Trunki Deals @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 10 May, 2012 at 10:00 am

Trunki Deals @ AmazonAmazon have various discounts on Trunkis at the moment, so if you've been looking for one and waiting for a good deal you might just find one today.

There can't be that many people left on the planet, in parent circles, who don't know what a Trunki is or have never heard of them.  But just in case - here's a quick Trunki low-down...

They are little plastic character suitcases on wheels; they are designed to allow little ones to either pull them along or sit aboard and scoot along instead - this is done to save their little bodies from the stress and strains of having to carry their luggage in the traditional way.

They have Trunki horns to hold onto and the Gruffalo Trunki has Gruffalo eyes too.  There are all sorts of different Trunkis - Trixie is pink, Bernard Bee is yellow and black, there's a TrunkiSaurus Rex (he's green) and Rox (she's yellow).

There are also ladybird and tiger Trunkis; a purple princess carriage or fire engine Trunki and if you're feeling particularly patriotic you can choose an Olympic 2012 themed Trunki.

Normal Trunki prices are around the £40 mark, these Trunki deals bring the prices down to between £25 and £30 depending on which one you choose.

Happy Trunki riding!

Trunki Dino Saddle Bag £7.99 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 23 January, 2012 at 9:00 am

Trunki Dino Saddle Bag £7.99 @ PlayPlay have reduced the price of this Trunki Dino Saddle Bag down to £7.99 from £12.99 - I want to say 'yeeeeHAAAA!' but that's more cowboys and indians than Dino Trunki.

This Trunki Dino Saddle Bag is rather cute looking, matches the Dino Trunkis -  it also matches the Dino Trunki Chums Set I told you about a couple of days ago -  and is being billed as giving you, and I quote, "A more luxurious Trunki ride."  A more luxurious Trunki ride...I've had a close look at the pictures and that really doesn't look likely.

Where's the padding?  Wheres's the soft, strategic cushioning?  And, to be honest, you'd need some rather robust suspension technology to make a ride on a Trunki feel luxurious.  However, I'm not the target market here and think I may be missing the point.

So you sling your Trunki Dino Saddle Bag over the back of your Trunki, secure it round its belly and off you go - there's a horn for honking at oncoming pedestrians and pockets to keep bits and pieces in that aren't inside your Trunki.

When you're not riding your Trunki you can use the Trunki Dino Saddle Bag as a shoulder bag.

Standard delivery to the UK and Europe is free with Play and takes a few days, or you can pay to have your Trunki Dino Saddle Bag delivered quicker.

2012 Team GB Trunki £21.99 @ Play.com

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 22 January, 2012 at 7:00 pm

2012 Team GB Trunki £21.99 @ Play.com

There’s £18 off the 2012 Team GB Trunki at Play.com at the moment. Normally retailing at a whopping £39.99, it’s now just £21.99.

I’m actually not all that sure what I think of this. To be  honest, I’m so crowd-o-phobic, (yes, I know there’s an actual term for it, and I know the actual term is agoraphobia, but I’m not actually agoraphobic, I just don’t like crowds, so… crowd-o-phobic) that I have every intention of not leaving the house for the duration of the Olympics. I know I’m pretty alone in that view, however, so for the rest of you, this could be a fantastic fun, useful and practical memento from the 2012 London Olympics.

I think we all know Trunki by now – they’re designed to be used as hand luggage kids can both pack for trips and ride on when you’re waiting in the inevitable queues.

This one also comes with a sticker pack so your little one can add that personal touch to it – which can make a great activity on your first trip, so don’t be in too much of a hurry to give it to them before you take off!

Freddie The Fire Engine Ride-On Suitcase (Limited Edition) £18.99 @ Amazon

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 9 December, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Freddie The Fire Engine Ride-On Suitcase (Limited Edition) £18.99 @ Amazon

There’s 53% off Freddie, the limited edition The Fire Engine Trunki, at Amazon. Usually selling for £39.99, it’s now £18.99, which is a great price.

These Trunki’s have really taken off well and everyone seems to have at least one. I bet the Dragons that turned them down are kicking themselves, as the range has expanded so much now that it must be a pretty lucrative business!

Freddie the Fire Engine Trunki is hand luggage approved with most airlines, which makes flying with toddlers so much easier as you can have all their inflight entertainment in one place. It’s also sturdy enough for tots to sit on while you’re in the check-in/customs/immigration cues, which again is so much better than lugging a child and all your goodies around in your arms.

As luggage, the Fire Engine Trunki has an 18 litre capacity, locking catches and a key. It has a shoulder strap with an ID label attached, and has a retractable pull handle too.

Inside you’ll find a teddy bear seat belt and two secret compartments and Freddie even has his own passport.

Recommended for children from 3 years on (as a ride-on) and up to 50kg.

New Trunkis: Trunkisaurus Rex and Rox £29.90 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 5 December, 2011 at 10:00 am

New Trunkis: Trunkisaurus Rex and Rox £29.90 @ AmazonOOOH new Trunkis!  I'm preferring to think that my excitement about these new Trunkis - Trunkisaurus Rex and Trunkisaurus Rox - is down to wanting to tell you about them in time for Christmas, rather than having become a little obsessed with the little ride-on suitcases.

I fly out of Heathrow every 14 weeks or so and find I automatically scan the airport concourse, departures and arrivals lounges for kids scooting along on their Trunkis; NOW I'm going to be on the prowl for little ones with a Trunkisaurus in tow.

I haven't quite got to the stage of secretly snapping photos to show you - that really would be going too far and see me seeking Trunki therapy.

Just in case you have no clue what I'm talking about, here's a quick run down on all things Trunki:

  • They are little ride-on/pull-along suitcases for kids
  • They were famously rejected by the Dragons on Dragons' Den and have subsequently taken the luggage market by storm
  • They come in various colours and conform to current hand luggage size restrictions across all the airlines
  • Riding on or pulling along their Trunki reduces the stress and strain on young joints, which is one of the main reasons for their invention

The usual retail price for Trunkisaurus Rex and Trunkisaurus Rox is £37.99 but, for now, Amazon have taken 21% off and are selling them for £29.90 (£29.99 for Trunkisaurus Rox before anyone starts getting sniffy about me misquoting by nine pence).

Happy Trunki Riding!

Trunki Tote Bag £6.99 @ Amazon

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 27 November, 2011 at 11:00 am

Trunki Tote Bag £6.99 @ AmazonA Trunki Tote Bag is designed to fit inside a Trunki. Amazon has it marked down from £9.99 to £6.99. It is available in pink/purple, and you can also get it for the same price in blue/green. For the blue/green Trunki Tote Bag click here. Delivery is free with Amazon Prime.

This tote bag works as a handy organiser inside the Trunki, from what I can tell from the description. On the website it says that the mesh bag  fits snugly inside one half of a Trunki to put all your journey toys and activities inside.

It then works as a tidy outside the Trunki too. There are two plastic clips on the back that allow the Trunki Tote Bag to be clipped on the back of a car or plane seat,  so toys and games are easily accessible for the whole journey.

To turn it into a shoulder bag, you can use the Trunki detachable shoulder strap and clip that onto the hoops at the top of the Tote (the strap is not actually included with Tote, you use the one that comes with Trunki Ride-On Suitcase).

The Trunki Tote measures 28 cm by 42 cm by 80 cm (height, depth, width). The Tote weighs 195 grams.

Trunki Travel ToyBox Buy One Get One Free £20 @ Trunki

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 9 November, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Trunki Travel ToyBox Buy One Get One Free £20 @ Trunki

This is rather lame, but I’m quite excited by this offer! There are two Trunki Travel ToyBoxes for £20 available at Trunki, making them £10 each. The cheapest price I can find them for elsewhere is £14 at Amazon, but they have free shipping, whereas shipping from Trunki is £4.99, or free on purchases over £50. (So if you were just buying one, it would actually be 1p more buying from Amazon).

The 4 in 1 Trunki Travel Toy Box is the world’s first ride-on, push-around travelling toy box. It fits perfectly behind the driver’s or passenger’s seat in a car so that your vehicle looks a little less like a travelling toy box too. When the lid is on you can turn the whole thing over and it is a ride-on toy box, and also doubles as a rocking cradle for dolls.

The really cool feature with these is if you have more than one you can clip them together to make a Trunki Train – something my daughter loved at the Baby Show where they did a demo.

The boxes are durable and lightweight and great for toy storage at home or on the move.

Trunki Tote Bag (Blue Or Pink) £6.99 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 26 October, 2011 at 9:00 am

Trunki Tote Bag (Blue Or Pink) £6.99 @ PlayIf you're a fan of all things Trunk (like we are, here at PlayPennies) then I think you're going to rather like this Trunki Tote Bag that's up for grabs at Play for £6.99, instead of its usual £10 to £15.

Trunki first came to national awareness when the inventors pitched them to the Dragons on Dragons' Den and were turned down; they went on to take the children's luggage market by STORM and Trunki suitcases grace the luggage collections of many a celebrity child.

All sorts of Trunki things have followed and been featured here on PlayPennies, but this is the first time I've seen these Trunki Tote Bags which can be used alone or as an inside accessory for your Trunki suitcase.

It's been cleverly designed to fit into one side of your Trunki, to prevent toys from falling out when the case is opened.  The Trunki Tote Bag can also be clipped onto the back of the seat in front, resulting in toys, books and games  never being out of reach and meaning you don't have to keep contorting yourself round the seats to reach into the back for things.

There's no charge for UK deliveries with Play; they are advising a one to two week delivery lead time on the blue Trunki Tote Bag at the moment.

Anniversary Limited Edition Trunki Quinn £18.88 @ Babame

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 14 October, 2011 at 9:00 am

Anniversary Limited Edition Trunki Quinn £18.88 @ BabameWe haven't had a good Trunki deal for ages - this one is slightly different in that there are only 5,000 of them!

Trunki are five years old - can you believe it! - and to celebrate they've produced the Limited Edition Trunki Quinn.

Quinn is green and orange AND translucent (should that float your proverbial boat) and each one will be stamped with their own unique number.

The rrp for the Trunki Quinn is £34.99 but Babame are selling him for £18.88, with an additional £2.95 for delivery.

Just in case you're not familiar with the superhero of the kid's luggage world, let me fill you in.

The Trunki made it's very first appearance on Dragon's Den - a kiddy suitcase with wheels and a pull-along strap so that kids can tow or scoot along on their Trunki rather than carry it.

The Dragons turned it down; I bet they wish they hadn't as the Trunki became a worldwide success.

It's small enough to conform with the current hand luggage restrictions; it appeals massively to kids and the scooting or towing part isn't just for gimmick purposes, it means they don't put unnecessary strain on their little bodies carrying heavy bags.

Remember, this Trunki is limited to 5,000 and once they're all gone...they're all gone.

GoVinci Trunki Back Pack £9.99 @ Trunki

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 27 August, 2011 at 2:00 pm

GoVinci Trunki Back Pack £9.99 @ TrunkiIf you go over to Trunki you can pick up a GoVinci Trunki back pack for half price - £9.99 instead of £19.99.

We know a lot about GoVinci Trunki back packs here at PlayPennies: we've REVIEWED them, written deals for them and given away two in, what proved to be, one of our most popular competitions.

If there's something we don't know about the GoVinci back pack then it's just not worth knowing!

If you've never encountered one of these back packs before then let me see if I can explain it as simply as possible for you - it's a rigid back pack that has soft little 'ears' on the top and one side of it is a wipe-clean drawing table for your child to lean on.

This drawing surface also doubles up as a frame, allowing your child to personalise their GoVinci and display their current favourite piece of artwork.

Now this might sound a bit pointless and 'odd' to us grown-ups, but be assured that kids LOVE IT!

GoVinici Trunki back packs are available in pink of blue and delivery will cost you an additional £3.05, unless you spend over £50 when it becomes free.

Trunki BoostApak £29.95 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 11 May, 2011 at 9:00 am

Trunki BoostApak £29.95 @ AmazonAmazon are currently selling this Trunki BoostApak travel booster seat for £29.95; it's normal retail price is £39.99.

A quick look-see around Internet land would suggest that John Lewis has these Trunki BoostApak travel booster seats on sale for the same price BUT you will pay for delivery, unless you can go and collect it from the store; the remaining usual suspects are all selling them for the full retail price.

A Trunki BoostApak travel booster seat before is an interesting combination of a booster seat and a backpack and rather ingenious, I think.

The law requires all children under 12 years old, or 135cm in height, to use a booster seat - my oldest two were mortified when this law came in and were most relieved when they were over the height limit!

We all know this particular law makes good car safety sense - not like the 'cram as many kids as you can in the back of the car' ways of my childhood - but it does mean you can be caught short without a booster seat if the unexpected happens; a  Trunki BoostApak is a nice solution.

Suitable for children aged between 4 and 12 years old, it's a hand-luggage approved rucksack which doubles as a booster seat and is very handy for car-sharing and and taking on family holidays.

If you're going to be out an about travelling by train or bus it will allow your child to be high enough to look out of the windows and if you need to grab a cab then you'll still be able to comply with car safety law.

The Trunki BoostApak has fold-out seat belt guides, hi-visibility horns and reflective trim and the cover is removable cover for cleaning.

Pink Trunki Travel Toy Box £10.88 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 27 January, 2011 at 8:00 am

Pink Trunki Travel Toy Box £10.88 @ AmazonThis pink Trunki Travel Toy Box usually costs £19.99, Amazon are currently selling them for £10.88.

As big fans of anything Trunki, here at PlayPennies, we all went, “Ooooh….!” when the words Trunki Toy box were uttered.

Kids love to push things around - you, their brothers and/or sisters and their toy boxes.  All of my children used to put things in boxes and proceed to push them around the lounge.

Have more than one Trunki Toy Box? Join them together and you've got yourself a Trunki Toy Box train which is just perfect for your children and their friends to scoot around en masse.

It can be a cart, it can be a rocker so you can rock your teddies off to sleep (very important for tired teddies and imaginative play).

All we need now is a Gruffalo set of Trunki Toy Boxes and we’ll be very VERY happy indeed!

There are blue Trunki Toy Boxes available too, but these are selling for a little more at £14.99.

Bernard Bee Trunki £19.49 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 4 January, 2011 at 11:00 am

Bernard Bee Trunki £19.49 @ AmazonIf you don’t fancy a Gruffalo Trunki then, as far as I’m concerned, the Bernard Bee Trunki is the way to go – I think he’s a very funky Trunki indeed!

At some point I’m going to run out of things to say about Trunki Ride-On Suitcases and my posts will just consist of these few words, “OI! Trunkis back on spesh’ offer at Amazon – go and get one if you missed it last time!” What do you mean that would be an improvement on my usual posts?!

I wonder if the designers of the Trunki realised that it was going to take the kiddy luggage market by storm, and have normal, sane and rational grown ups drooling over them at airports like I do when I see one.

Although, when I flew out of Heathrow Airport a few weeks ago (I was one of the lucky ones who managed to dodge the snow) I didn’t spot ONE Trunki!

Not a Gruffalo Trunki, nor a Bernard Bee Trunki, not even a Trixie Trunki!

The world’s children clearly need MORE Trunkis.

JUST in case you haven’t come across the Trunki before (and welcome back to Earth, how was your very long trip to Mars?)  it’s a kiddy suitcase with horns they can ride on when they get tired, or scoot along on when they’re feeling a little more energetic.

Trunkis come with a sticker pack so the kids can customise them and they conform to current hand luggage size restrictions.

Bernard Bee Trunki should be £34.99 but is currently up for grabs at Amazon for £19.49 – I’d grab him at this price now, before you get stung at a higher price when Amazon put his price back up.

Bernard The Bee Trunki, Penelope The Princess Carriage Trunki And Tipu The Tiger Trunki Deals @ Amazon

Bernard The Bee Trunki, Penelope The Princess Carriage Trunki And Tipu The Tiger Trunki Deals @ Amazon

With all the chaos in the world of travel, travel is probably the last thing anyone really wants to think of, but with the Bernard the Bee Trunki at only £17.50, Penelope the Princess Carriage at £20.00 and the Tipu the Tiger at £20.99, these deals are too good to miss.

Looking back on PlayPennies, these are some of the cheapest Trunkis we've ever featured here!

If you don't know what a Trunki is yet, it is a ride-on suitcase for tots. It is lightweight and durable and hand luggage size approved for most airlines and gives your little one somewhere to sit and shuffle along the queue when you're waiting to check in and board.

Additionally, children love the fun designs, and for practically sake, Trunkis have an ID label, carry handles for when parents inevitably have to take over, teddy bear seatbelts, locking catches, secret compartments and an internal pouch. Each Trunki also has it's own passport, which can be registered for free, fun activities to download.

Whilst Trunki might not be big enough for all your child's holiday needs, it is definitely ideal for carrying snacks, spare clothes, and amusement activities while you're on the move!

Trunk doesn't just make suitcases these days. Although that's still what they're mostly known for! Recently we've carried stories on Trunki toyboxes and the Trunki backpack. Also, at the supermarket recently, I saw a mum waiting for a taxi with the Trunki backpack that turns into a carseat. I asked her what she thought of it, and she said that while it was good to have for trips like this one where she might not take the baby's carrycot-carseat-pushchair combo she did find that the clips on the Trunki carseat were far more difficult to use than was convenient.

Trunki ToyboxWe're all very excited in the PlayPennies office this morning, for we are REVELLING in the delight of the...

Trunki Deals @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 20 November, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Trunki Deals @ AmazonTrunki suitcases have taken the childrens’ luggage world by STORM! They have also captured the imagination of adults too.

We are on a mission here at PlayPennies, over Christmas, to see how many Trunkis we can spot on our travels.

A few of us are flying during the course of December and January and airport departure lounges are prime Trunki hunting grounds!

We also think we should there should be grown up versions - we want to scoot through the airport terminals en route to checking in our luggage!

We're not alone in this either, it doesn't take much hunting around the interweb to come across comments, reviews, requests and pleading for adult-sized Trunkis.

If you’ve been living on Mars for the last year or more and you have NO idea what I’m talking about, here’s a quick Trunki 101:

It’s a hard-shelled suitcase for kids that they can ride on – it doesn't get any more complex than that!

It conforms to current airline hand baggage size limits, it has straps on the inside to hold everything in place and comes in various guises – whenever we find deals on the Gruffalo ones, everyone here at PlayPennies  HQ gets very excited.

Even the rich and famous love their Trunkis – Rod Stewart has been spotted in an airport with one (it was a Gruffalo one if you’re interested).

There are various price reductions across the whole range of Trunkis but beware, Amazon prices fluctuate more than the London Stock Exchange so dawdle at your own risk!
