Animal Alley 48” Brown Bear £29.99 @ Toys R Us

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 22 December, 2010 at 4:00 pm

Animal Alley 48” Brown Bear £29.99 @ Toys R Us

Wahoo, this is the hugest bear I think I’ve ever seen. 48 inches of enormous cuddly teddy at Toys R Us and marked down from the original price of £59.99 to a much more reasonable £29.99. This is one big Christmas present for a child.

The Animal Alley brown bear is absolutely enormous. The child in the picture must be about four years old and it is still bigger than she is! It looks utterly scrummy too. I would love to get one of these for my child, I really would.

This would actually make an ace chair for kids in the lounge – if he was propped against the wall for example. Or as a superb nursery decoration and cuddle spot for little tots. The price is also pretty reasonable when you think about how much toy you’re getting.

So, if you’re panic shopping for presents then reserve this chap and race on over to the store to get him.

Fast Lane Parking Garage With 8 Cars £19.99 @ Toys R Us

Fast Lane Parking Garage With 8 Cars £19.99 @ Toys R Us

Toys R Us have a rather nice half price deal on this Fast Lane Parking Garage with 8 cars - it's £19.99 now instead of £39.99; marvellous!

I have always had a love for cars and toys like this Fast Lane Parking Garage still do it for me.

Forget Barbie, Sindy, Tiny Tears and all those other stereotypical girly toys, it was cars and Star Wars figures all the way as far as I was concerned, and both my boys learned very early on that if they wanted me to play with them for ages, all they had to do was get the cars out!

This Fast Lane Parking Garage has five levels with a working lift and sounds, lane changing gates that connect each level and it even has a spiral loop for a fast exit!

I WANT ONE!

It's ironic really, you spend hours and hours as a kid, playing with toys like this Fast Lane Parking Garage, having awesome fun parking cars and finding spaces but when you're a grown-up few things are more tedios than trolling round and round the multistory in your car on the prowl for a space.

The Fast Lane Parking Garage can be delivered to your home for £4.95 or you can arrange to collect it in store using the Toys R Us click and collect service.

Fifi And The Flowertots Picnic Party Playset £5.59 @ Toys R Us

Plan the perfect tea party with this Fifi and the Flowertots Picnic Party Playset at Toys R Us, normally £16.59, it's now £5.59.

Doesn't every little girl just love a tea party? Hours of fun can be spent with both imaginary and real friends, which is a great for creative play and imagination. We used to have picnics with mud cakes, made from bright red mud – I don't know how we didn't all have worms!

This Fifi Picnic Party playset includes two tea cups and saucers and spoons, two espresso cups and saucers and matching sizes spoons, a sugar bowl, two plates, a milk jug, and a talking teapot, which requires three LR34 button cell batteries.

Oh, neither the Fifi doll or the children pictured here are included.

Why not invite some friends over, make a few cupcakes and sandwiches and spend the afternoon lost in teaparty heaven?

Unfortunately the Fifi Picnic Party playset is no longer available for home delivery, but you can still click and collect from your nearest Toys R Us.

Bounce and Spin Froggy Bouncer £39.99 @ Toys R Us

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 10 December, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Bounce and Spin Froggy Bouncer £39.99 @ Toys R Us

The Bounce and Spin Froggy bouncer is £39.99 at Toys R Us, a saving of £20.00. (Plus £4.95 delivery)

When my daughter went from comfortably sitting to happily crawling in a heartbeat. By four months she was comfortably crawling – we discovered when she crawled herself off the bed, to my shock and horror. She hated bouncy chairs and would throw herself out of hers, ending up like a tortoise on the floor. The Bumbo lasted her only a month or so, and the door bouncer made her scream.

We then found a Fisher-Price bouncer similar to this one, and finally she was happy. She could sit in it for at least half an hour happily playing, while I was able to hang up washing, do dishes, or put on dinner. It was a sanity saver. The only problem was that it was massive and took up most of the floor space of whatever room she was in.

That's why this Bounce and Spin Froggy bouncer from Fisher-Price seems like a great idea. It has lots of activities to keep babies busy, with spinning, bouncing, sliding, batting and more. The activities include:

  • 360° rotating seat allows baby to reach all toys
  • Bat at toy bar with 2 deluxe toys
  • Chick with a jingle ball
  • Teether toy, mirror, and sliding ladybug
  • Fun rollerball that activates sounds and music
  • Assists in baby’s development
  • Jumping fun rewarded with sounds and music
  • Removable machine washable seat pad

The free standing steel frame lets baby jump safely, and this bouncer is compact, so easy to store away. Suitable from when a child can sit unaided to 25lbs.

We found ours so useful, it's the only baby 'equipment' we've kept for should we, one day, maybe, perhaps, think of having another baby.

JoJo Car Review

by Lynley Oram in Reviews on 7 December, 2010 at 1:00 pm

JoJo Car ReviewJoJo is a blue, interactive bunny. We reviewed the JoJo Hide and Seek bunny a couple of months ago. It did not fare well. So it was a mixed reaction when Jumbo sent us a  JoJo Car. Did we really want to put ourselves through that sort of disappointment again?

With some trepidation, we gave the car to our reviewer Kim and her (now) 14-month old daughter to try out. Here's the manufacturer's description of this product: "JoJo really springs into action with the new JoJo Car, which can zoom around your front room with music, flashing headlights and wobbly wheels.  But look out, if it hits an object you will hear the crash and JoJo will bounce from the car causing your child to hop with laughter!"

JoJo Car ReviewKim wasn't terribly sure she wanted to review another JoJo product either. She wasn't sure what to expect as she hadn't been overly impressed with the last toy. However, this time around she was pleasantly surprised.  "This Jojo car is great and one of my daughter's favourite toys of the moment. .. and one of mine too. It was a lot easier to get out of the box than the last toy from Jumbo and it came with batteries already in it so it was ready to play with when taken out of the box. That  was perfect as my daughter was desperate to play with the toy."

When you press the JoJo bunny down the car goes 'vroom vroom' and then says 'let's go!' before it wobbles off round the room while playing a selection of fun songs. Kim's favourite was  'I like to travel in my car!' Her daughter loved chasing it.

There was more fun. "When he hits a hard object like a wall or door," Kim explains. "Jojo is ejected accompanied by the sound of 'Too fast! Crashing sound, Springing sound and Ow,ow,ouch!' and the headlights flashing red..." What kid, young or grown up, wouldn't love that?

The instruction leaflet says there are 8 melodies. To change songs you press the little  button on the top of the car and the next time the car drives off a different melody is played.  There is a normal speed and a fast speed version of  Jojo singing 'I like to travel in my car' .  As far as Kim could tell the melodies that have no singing include Wheels on the bus, Row row row your boat, She'll be coming down the mountain, London bridge is falling down and Pop goes the weasel. There are no words, just music so perfect to teach your little one the words so they can sing along.

JoJo Car ReviewPerhaps a song sheet would be a good idea though? "I do believe I have spent too long sitting here trying to guess the nursery rhymes though" Kim says. "But it is so annoying knowing that I know the songs but just can't think of the names." If you buy this toy then it might be a good idea to look up the words on the internet beforehand!

"My only faults with the product" Kim goes on to say, "are that there is a spelling mistake on the box (it says the engine is huming instead of humming) and that I think it would have been good for the car to have an off button. Just to avoid the toy speaking out from the depths of the toy box when the 'nose' of the car gets prodded. When this happens it then says 'too fast, ow, ow, ouch!' and the lights start flashing. Less noisy and plus, it would help conserve battery life."

And Finally ...

What was Kim's final verdict? "Overall I would say that the fact my daughter gets this toy out to play with every time anyone visits our house is a sure sign that she loves it. The voice on this car is so lovely and endearing...I really do love this toy and I would highly recommend it to everyone." I think that means it was a winner!

JoJo Car ReviewThe SRP is £19.99, and it is available at Amazon for that.  It is also sold in Toys R Us and Argos. Kim felt that it was especially well worth the money for the fact that you get to have some peace while little one plays along with it.  To be honest anything that makes little one run around and use up all that toddler energy would be a welcome addition to my home!

Disney Princess Kitchen £39.99 @ Toys R Us

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 4 December, 2010 at 9:00 am

Disney Princess Kitchen £39.99 @ Toys R UsThis Disney Princess Kitchen is the sort of toy that fills me with horror; my daughter would have LOVED it when she was small and so might yours.

Your little princess will be able to fulfil her dreams of cullinary domestic drudgery role play with this Disney Princess Kitchen.

She'll be able to slave over a (pretend) hot stove for the other members of the royal household and then, lucky her, she'll even get to wash up, dry up and put away afterwards.

I ask you, what more could a little girl aspire to?!

It's a good thing my job is just to tell you about deals I come across, rather than try and SELL it to you - I think I would get a black mark against my name for this one.

All of that said, this Disney Princess Kitchen does come with a lot of features.

It says says 11 fun phrases and makes realistic kitchen sounds: the recipe book will give you 'magical' cooking ideas when you turn the pages, the tap makes water sounds and the oven talks - ohhh be still my beating heart! (ohhh I SO need a sarcasm font!)

It come with 18 accessories which include Mrs Potts, a frying pan, phone, cups and saucers plus other bits of kitchen paraphernalia.

The Disney Princess Kitchen is currently half price at £39.99 and is available for home delivery or in-store collection.

Toy Story Lotso Huggin Bear £34.97 @ Toys R Us

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 3 December, 2010 at 8:00 am

Toy Story Lotso Huggin Bear £34.97 @ Toys R Us

If you're one of the parents who paid over £50 for the Toy Story Lotso Huggin Bear, you might want to look away now, as Toys R Us have them back in stock again, and have reduced them to £34.97 - £5.00 less than RRP.

Some love him, some hate him, but either way, Lotso Huggin Bear has been in high demand since Toy Story 3 graced our screens earlier this year. He has also been sold out for a fair amount of that time, causing parents to pay way more than RRP for him.

Lotso Huggin Bear has poseable arms and legs and velcro hands for easy hugging. His eyes close when you lay him down, just like in the movie.

He laughs when you tickle his feet, and pressing his hands will have him 'talking' to you. Lotso also responds to the tone and volume of your voice.

2AA Batteries are included for 'try me' purposes, and you might need to replace them pretty soon, so have a few on hand!

Lotso Huggin Bear also includes a Toy Story Collection Certificate of Authenticity – which may or may not matter much to your Toy Story lovin', Huggin Bear wanting little one.

50% Off Leapfrog Tag Games @ Toys R Us

Toys R Us have a BOGOF offer on Leapster Tag software, essentially making them half price.

We reviewed the fabby interactive Leapfrog Tag reading system here at PlayPennies HQ last month and pretty much loved it.

Toys R Us have a great range of 'books' for the Tag system, including: Disney Princesses, Dora the Explorer, Scooby Doo, Ben 10, Disney Cars, Disney Fairies, Toy Story 3, Spongebob Squarepants and the Disney Pixar Book.

If you buy any two of the books for £12.97, which is a great price for hours upon hours of entertainment.

Quoting from our review, “It’s a great use of technology, educational to the nth degree, and well worth every penny spent in entertaining the kids at home on cold afternoons, or long trips away over Christmas. As a Christmas present it really does sit at the top of the pile for genius. “

Toys R Us offers delivery for £4.95, but orders over £50.00 are delivered free of charge, so it may be worth checking the offers section too.

*Remember you'll need the Leapfrog Tag System to operate these!

Sylvanian Families: Buy Two Get Third Free @ Toys R Us

Sylvanian Families: Buy Two Get Third Free @ Toys R UsIf you're a Sylvanian Families collector, or wannabe collector perhaps, then you need to pop over to Toys R Us to pick up some Sylvanian Families bargains

This really isn't my sort of thing but for those who love the little Sylvanian Families gang then this is perfect timing for Christmas.

The 'buy two, get third free' offer at Toys R Us started on the 22nd November and is running until the 5 December, which is a week on Sunday so you haven't got unlimited time between now and Christmas to make your mind up.

If you're new to the world of Sylvanian Families, then let me tell you about them.

Originating in Japan (where else!), the Sylvanian Families characters have actually been around since 1985 (I remember when the adverts for them hit TV screens!) and by the early 1990s people were going MAD for them.

They are little anthropomorphised forest animals that you can collect and buy houses for and all sorts of other related bits and pieces.

Think dolls houses but for hedgehogs, mice and rabbits!

So if they are your cup of tea, don't forget the Buy Two Get Third FREE deal on all Sylvanian Families, at Toys R Us, ends on Sunday 5 December.

City Train Table And Railway Set £99.00 @ Toys R Us

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 19 November, 2010 at 7:00 pm

City Train Table And Railway Set £99.00 @ Toys R Us

The fantastic City Train table and railway set is half price at Toys R Us at £99.00, down from £199.99.

Okay, I admit, this might not be the cheapest deal around, and it's not exactly going to be a stocking filler, but if you were in the market for a fantastic present for a special little someone, this is a great deal.

Quoting from Toys R Us: “This playtable will keep the little ones entertained for hours! The play table has a wooden frame and decorated play board with a wooden railway layout and includes table, baseboard, trees, trains and much more!

There are over 7 metres of track and all manner of stations, tunnels and bridges. This train table also features electronic lights and sounds to entertain.”

It's remarkably reasonably sized for something that contains that much track - 125(l) x 83(w) x 45(h) cm.

Toys R Us recommend the City Train table and railway set for the over threes, and they claim it helps develop motor skills, visual skills and – although I'm not sure how they work this one out – linguistic skills.

I guess when you're lost in a make believe world, and even better if you share it with someone else, there's probably a lot to talk about!

And as an added bonus, it's an over £50.00 spend, so qualifies for free delivery.

I'm sure this fab set would just make someone's day!

Ben 10 Ultimate Omnitrix

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 13 November, 2010 at 9:00 am

Ben 10 Ultimate OmnitrixBack in the spring I had to ask Lynley what Ben 10 was all about; thanks to her, and my youngest's newly-discovered passion for the young superhero, I can now tell you all about Ben 10 and things like this Ben 10 Ultimate Omnitrix!

Omni-what?

Omnitrix - Ben Tennyson is a young boy (teenager now in the latest Ultimate Alien series, he was much younger in the first series...oh yes, there's been more than one!)  and he's an alien hunter.

He found the Omnitrix one day and it allows him to transform into various different aliens himself, so he can defeat the bad guys..."HUMUNGOSAUR!!!"

I've seen the Ben 10 movie, the Sky box is set to Ben 10 series record and I have a four-year-old who'd love his very own Ben 10 Ultimate Omnitrix, and at £8.99 rather than £17.99 I'd love to buy it for him...if he didn't already have one!

There's nothing worse than buying something and then finding it cheaper *sigh*

It features lights, sounds and mimics the Omnitrix's holographic images by attaching the mini transucent figure, which comes with it, to the base, unlocking the alien's special image and sound!

It requires an LR44 watch battery (that's included too) and you can reserve your Ben 10 Ultimate Omnitrix to collect in-store, saving yourself £4.95 delivery; marvellous!

This looks ace. I remember having hours of fun with toys like this. You can really let your imagination go, and explore all sorts of fun. The pictures show other bits and pieces like balloons and a kiosk and so forth. I imagine that these are all included in the set.

SO , as an awesome Christmas present for your kids or grandchildren, the Playmobil Dolphin basin is way down in price and definitely worth a closer look.

Thomas and Cranky Coal Loader £17.49 @ Toys R Us

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 6 November, 2010 at 2:00 pm

Thomas and Cranky Coal Loader £17.49 @ Toys R UsSSSHHH!!! Please don’t say, “Thomas and Cranky Coal Loader! For £17.49 instead of £39.99!” out loud, my youngest will hear you and then I’ll be in BIG trouble!

He's already clued up on how to spot a bargain, "It's not very expensive mummy, it only costs a tiny piece!"

A tiny piece of what I'm not quite sure but you know how relentless the pester-power of a four-year-old is, right?

We have the mining version of this Thomas and Cranky Coal Loader and it’s brilliant; hours of fun have been had with it and if we didn’t already have almost every Thomas toy known to man, I’d buy it, but we do – so I’m not going to.

But you see, my youngest loves Cranky and all cranes have been called Cranky ever since he could talk – and he’d love this…I’m still not going to buy it!

Thomas and Cranky work together as a team loading coal. Thomas takes the coal to the quarry and carries it up the lift where he drops it in to the hopper at the top. It drops down the chute where it’s ready for Cranky to lift up and put into the loading bay!

I’m telling you, there’s endless fun to be had just doing that over and over again and your little Thomas fan will LOVE you forever...well, until the next Thomas thing hits the shelves.

You can collect this from your nearest Toys R Us or have it delivered for £4.95.

Bakugan Discounts @ ToysRUs

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 30 October, 2010 at 3:00 pm

Bakugan Discounts @ ToysRUsToys R Us have some great Bakugan discounts on at the moment; great news if you have a Bakugan fan in your household!

I was introduced to, and taught the ways of, Bakugan yesterday by my four-year-old who was very patient with me.

I'm still somewhat confused about what they're all about but he's very certain on one thing - Bakugans are COOL!

From what I can gather they are a bit like Top Trumps, in so far as each Bakugan has various skill, ability and fighting levels and you 'battle' to see who can become the Bakugan Master.

That's where the similarity ends though as you don't just have Bakugan cards, you have Bakugan dragonoid figures too.  They're like little balls which pop open to reveal the 'alien' thing on the inside.

You can see why patience was required when explaining this to me can't you...

If you're new to Bakugan the Bakugan Brawlers game pack for £19.97, instead of £24.99, will get you started.

If you want to go down the electronic route then the Bakugan Battle Brawlers game for the Nintendo Wii is half price now at £12.47.

There are all sorts of Bakugan accessories and individual characters to collect - it's like a whole new world!

Dickie Mega Digger £24.99 @ Toys R Us

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 23 October, 2010 at 3:00 pm

Dickie Mega Digger £24.99 @ Toys R UsToys R Us have a lovely half price deal on this Dickie Mega Digger! Bringing it down to £24.99 from £49.99.

Diggers have been part of my life since my youngest fell in love with JCBs and learned all about Joseph Cyril Bamford - he was the only nearly-three-yer-old I've ever known who could tell you all about the history of the JCB.

We have books about diggers.

He loves going to Digger Land - if you have a little digger fan then we can highly recommend it!

His favourite song is the JCB song by Nizlopi...you're getting that he loves diggers, right?

So can you imagine how excited he'd be if he discovered this remote control Dickie Mega Digger under the tree on Christmas morning?

It's a 1:14 scale model that is powered by 6 AA batteries, which are NOT included, and it has a rotating cab and a moving arm.

If that wasn't enough, then it also features realistic sounds and has flashing lights too.

You can arrange to collect this in store for FREEEE or pay £4.95 for standard delivery to your home.

Lego Creative Value Pack £29.99 @ Toys R Us

This is a pretty awesome deal from Toys R Us with this gigantinormous Lego pack marked down from £44.99 to only £29.99. Containing 1021 pieces (wooow) this set has loads of fun for little hands over half term.

This particular kit contains the Lego for ages four and up, so the pieces are somewhat smaller than the younger group, and comes with some great ideas for kids to build and create.

It is an ideal set for anyone starting out with Lego – there are so many pieces that they can spend hours building all sorts of funky designs. We have a thing for building all the pieces into towers and seeing how high they can go before they fall over. It’s hours of fun.

The kit can be reserved if you want to save on delivery, or you can have it delivered for a fee. It’s rare that Toys R Us come in cheaper than other people so nab this deal and get yourself an awesome Christmas present.

Little Tikes Side by Side Kitchen

Ooooh! Quick! This Little Tikes Side by Side Kitchen is half price over at Toys R Us - it's normally £99.99 but has been reduced down to £49.99;I do love a good half price deal!

I was going to say 'now your child can unleash their inner Gordon Ramsay with this Little Tikes Side by Side kitchen...' but on reflection that probably wouldn't be such a good thing!

So...how about they release their inner Raymond Blanc instead, he's a much better culinary role model to aspire to.

He's completely self taught you know! Imagine in 20 years time and your child is one of the country's rising cooking stars, the interviewer asks, "What first triggered your passion for cooking?"

"It was when I got a Little Tikes Side by Side kitchen for Christmas when I was four years old," they reply. Well you NEVER know!

It fits neatly into the corner and has an oven, sink, fridge, faux granite countertop and comes with lots of accessories.

It's suitable for wannabe chefs aged three and over, makes realistic electronic kitchen noises too.

Standard delivery, if you don't want to collect your Little Tikes Side by Side kitchen for free, is £4.95.

K'Nex Amusement Park Ferris Wheel £14.99 @ Toys R Us

by Lynley Oram in Deals on 9 October, 2010 at 6:00 pm

K'Nex Amusement Park Ferris Wheel £14.99 @ Toys R UsK'Nex is huge in our house right now. My son has the dinosaur set and he loves it. He makes up all his own designs though, preferring that to following instructions. And he needs help when he does do one of the models in the manual from mum or dad (he's five). I know he'd love this - maybe not now but definitely in the future so it is something that's worth our while to buy now and put aside for a year. It is the K'Nex Amusement Park Ferris Wheel on sale for half price (£14.99) at Toys R Us

From the comments made over at our sister site HUKD, it would seem that this is an offer that's only available online. Other posters have seen it full price in store. Standard delivery is £4.95. The other sets in the Amusement Park range are also available at half price.

My step daughter was into K'Nex and we got her this when she was 10. And she loved it. So much so that she still has it (and is now 25)! Which means we need to buy another one for her little brother.

When complete the ride stands 1.5 feet tall. It is built with a combination of 478 K'nex rods, connectors and bricks. There's a motor included, which the websites says "provides realistic thrill ride performance".

I speak from experience when I say that this is a lot of fun to build, but it takes time. And you definitely want to start somewhere you can leave the model over time, so you don't have to move it around the house mid-construction.

Thanks to lovebargain at HUKD!
