station £15 @ Tesco Direct

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 31 August, 2012 at 7:00 pm

VTech Move N Groove Music Station £15 @ Tesco Direct

Tesco Direct have taken £19.90 off the VTech Move N Groove Music Station and are selling it at £15.

This seems like quite a good, fun and interactive musical toy from VTech.

There's a drum to beat, a guitar to strum, and colourful piano keys to play. There's a microphone to sing into and a musical book which plays songs about counting, colours and shapes when you turn its pages.

You can also remove the instruments and the book from the keyboard so you can play them wherever you go - although to me that sounds like a surefire way to lose bits off the music station super quickly! But maybe that's just in our house.

It looks like a great little toy, but the definite downside for me is that it needs three AA batteries to work, and has no mains option, so I suspect with all the noises and lights, it'll run through batteries like no one's business, and while you're saving a lot on the original price, you'll quickly make up for it in batteries.

VTech Move And Groove Music Station £15 @ Tesco

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 23 August, 2012 at 7:00 pm

VTech Move And Groove Music Station £15 @ Tesco

There’s a fantastic offer on the VTech Move And Groove Music Station at Tesco, where it’s selling for £18.66 less than the usual £33.66, and is now only £15. This is even less than half of the current price at Amazon.

The VTech Moove and Groove Music Station is the go – to point in any playroom for musical instrument sounds. You can ‘strum’ the guitar, beat the drum, play on different coloured musical keys and sing along to the music on the working microphone.

There are also the musical books with a turning page and a light-up music button.

Educationally, your child will learn about musical instruments, numbers 1 – 5 and colours from this toy.

According to reviewers, it has a pretty tolerable sound, although the microphone can be a bit iffy. It is, they say, sturdy, durable and a great toy, although from the sounds of things, if you already have a few similar VTech musical toys floating about, you might find this surplus to requirements.

There are buttons in the hands and feet that give fun responses when pressed in day mode but in night mode plays music. It has a light up tummy which acts as a nightlight and you can play peek-a-boo with the bunny by covering his eyes with his big floppy ears.

VTech Crawl and Learn Bright Lights Ball £8.99 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 25 February, 2012 at 11:00 am

VTech Crawl and Learn Bright Lights Ball £8.99 @ Argos

Argos are selling the VTech Crawl and Learn Bright Lights Ball for £8.99, a £7 saving on the £15.99 RRP.

Apparently this contraption will help encourage crawling as it rolls away from your baby and they try to chase after it. It is a magically moving ball with a built-in motor which helps it move about.  There are chunky light-up buttons and a turning ladybird which help teach animal names, numbers and colours.

According to the ‘learning aims’ of the toy, it helps support brain power, senses, hand to eye co-ordination and physical development.  And in there somewhere, it’s a bit of fun too and something to keep little ones occupied and stimulated.

It requires 3 AA batteries, which are included and is suitable for babies six months and over.

There are plenty reviews on this VTech Crawl and Learn Bright Lights Ball on the Argos site and overall they are really good.  In fact it has a star rating of 4.6 out of 5 from reviewers, which is pretty good.  The only real ‘negative’ about it is that it doesn’t move very fast – which when you consider that it’s made for 6 month olds who are learning to crawl, is no surprise.

VTech First Steps Baby Walker £10 @ Amazon

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 18 November, 2011 at 7:00 pm

VTech First Steps Baby Walker £10 @ Amazon

There’s a pretty fantastic deal on VTech First Steps Baby Walkers right now, where they’re selling it for just £10, a massive 67% reduction in price. There’s a catch though – there’s no telling when the price will change. Apparently it’s been up to £25 and back to £10 again today, but while it is at this price, you’re saving £19.99.

The VTech First Steps Baby Walker seems to be one of the nicer walkers around. I was at an NCT sale recently where there were quite a few of these walkers on offer, and the mums selling them had good things to say about them.

We never used a walker so I honestly don’t know how useful they are in getting a little one walking, but their popularity seems to suggest that they are.

You can assemble the Vtech First Steps baby walker quite easily and it can be folded up to store away. The baby walker has textured wheels for better grip, an easy grip handle, and a durable design that ensures your baby gets excellent support as they take their first tentative steps.

And when they’re not walking, little ones can enjoy the various toys  on the front of the Vtech First Steps baby walker.

Vtech Playtime Bus With Phonics £12.45 @ Debenhams

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 17 November, 2011 at 9:00 am

Vtech Playtime Bus With Phonics £12.45 @ DebenhamsI wrote about this Vtech Playtime Bus with Phonics last week.  It was on sale at Argos, but is back to full price with them now - so, just in case you missed it, here it is now on sale at Debenhams.

They've reduced it down from £25 to £15 (you'll need to enter the promotion code I'm going to give you to drop the price to £12.45) and, having had a quick scout around, that seems to be the lowest price available at the moment - Play are the closest with a selling price of £17.20 and Amazon are selling it for £24.95.

With big chunky alphabet buttons this Vtech Playtime Bus will help your child get to grips with their letters and phonics; if they're not quite ready for that learning curve just pressing them will teach cause and effect.

When the passenger buttons are pressed they say funny things and there are other sounds too, that kids will love - a horn, brakes and revving engine noises, along with music and all that usual malarkey.

The Vtech Playtime Buss takes 2 AA batteries, which Vtech have very kindly included, and is recommended for kiddies aged between one and three.

To drop the price down to £12.45, simply enter code: KG92 into the promotion code box in your basket; delivery to your local store for free collection will take four days.

Now, see what you make of this - having just read the Debenhams delivery page, it would seem to suggest that all deliveries within the UK and NI are free (excluding items from certain departments); YOU have a read and tell me if I'm understanding it correctly or just going mad: Debenhams delivery info.

The passengers on the side are big chunky buttons too, when they're pressed they say funny things and there are also other sounds that kids will love, such as: a horn, brakes and revving engine noises, along with music and all the usual bells and whistles we all expect from VTech.

VTech Baby's Laptop £8.50 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 19 October, 2011 at 8:00 am

VTech Baby's Laptop £8.50 @ AmazonAmazon have cut their selling price of this VTech baby's laptop from £14.98, down to £8.50.

Having had a quick nosey around, I can tell you that Play are selling this Vtech baby's laptop for £17.99, Argos £18.64 and Mothercare £20.94 (all of those prices factor in delivery) so £8.50 is a bit of a bargain.

It's not often that a plastic laptop makes me think 'ahhh, cute!' but that's what popped into my head when I saw this Vtech Baby's laptop - my youngest has always messed around with computers and he would have loved something like this when he was younger.

Don't be fooled into thinking that this is just something that has buttons for your baby to randomly press; as with all VTech toys there's going to be a whole lot of learning going on.

There are nine chunky push buttons to press and the screen lights up.  The Vtech Baby's Laptop has three interactive modes of play: teaching objects, sound effects and shapes and the eight-way directional click-tick mouse and buttons will help develop fine motor skills as well as introducing early computer skills.

Suitable for little people aged between nine and 36 months, I'm sure this VTech baby's laptop will earn its keep and become a firm favourite.

VTech Buzz Lightyear Talk and Teach Phone £13.31 @ Tesco Direct

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 2 October, 2011 at 9:00 am

VTech Buzz Lightyear Talk and Teach Phone £13.31 @ Tesco DirectPushing buttons, flashing lights and a handset to talk into. Toddlers love electronic phone toys, and actually as a mum I found them pretty cool to play with too. There's something therapeutic about just pushing buttons! Tesco Direct has reduced the price of the VTech Buzz Lightyear Talk and Teach Phone from £19.97 to £13.31. That's a saving of one third on the original price.

I'm really impressed with the look of this phone. The whole Buzz Lightyear design fits really well here. Even if you didn't know, anyone who was familiar with Buzz Lightyear will instantly recognise this phone. Perfect for any little Toy Story fans, that's for sure.

The blurb on the website describes it as a "play and learn Buzz Lightyear desktop role-play game". Children can press the 0 to 9 number buttons to learn Toy Story characters, numbers and letters. This is achieved through three modes of play; Battery Hunt, Number Code and My Friends.

When the handset is picked up, children will hear the voice changer in action. With the voice changer your voice can be distorted using three funny effects; alien, monster and robot.

The chunky buttons on the phone means the games are not only stimulating but easy to use. With lots of cheerful music and Buzz Lightyear''s voice, it''s time to blast off into learning!

The phone also claims to help with basic maths skills, as the child learns to identify numbers and their order. Batteries are included, and the age range for this toy is 3 years and upwards.

VTech First Steps Baby Walker £17.97 @ Amazon

VTech First Steps Baby Walker £17.97 @ Amazon

The pink version of the VTech First Steps Baby Walker has 40% off at Amazon, selling for £17.97 instead of £29.99.

We never used a walker, so I honestly can’t say what it does or how it helps, but the 41 reviewers of this product on Amazon gave it a 4.7 out of 5 star review.

One of the commenters said of her under six month old, “this used to keep her entertained for hours, and every time she learnt to do anything new, me and my hubby were overcome with joy. The activity board has a range of activities, and teaches many skills. Theres the turning knobs, a phone rattle, which aged about 9 months my daughter treated like a proper phone and babble into it, theres also 2 play modes music and learning. It teaches the alphabet, numbers, colors and shapes. My daughter, at 16 months, still plays with the activity board….”

A toy that keeps a child occupied for many months is always a bonus, and this one has a detachable learning centre packed with musical, educational and interactive activities. It has an easy grip handle, textured wheels and requires 3x AA batteries.

Bugsby Electronic Reading System £9.99 @ Vtech

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 25 August, 2011 at 11:00 am

Bugsby Electronic Reading System £9.99 @ VtechVtech have, for the time being, reduced the Bugsby Reading System down to £9.99 from £29.99; this is such a good price for this that you'll probably have to be quick to get your hands on one.

I admit it, I prefer REAL books; the ones that have pages made from paper that make a lovely sound when you turn them.

But with reading standards in the UK well below what they should be for lots of kids, I'm happy to go with anything that inspires a love of reading books regardless of their format.

The Bugsby Reading System is an expandable system with other Bugsby story cartridge titles available featuring well-loved characters like Scooby Doo, Sponge Bob Square Pants and the Mr Men and Little Miss.

Vtech also have five story cartridges on special offer too - £4.99 instead of £12.99.

The pen used to interact with the book is Bugsby himself –  he's a Bookworm who will, and I quote, "take your child on magical adventures of reading and discovery." They can even create their own stories too.

Bugsby’s little antennae light up, he has volume controls, a jack to plug headphones into (not included) and there’s no need for additional computer software either, just put the story cartridges, and 3 AAA batteries (again, not included) into his back and he’s ready to go!

I’ve written about Bugsby before and each time I search for bad reviews - I've yet to come across one, so you really aren't going to go wrong with this Vtech purchase.

The Bugsby Reading System is aimed at young readers aged between three and seven years old.

VTech Disney Cars 2 Lightning McQueen Digital Camera £37.93 @ Amazon

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 11 August, 2011 at 7:00 pm

VTech Disney Cars 2 Lightning McQueen Digital Camera £37.93 @ Amazon

VTech have brought out a Disney Cars 2 Lightning McQueen Digital Camera and Amazon are offering it at a 37% reduction at £37.93, a saving of £22.06.

This camera aimed at the 3 years and up market takes 2.0 megapixel pictures, and has a 2x digital zoom. My guess is it’s not meant for pictures that are meant to be printed, really, at that resolution. It has 256MB of storage on board, and an SD card slot for memory expansion. It will also store over 500 photos on the camera.

Included with the VTech Disney Cars 2 Lightning McQueen Digital Camera you’ll find Photo Editing CD software too.

It doesn’t require any special assembly, but does need 4xAA batteries, which are included. Made from plastic the Disney Cars 2 Camera should withstand a few knocks, and while it would probably be cheaper to get an old camera off ebay for your budding photographer, this is fab for any Cars 2 fans.

It’s a relatively new product, so there aren’t any reviews for it yet, but I’m interested to see them when they do come in, as this one is from the makers of Kidizoom.
