by Lynley Oram in Deals on 4 February, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Lego City Let's Build! Activity Book with Lego Figurine £2.92 @ AmazonGot a Lego fan in the house? Chances are pretty high that, if your offspring is aged 12 or under, you most certainly do. This Lego City: Let's Build! Activity Book with Lego Figurine has been reduced by Amazon, from £4.99 to £2.92. Delivery is free with Amazon Prime. Some of these Activity books have been found as low as £3 in-store in Asda, but otherwise this is about the cheapest price I could find online.

Let's get building! Little Lego builders everywhere will love this fantastic activity book. First, construct the Lego City builder toy, then read the stories and try the puzzles which are all about building. What more could every Lego City Construction fan want?

There are three reviews on the site, all giving it five stars. Here's what one reviewer had to say. "My Grandson loves Lego, he has so many kits I would never presume to buy another for him. When I saw this book I thought at last, I can get him something. All the shops I have been in, I have never seen a book such as this . He loves it. It is an excellent addition to his vast Lego collection."

Lego Alien Conquest Earth Defence £37.48 @ Tesco Direct

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 2 February, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Lego Alien Conquest Earth Defence £37.48 @ Tesco Direct

The Lego Alien Conquest Earth Defence kit is at 50% off at Tesco Direct taking it down from £74.97 to only £37.48. I still can’t get over how expensive Lego is, I mean, that is REALLY pricey the old price but it is far more reasonable now which should make Lego fans happy.

The Lego Alien Conquest kit contains what kids with imagination need to defend the Earth against the alien invasion. Earth Defence HQ is the ultimate station with a bunch of features and extras like the laboratory trailer that can be unhooked for high speed pursuits.

Repel the UFO with the interceptor shuttle and fire the ground defence unit flick missiles. Study the alien commander and alien pet in the analysis bay – they actually say that in the description, how disturbing! – and be sure to keep them behind bars. Crikey, if I was an alien reading this I would never visit Earth.

The Lego Alien Conquest kit has an alien trooper, alien pirate, pilot, two alien defence unit soldiers, a toxic clean up scientist and accessories.

Star Wars Talking Yoda/Chewy/Darth R2D2 Three For Two @ Tesco

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 2 February, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Star Wars Talking Yoda/Chewy/Darth R2D2 Three For Two @ Tesco

Tesco has reduced the Star Wars talking plush toys to only £9.97 each and then slapped on the tasty “get three for two” label as well. Not only do you end up with awesome talking Star Wars toys but you get one of them for free.

These are ace. I found this deal last year and remember thinking that it was soooo pants I had already sorted all my Christmas presents out. These are such cool gifts and not just for kids either. I mean, I grew up with Star Wars so these would make me very happy.

Can you imagine waking up to a plush little Yoda talking to you about the Force? Yeah. Or a little Darth yabbering on about your coming to the dark side while you make coffee? Oh yes. This is all too good for words.

Anyway, they each cost £9.97 and you can collect pretty much all of them in one spend under £20 really, well, three of them…

FyrFlyz Assortment £2 @ Amazon

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 1 February, 2012 at 6:00 pm

FyrFlyz Assortment £2 @ Amazon

Amazon sort of faded away in January I noticed, with not so many great deals hanging about. Well, they seem to have kicked February off with a bang. Here is yet another great deal for kids with the FyrFlyz assortment down from £7.99 to only £2. Nice.

The FyrFlyz are a revolutionary new spinning toy that puts the power to create amazing light shows into every child’s hands. The FyrFlyz are precision balanced instruments that are designed to spin on their axes and they can create continuous movement in figures of eight, Saturn Rings, Shooting Stars and more.

They can do this by swinging the connection strings and either applying tension or allowing slack. The real fun begins when the lights go out and the FyrFlyz multi-colour LED lights turn the movement into amazing light shows that kids will love. Kids can learn tricks as they go and as they improve they will come up with more and more variations. I love these!

Cerise 3-Wheel Jogger £10 @ Littlewoods

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 30 January, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Cerise 3-Wheel Jogger £10 @ Littlewoods

Littlewoods has marked the Cerise 3-Wheel jogger kids toy down from £36 to only £10 – that’s a saving of £26 (well over half the original price) and it comes with free delivery. And yes, it is a kid’s toy so no real babies in here please!

I am honestly taken aback at the idea of the Cerise 3-Wheel jogger costing £36 originally. Wow. That is a lot of money for a pretend pram. For only £30 more you could probably buy a real one! Anyway, £10 is far more reasonable for this bright pink three wheel jogger for little baby toys.

This doll’s pushchair has a canopy and a comfortable EVA handle grip – that description made me laugh. An EVA grip? For a child’s toy? It seems a little excessive. Anyway, there is even an under seat storage net and the handle sits at 59cm high making it ideal for kids over the age of three.

Tinga Tinga Tales 25cm With Sound Plush Elephant £3 @ The Entertainer

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 29 January, 2012 at 11:00 am

Tinga Tinga Tales 25cm With Sound Plush Elephant £3 @ The EntertainerThis Tinga Tinga Tales 25cm with sound plus Elephant toy has been hugely reduced from £15 to £3 at The Entertainer. Delivery is free if you can collect instore, otherwise home delivery is £3.95 unless you spend over £30, then it is free.

Squeezing the elephant's tummy makes it play the theme music from the TV show. Also available for £3 are the Tinga Tinga Hippo and the Tinga Tinga Lion. Unfortunately the Tinga Tinga Monkey has sold out, otherwise you'd be able to get the full set for less the cost of a single one at full price.

In case you aren't aware of it, Tinga Tinga is a children's TV show and one that I personally absolutely love watching as much as my son does. The stories are sweet, and of course totally silly. They focus around why a giraffe's neck is so long, or why a crocodile has such rough skin. Naturally there's nothing about evolution in there but that's not what the stories are really about. They're about human nature and all its foibles. They're fables at their entertaining best.

The Smurfs Nail Party £3.49 @ Argos

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 28 January, 2012 at 3:00 pm

The Smurfs Nail Party £3.49 @ ArgosI don't know why but I just love the idea of Smurf nails! There's also something really fun about painting your nails when you're a kid. And for many grown ups too, although I have to say I haven't been bothered for years now. I guess it is a personal thing. This The Smurfs Nail Party set is reduced by half price at Argos, from £9.99 to £3.49. You can click and collect instore for free, otherwise delivery is £5.95, so it would be best as part of a bigger order to make that worthwhile.

According to the website you get four nail varnishes and nail stickers. There's no more description than that unfortunately. Which is a bit of a shame but at this price, it is still worth a go as a present or something for the present drawer.

One reviewer on the site complained that the nail varnish peeled easily, which they weren't happy at for the price. However, with the set reduced, it makes it better value for money.

However, as another reviewer comments, giving it three stars out of five, "Not excellent quality nail varnishes but the big chunky bottles, stickers and bright colours are great for little fingers to hold and use so ideal present for children."

Zhu Zhu Babies Dance Recital £7 @ Tesco Direct

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 27 January, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Zhu Zhu Babies Dance Recital £7 @ Tesco Direct

The Zhu Zhu babies dance recital set is down from the originally hideous £22.97 to a much tastier £7, a saving of £15.97 off the original price. Nice. Tesco is having a very enjoyable sale at the moment and I am loving the discounts as I have a ton of birthday parties coming up!

The Zhu Zhu pets range confuses me. At first I loved them and wanted one – I probably wanted it more than my daughter did. Then I nabbed a few in a sale, paying something silly like £1 each, and now they sit, in their dusty habitat, covered in a layer of the same dust.

The batteries died at around the same time as interest in them did. They don’t DO anything and all the habitats are stupidly expensive. Now you have the Zhu Zhu babies range and this toy will apparently let your Zhu Zhu pets twirl the night away in front of an audience. If you have the babies and the hamsters, the price is right, otherwise run screaming.

Monster High Create A Monster Kit £13.49 @ Smyths Toys

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 27 January, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Monster High Create A Monster Kit £13.49 @ Smyths Toys

The Monster High dolls and sets are as hard to find as hen’s teeth at the moment so not only is the fact that this is a low price really good, but the fact that they have any of these items in stock! This particular kit is ace – you get to create your very own monster for £13.49 instead of £17.99.

Dr. Frankenstein isn’t the only person who can create monsters. Now you can too. The Monster High Create A Monster set provides your offspring with all the body parts (hahahah) and fashions needed to create unique, scary and cool creatures.

Each Monster High Create a Monster kit comes with a torso, two sets of limbs, two heads, one hairpiece, two fashions and a unique add on such as wings. I love the fact that I am writing about a set that includes limbs and a torso, it’s surreal!

The pieces can be assembled in more than 250 ways so kids can make as many weird combinations as they like.

Mega Bloks Squad Fire Patrol Station £19.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 26 January, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Mega Bloks Squad Fire Patrol Station £19.99 @ Argos

The Argos sale is definitely cooking this year with items being reduced well below their usual retail prices. This is another brilliant deal with the Mega Bloks Squad Fire Patrol Station down from £59.99 to only £19.99 which is a lot less than half price!

Kids can use the Mega Bloks Squad Fire Patrol Station to build their own fire safety building and get ready to rescue the town. The detailed set includes the station building and has loads of cool vehicles as well.

You get a fire patrol chopper landing pad and four unique vehicles to help save the day. The Mega Bloks kit also has five figures and all the usual building accessories that comes to a total of 750 pieces all together. Spykee Vox Interactive Robot £32.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 26 January, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Spykee Vox Interactive Robot £32.99 @ Argos

Argos has reduced the fancy and extremely cool Spykee Vox Interactive Robot to £32.99. It used to cost £99.99 so you are paying a lot less than half price for a very cool toy that kids will absolutely love. And parents too…

Spykee Vox responds to your voice and to around 38 different predefined voice commands. If you give him an order he will obey you and beetle off to do as he is told. Not only that, but Spykee can also receive iPod Nano and iPod touch ranges and is compatible with other MP3 players too.

The Universal IR remote allows Spykee to control your electronic devices when asked and you can either use his pre-programmed features or create your own. You can add movements, emoticons, give him a name and insert new sounds.

He has an alarm clock function and he needs six AA batteries and three AAA batteries none of which are included. Ideal for kids over the age of eight, he is a monster robot gizmo.

Character Building Royal Navy Assault Playset £4.63 @ Amazon

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 25 January, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Character Building Royal Navy Assault Playset £4.63 @ Amazon

Ok, this is quite the longest name for a toy ever. The Character Building Royal Navy Assault Rib Mini Construction Playset. Phew. Anyway that toy is now down to £4.63 from £9.99 which is a saving of £5.36 in total plus you get free delivery.

So, what is this Character Building Royal Navy Assault thingy? Well, apparently your kids can become experts on amphibious warfare with this Royal Navy construction playset that features an assault rib and loading dock. Landing crafts are capable of carrying up to eight Royal Marines Commandos with full kit at full speed.

Your mission is to get your commandos to their destination so they can disembark and secure the area. The set comes with one microfigure wearing a patrol vest and assault rifle and it is suitable for kids over the age of five. Is it just me who thinks this looks a lot like Lego?

Crayola Supertips Sketch And Colour Set £6.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 25 January, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Crayola Supertips Sketch And Colour Set £6.99 @ Argos

The Crayola Supertips Sketch and Colour set has been marked down from £13,98 to £6.99 at Argos which is half the original price. The set is packed with all sorts of stuff that will make creative time fun and colourful.

Unleash your child’s creativity with the Crayola Supertips Sketch and Colour set that has a bright rainbow arraw of colour Supertips for creating beautiful pictures. Kids can sketch on the go as the entire set comes in a handy travel case that’s perfect for alleviating boredom on long journeys.

Included in the Crayola kit are 32 Supertips markers and a 40 page sketchbook and the latter looks like it is a decent size too. These colouring pens are actually really good as I’ve used them before and if the lids disappear (as they always do) they tend to carry on going for quite a while. They don’t dry out too easily.

Xia Xia Crabs Confetti Cottage £2.99 @ Amazon

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 24 January, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Xia Xia Crabs Confetti Cottage £2.99 @ Amazon

The Xia Xia Confetti Cottage by Character Options is reduced from £9.99 to £2.99 at Amazon and it comes with free Super Saver Delivery. This is a tasty discount of £7 off the original price but it comes with none of the (expensive) little crabs.

The Character Options Xia Xia Confetti Cottage (p.s. the Xia Xia is pronounces Sha-Sha) is designed specifically for the little crab creates that you can buy separately for around £7 on Amazon. I am sure you can probably get the cheaper elsewhere though.

The cottage doubles as a carrying case so kids can take their Xia Xia with them wherever they go. The set also joins up to other playsets in the same range so you can end up creating a crazy crab city. The crabs even have shells sold separately apparently.

I am not sure if this is a bath set or not. I mean, surely crabs need water, right? Anyway, if you have the Xia Xia crabs then this bargain should suit you just fine.

Baby Born Mummy Pick Me Up Doll £15 @ Tesco

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 24 January, 2012 at 4:00 pm

Baby Born Mummy Pick Me Up Doll £15 @ Tesco

The Baby Born Mummy pick me up doll has been reduced several times over the course of the sale. Originally it was selling for £40, then it dropped to £20 and now it is only £15. That’s a pretty good saving off the original price.

The Baby Born Mummy pick me up doll by Zapf Creation comes dressed in a cute pink shortie suit and has lovely golden hair that’s tied off to one side with a pretty pink clip. She asks to be cuddled and when you raise her arms she giggles.

The Baby Born Mummy pick me up doll also gives kisses and says, “Mama” along with other cute little baby babbling phrases. The batteries needed to power her along are included and she is ideal for kids over the age of three.

There are no other accessories included with the Baby Born so she seems quite expensive for the original £40, but for £15 she will make a great addition to the present cupboard. Personally I find her a bit creepy.

Octonaut Bath Sets £2.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 24 January, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Octonaut Bath Sets £2.99 @ Argos

The Octonauts bath sets are down from £4.99 to £2.99 at Argos with two different types to choose from. I got one of these for my daughter this Christmas and have to say that the lower price is really more like it, they are not worth nearly £5.

The undersea exploring Octonauts are on a mission to uncover the mystery of the Great Ghost Reef and you will find either Kwazi and the vampire squid or Captain Barnacles and the octopus in each set.

Each Octonaut has posable arms and legs with a turning head and each sea creature changes colour when it is placed into hot water. The vampire squid goes all spotty and I am not sure what the octopus does. They are quite cute and definitely lots of bath time fun but the lower price is more accurate for what you get.

Now you can get both sets for almost the same price as one.

Krooom Toys Review

by Lynley Oram in Reviews on 24 January, 2012 at 1:00 pm

Krooom Toys ReviewI still have flat packed shelving I bought when my son was born six years ago that I haven't put together. This doesn't bode well for a flat packed toy! Which is what the playsets from Kroom Toys are. I really did have to try these out though, as they are absolutely everything I have ever wanted in a toy. Joy of joys, they're not made of plastic.

Kroom make products that are eco-friendly. Everything is made from 60% recycled card and all the products are also fully recyclable.

There's a whole range of stuff for children, including storage boxes, play sets and toys. Importantly, the toys look like they're a lot of fun. The toys are distributed in the UK by Little Helper, and you can also buy them directly from their website.

I received the Noah's Ark and Dylan Fire Station to try out. The Noah's Ark playset has an RRP of £24.99. The Dylan Fire Station also has an RRP of £24.99. Delivery on the site costs from £1.99, depending on the size and weight of the items.

My First Lego Set £6.99 @ Argos

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 23 January, 2012 at 4:00 pm

My First Lego Set £6.99 @ Argos

Argos has marked this adorable My First Lego set down from £9.99 to £6.99 which is a saving of 25% off the original price. This is a perfect introduction to the wonderful world of Lego building fun and is ideal for tots over the age of four.

The My First Lego set features regular and shaped Lego bricks including windows, a door, a minifugure, wheels, a propeller and a special building plate. Children can follow the instructions to build a house, car, helicopter and plenty more.

These sets are really good for helping children to develop creativity and explore their imaginations, and to teach them how to entertain themselves for a while. Lego is such a family staple nowadays that I am not sure how people survived without it!

Spend some time with your tots, building and creating whole worlds, or let them loose to make their own superb creations.

Cutesy Pals Unicorn Or Sheep £3.99 @ Play.com

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 23 January, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Cutesy Pals Unicorn Or Sheep £3.99 @ Play.com

These are too cute for words. You get the Cutesy Pals unicorn or donkey soft and snuggly pillows for £3.99 instead of £10, a saving of well over half the original price. And, of course, the delivery is free from Play.com, if a bit slow.

Snuggle and cuddle your very own unicorn pet in the shape of a soft and furry pillow. Kids should have lots of fun collecting these furry creatures and they look very cute indeed. Not only can they be used as soft toys to play with but when they are all tired and finished, they can curl up and sleep on them.

The pet pillows are brilliant for travel, especially on planes and trains, as kids can sleep on them as comfortably as a normal pillow. There are three different designs – sheep, unicorn and ladybug – but only the sheep and the unicorn appear to be on sale.
