Lego Kids Toy Story Woody Kids Watch With Minifigure £11.53 @ Amazon

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 17 April, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Lego Kids Toy Story Woody Kids Watch With Minifigure £11.53 @ Amazon

Toy story and Lego have come together and created a fun and exciting new watch and Amazon have reduced it by 39% from £18.99 to £11.53. Delivery is free, and along with the watch you’ll receive a Lego Woody Mini-Figure.

The Lego Toy Story watch can be customised to suit your preferences. The watch band has interchangeable links and the blue bezel can be swapped for the red one, so there’s loads of fun to be had on the go.

The watch is powered by Japanese Quartz Movement and features a scratch resistant mineral crystal, making it reliable and durable, and most importantly, (relatively) child proof.

Coming up for summer, you’ll be happy to know that it’s also water resistant up to 50 meters, so running through the sprinkler or jumping into your local pool isn’t going to end its life.

Considering its apparent quality, the Lego Kids Toy Story Woody Kids Watch does seem to be pretty good value for the price!

Toy Story Talking Buzz Lightyear £25 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 4 January, 2012 at 10:00 am

Toy Story Talking Buzz Lightyear £25 @ AmazonI'm not a huge fan of Toy Story - almost borderline heresy, I know, but I just didn't really warm to any of the characters.  Woody was too much of a goody-goody, Bo Peep just irritated me and as for Buzz Lightyear...well just looking at him and hearing his voice irritates me beyond belief!

You won't be surprised to learn, then, that I won't be rushing over to Amazon to pick up at Toy Story Talking Buzz Lightyear, even though they have reduced him down to £25 from £49.99.

He was/is just so superior, so full of his own self-importance and I could really get into full blown ranting mode about how much Buzz Lightyear grates on my nerves - I really must remind myself that he's not real!

However, if you are a fan of the arrogant space ranger then you're going to love having a Toy Story Talking Buzz Lightyear - he says 65 Buzz Lightyear sayings (in his original voice (someone rip my ears off now!)) and he has an interactive talk back feature.

He can also change between Space Ranger and toy modes and  has a retractable helmet, flip-up wrist communicator and body with sensors for interactive responses.  If that's not enough for you, he's fully poseable with pop-out wings, has glow-in-the-dark trim and multiple lights - he even comes with the three AAA batteries he needs too.

Delivery of your Toy Story Talking Buzz Lightyear is free if you choose the SuperSaver delivery option, which is always the best option unless you need things pronto.

Woolworths.co.uk Back To School Review

by Luschka van Onselen in Reviews on 5 August, 2011 at 1:00 pm

Woolworths.co.uk Back To School Review

It’s rare on PlayPennies that we hear a man’s voice, so when it happens it’s rather exciting! When we received a bunch of back to school goodies for a boy, we asked Edward, the five-year old son of Samantha, one of our PlayPennies mums for his feedback.

I must admit, I really miss Woolworths. They were great for browsing odds and ends, and while the online store is great, it just doesn’t feel the same. None the less, we received a back pack and some back to school clothes and thought we’d put them to the test for you.

Woolworths.co.uk Back To School Review

First up was the Toy Story 'Buzz and Woody' back pack (for £8.99). Apparently, Edward liked them.  “It was easy for me to carry”, he told us, “as it's not too big.” Mum had a different view though, as she felt it wasn’t big enough for a school bag.

“If you wanted to use it as a school bag you might have trouble fitting a lunchbox and other school paraphernalia in it,” she said.

The straps are adjustable and the front Toy Story design is wipe clean - a good thing for boys, said Mum,”… as their bags tend to be unceremoniously dumped in the playground, at the park on the way home from school and then again when they get home.”
Of course, it’s that time of year again where parents with children of school going age are on the prowl for the best bargains on back to school wear, and Woolworths have always had great prices to offer.

Woolworths.co.uk Back To School ReviewFor example, starting from £10 - £16 depending on size, the Top Class Pleat Front Black Trousers went down really well with Edward’s Mum, although Edward himself just shrugged and said “They’re trousers.” Can’t get much past that one, can we!

But he’s not too far wrong. What can you really say about black school trousers?

They're black,” (they do come in grey and navy too) “and have an adjustable waistband” Mum told us.  She did have some useful insights though, saying “this is very handy and, to be honest, we'd be lost without it or would have to do battle with belts; belts and five-year-olds really don't mix well.”

Really, it’s the quality I’d have questions over, because a great price is only a great price if you don’t have to buy two or three times the amount to replace items throughout the year. “The trousers are of a decent quality for the price and they're teflon coated too; again, handy for boys who have scant regard for keeping anything clean and think nothing of clambering up trees with their school uniform on.”

Samantha feels the way most of us do, I’m sure. Why pay a fortune for something short lived?

“I'm happy not to pay a premium for school trousers quite frankly - children of a certain age grow like weeds and why would you pay a massive amount for trousers that they're going to grow out of in the blink of an eye?”

So Samantha’s final words on the trousers  from Woolworths were positive:

They washed well and dried quickly and if Edward's school trouser colour was black then they'd definitely be added to his school trouser collection.”

Woolworths.co.uk Back To School ReviewFinally, the Top Class Zip-up Jacket also ranges from £10 - £16 depending  on size, but our mum and son pair were less enamoured by it.

The rain jacket folds ups small, is light weight, looks ok and has a thin reflective strip, but other than that it's plain - Edward really didn't like it!  His first reaction when he saw it was, ‘It's BORING!’”

Thing is, that’s probably what you need for ‘Back to  School’, if you need a jacket to conform to school rules.  While it might not be great for taking on holiday – I saw a kid with a Ben 10 one yesterday and he refused to take it off, even indoors! – it is ideal for school. Especially since it folds up small.

Short of making Edward stand with the jacket on and pouring water over him from a watering can, I can't vouch for the waterproofness of the jacket and I haven’t been able to convince him to wear it - I was up for that, it sounded quite fun to me, but Edward wasn't so keen!”

Overall Samantha couldn't find fault with any of the things she was sent – she felt  they were good value for money, the coat will conform to most school uniform rules, and the bag, though small, was great for small boys.

Toy Story Buzz Gazillion Bubble Blower £7.50 @ The Entertainer

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 3 August, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Toy Story Buzz Gazillion Bubble Blower £7.50 @ The Entertainer

The Toy Story Buzz Gazillion Bubble Blower is currently £7.50 at The Entertainer, which is a 50% saving. It’s also one of the cheapest prices around with prices starting at £13.99 in other places.

My daughter absolutely loves bubbles, and we can have hours of fun in the garden with me blowing bubbles and her chasing them. I also have some absolutely beautiful photos of her chasing bubbles with a look of absolute wonder on her face. I must admit though that it does sometimes get a bit boring, so I’m thinking this might be a wonderful invention to keep her entertained – although I wonder if it’ll be as much fun for her if I’m not playing along?

Either way, this Toy Story Buzz Gazillion Bubble Blower comes with a bubble solution, and creates an ‘endless stream of bubbles’. It requires 3 AA batteries  which aren’t included.

This is also available in Winnie the Pooh, which I think will be a brilliant addition to my daughter’s birthday party – especially at this price – it’s also £7.50 but only requires two batteries.

Toy Story Pop Up Tidy, Bin And Storage Bag £5.00 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 5 July, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Toy Story Pop Up Tidy, Bin And Storage Bag £5.00 @ TescoAnything that encourages kids to be tidy has to be a good thing; Tesco are selling this Toy Story Pop Up Tidy, bin and storage bag for £5.00 instead of £10.00 - another good thing!

Pop up tidy storage 'things' (well, their not boxes are they so I'm not sure what else to call them) are marvellous inventions.

Quick and easy to 'pop up' and featuring all the favourite Toy Story characters, they are ideal for engaging in a bit of parental persuasion, "Woody would want you to be tidy and put your toys away," and "What would Buzz Lightyear think about all your toys being left laying around if he popped in to visit?"

I'm not beyond such underhanded behaviour, although I've found those tactics don't work with teenagers - posting pictures of the horror that is their bedrooms on Facebook for all their friends to see does though, and yes I have really done that - I enjoyed every minute of the fallout from it too *grin*

You don't have to use the pop up tidy for toys though, you could use it as a laundry basket and the storage bag could be used as a PE kit bag or for stashing swimming stuff.

Delivery will cost you another £5.00 which isn't such a deal, so click and collect for free instead if you can.

Toy Story Aqua Doodle £12.99 @ Toys R Us

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 18 June, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Toy Story Aqua Doodle £12.99 @ Toys R Us

The Tomy Toy Story Aqua Doodle mat is less than half price at Toys R Us. Usually £29.99, it’s now £12.99 giving you a lovely £17.00 off.

I really love the Aqua Doodle concept. It’s something we’ve seen in a number of different presentations now, and I think it’s a brilliant way of helping kids be creative, without too much mess and equipment – probably making it ideal for travel and holidays, or waiting in the doctor’s offices.

This Aqua Doodle features Woody and Buzz LIghtyear from Toy Story. Woody doubles up a s a pen and stamper and Buzz Lightyear’s wings can be “activated” – whatever that means – and he is also a roller, creating stars and planets as he flies along the mat.

You simply fill the characters with water and draw on the mat. The pictures will eventually fade, and you can start all over again.

It seems unfortunate that they don’t provide two pens though.

But even so, it looks like a great product at a good price.

Toy Story Ride On Toy £14.97 @ Asda

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 9 June, 2011 at 11:00 am

Toy Story Ride On Toy £14.97 @ AsdaOh this is cute - this Toy Story ride-on toy is £14.97, it's currently £24.99 at Play and Amazon.

I love simple toys like this; there's a lot to be said for good old-fashioned ride-on fun.

This Toy Story ride-on toy isn't quite as retro so as to not require batteries because it, of course, has light and sound effects.

It plays music, makes realistic engine and horn sounds (really? Realistic engine sounds...I'd be impressed if they were) along with colourful rotating gears, sliding characters and a removeable toy phone.

Whilst your youngster might think they're just having fun on their Toy Story ride-on toy, the rotating gears, sliding gears and buttons on the phone are helping to develop their fine motor skills.

Sitting and scooting along on it will be improving their sense of balance and develop strong and healthy leg muscles;  and YOU thought it was just another Toy Story toy too.

The Toy Story ride-on toy is suitable for little people aged between 12 months and 3 years; the lights and sounds will need 2AA batteries to run and they are included; yippeee, I do dislike it when batteries aren't included.

Disney Princess Or Toy Story 200-Piece Art Case £9.99 @ Toys R Us

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 16 May, 2011 at 11:00 am

Disney Princess Or Toy Story 200-Piece Art Case £9.99 @ Toys R UsOh my goodness, this is a great deal - Toys R Us are selling this Disney Princess or Toy Story 200 piece art case for half price.

I would have LOVED this as a child; I've always been very arty and, if you're that way inclined, you can never have too many pens, pencils, paints or sheets of plain paper!

I know I'm living in La-La-Land when I say that this will mean all your child's art things can be kept neat, tidy and in one place (well it will if YOU put everything away each time) but at least the potential is there for instilling tidiness in your kids.

The Disney Princess art case is, obviously, very pink and will delight all wannabe arty princesses - I'm just mesmerised looking at the picture with everything lined up in correct colour orders; I almost want one for myself.

Although I'm not a 'pink' person so I'd probably go for the Toy Story art case which is a much nicer shade of blue, but contains all the same 200 pens, pencils, crayons, paints, brushes and pastels as the Disney Princess version.

At £9.99 these art cases are a real bargain, you just couldn't buy everything seperately for the same price - let alone find a pencil case big enough to fit it all in!

You can arrange to collect this instore for free, or you can pay £4.95 for standard delivery to your home.

Happy getting arty!

Lego Toy Story Western Train Chase £38.57 @ Amazon

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 25 April, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Lego Toy Story Western Train Chase £38.57 @ Amazon

The Lego Toy Story Western Train Chase set is currently just £38.57 at Amazon giving you 53% off the RRP of £81.99. And if you think that’s an inflated price, you’ll find the same Lego Toy Story Western Train Chase set at Play.com for a whopping £89.90 – which, is a hectic price tag for a bit of Lego, in my opinion!

The outstanding Lego Toy Story Western Train Chase  set is a perfect replica of the train in the movie, say reviewers of this set.  “The colours are vivid, the details are amazing and it glides smoothly on the RC tracks”, says reviewer OldBuilder.

The set comes with a construction booklet and there are 584 assorted LEGO bricks in various shapes. Included are Evil Doctor Porkchops, Rex, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie and Bullseye minifigures. There are magnetic bricks between the various carriages which hold them together, and if you have the Lego City Rails, this set is fully compatible.

The three train cars come complete with opening roofs, fully  functioning doors and trap doors along the rooftops for Lego-styled train-surfing. Or something less dangerous!

There’s free delivery, but at this price, I don’t expect the offer to last terribly long!

Toy Story Poncho £5.00 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 6 March, 2011 at 8:00 am

Toy Story Poncho £5.00 @ AmazonAmazon are selling this Toy Story Poncho for £5.00 instead of £9.99

Things lke this Toy Story Poncho are ideal for kids who are little water babies.

My youngest has swimming lessons every Friday and all of the 'Frogs' (as his class are called) come out of the pool, after their lesson, and proceed to shuffle along the poolside with their little arms wrapped around them whilst shivering like...well, like little shivering things.

A Toy Story Poncho whipped over the head pretty sharpish would solve that.

They are also handy for throwing in a beach bag - yes, that's the bag that's tucked away in the back of the cupboard that rarely gets to see the light of day; although I'm confident that THIS year could see the return of some serious summer weather for our shores.  I have nothing to base that on, no secret Met Office information - I just don't think I could stand another non-summer.

The Toy Story Poncho is machine washable at 40C (if you really must wash at 40C instead of 30C) and it can be tumble dried too, but as it's made from towelling it really isn't going to take very long to dry on the washing line or thrown over a radiator.

Toy Story 3 Buddy Packs BOGOF £5 @ The Hut

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 4 March, 2011 at 8:00 am

Toy Story 3 Buddy Packs BOGOF £5 @ The Hut

Toy Story 3 Buddy Packs are currently buy one get one free at The Hut. The figurines are already discounted by 35%, making them £5 from £7.99. Add the BOGOF offer and you're getting them for £2.50 each – and there's free delivery.

The Toy Story Buddy Pack contains two 2” mini action figures with either their favourite buddy or an arch rival. You can choose which ones you want, and you can buy two different ones and still qualify for the BOGOF offer. Most of the sets come with Woody, so you're going to have spares.

The sets available are the Hero Woody and the horse whose name I can't find anywhere, Waving Woody and Chatterphone, Laser Buzz and Walking Woody, Lotso Bear and Big Baby, Communicator Buzz and Walking Woody, and Waving Woody and Bullseye. (There are a few other sets, such as Hero Woody and Protector Buzz, and Waving Woody and Green Army Men, but they are £6.93 and BOGOF)

The idea of these is that you can recreate scenes from the movie, or, of course, make up your own stories.

They're quite small, so probably not for very little children, but there's no age limit indicated.

Toy Story Lots-O-Huggin Bear £29.99 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 2 March, 2011 at 11:00 am

Toy Story Lots-O-Huggin Bear £29.99 @ AmazonAmazon have taken a tenner off this Toy Story Lots-O-Huggin Bear and are letting him go to good homes for £29.99 instead of £39.99

I think I'm one of the few people on the planet who hasn't seen Toy Story 3 (in fact, I'm not sure I've seen all of Toy Story 2 either) so I have no idea who Lots-O-Huggin Bear is...I'm guessing he's very cuddly and likes to give lots of hugs...?

This Toy Story Lots-O-Huggin Bear does more than just hug, I've discovered.

If you press his left hand you'll hear "Toy Story" phrases and press his right hand to hear "Come Alive" phrases.

He has velcro on his hands too so they stick together for maximum hugging AND he's got poseable arms and legs with 'tickle' sensors in his feet - he's sounding rather cute.

And if that's not enough for you, Toy Story Lots-O-Huggin Bear responds accordingly to the tone and volume of your voice; does that mean he gets upset with you if you shout at him?

Toy Story 3 Ultimate Buzz Lightyear £64.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 14 February, 2011 at 10:00 am

Toy Story 3 Ultimate Buzz Lightyear £64.99 @ Argos*ATTENTION* Argos are selling this Toy Story 3 Ultimate Buzz Lightyear for LESS THAN HALF PRICE - £64.99 instead of bank balance busting £149.99

This Toy Story 3 Ultimate Buzz Lightyear is a must for any Toy Story fan - he's a walking, talking, animated Buzz Lightyear robot.

Out of all the Toy Story characters I must confes that Buzz Lightyear is one of my least favourites, there's something about him that just irritates me, although not as much as Jessie - she REALLY gets up my nose.

Ultimate Buzz Lightyear is suitable for little space cadets aged eight years and over and he EATS batteries - 11 AAs and 3 AAAs in fact. Seriously, get a decent rechargeable battery set otherwise you'll be battery bankrupt within three months.

On the plus side Ultimate Buzz Year sounds pretty cool. He says over 100 different phrases, you can pose his arms, legs and head and he'll record and play back those movements.

He uses infra-red wireless technology and has all sorts of flashing lights and other general robot 'things' going on.

Ultimate Buzz Lightyear isn't available for home delivery BUT I've checked stock levels with www.icheckstock.co.uk at various postcodes covering the country, and it looks as though he's currently available in most places.

I'd grab one whilst you can.

Lego Toy Story Western Train Chase £41.95 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 10 February, 2011 at 9:00 am

Lego Toy Story Western Train Chase £41.95 @ AmazonQUICK, Amazon have slashed the price of this Lego Toy Story Western Train Chase set from £81.99 down to £41.95

I must be one of the few people not to have seen Toy Story 3 yet, in fact I'm not sure if I've even seen Toy Story 2 all the way through.

I was, however, a big fan of the first Toy Story, I'm also a bit of a Lego buff so this Lego Toy Story Western Train Chase set appeals to me just a little bit...for my youngest to play with, obviously.

The £41.95 price tag appeals to me too; much as I love Lego there's no way I'd pay out the best part of £100 for any set of it, whether it be Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones OR Toy Story.

Lego Toy Story Western Train Chase comes with Evil Doctor Porkchops, Rex, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie and Bullseye mini figures, it also has four train cars with opening doors and roofs, and traps on the roof for escaping through...or diving into I suppose.

Please don't hang around too long before ordering if you want this; we all know what Amazon are like for changing their prices and it's more likely to go up than down.

Toy Story Rocket Pop Up Tent £14.99 @ Boots

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 9 January, 2011 at 6:00 pm

Toy Story Rocket Pop Up Tent £14.99 @ Boots

A fun play tent for Toy Story fans, this pop up rocket tent is now £14.99 at Boots, which is half of it's original £30.00 - and it's currently £34.99 at Amazon.

I love pop up tents. They provide hours of fun and are so easy to assemble and take down – or as a mum friend says, make a great hiding place for toys when company drops round.

This particular pop up tent has a roll up door, an escape hatch and a control panel. There's also a portable sound unit that produces three different sounds. You clip the sound unit onto the rocket control panel and away you go – infinity and beyond, and all that.

The pop up Toy Story Rocket Tent is suitable for indoor and outdoor use and is (H) 100 X (W) 68.5 X (D) 59 cm, while the adjoining tunnel is an additional (H) 43 X (W) 41 X (D) 40 cm.

For delivery from Boots you have to add £2.95 or make use of the free click and collect service from Boots.

Three-Wheel Toy Story 3 Scooter £12.49 @ Mothercare

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 29 December, 2010 at 11:00 am

Three-Wheel Toy Story 3 Scooter £12.49 @ MothercareMothercare have a lovely half-price deal on this three-wheel Toy Story 3 scooter at the moment - it's now just £12.49 instead of £25.

When you're a kid there's nothing quite like going out and about and scooting around for a bit, whilst everyone else is walking.

I loved scooting and given half the chance I'd still scoot on a scooter if I could.

Rather than the two-wheeled inline scooters, this Toy Story 3 scooter has three wheels so it's much more stable for younger scooters - they can scoot around happily without having to learn how to balance at the same time.

It's covered in everyone's favourite Toy Story character pictures, the footplate is nice and wide and the handle bars are height adjustable and have chunky hand grips too.

This Toy Story 3 three-wheeled scooter is suitable for little scooters ages three or above and is available for home delivery if you don't fancy hauling yourself into town, or if you are brave enough to hit the high streets then you can collect it from your local Mothercare.

Toy Story Interchangeable Watch £5.46 @ Amazon

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 17 December, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Toy Story Interchangeable Watch £5.46 @ Amazon

This funky 4-headed interchangeable Toy Story themed watch is currently £5.46 instead of £8.99, saving you 39%

You do sometimes have to wonder if there's anything those marketing types over at Disney/Pixar won't come up with when it comes to children's hit shows. But at the same time, they probably wouldn't be spurred on to creating if we weren't so keen on buying!

Buzz, Woody, Rex and one of those funny little 'you saved our lives' aliens are back again, and this time they're on the face of a watch. The resin band is a standard children's length, and 15mm in width. It features Woody and Buzz prominently on the strap, and has a digital time display to which you can attach each of the four 'heads'.

The Toy Story watch is water resistant to about 30 metres, which is pretty decent for a children's watch, and it has a one year manufacturer's warranty.

It's Amazon, so don't hang about as the price could change at any moment. To ensure delivery by the 24th, you'll need to choose First Class postage.

Toy Story Big Roaring Rex £12.49 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 15 December, 2010 at 4:00 pm

Toy Story Big Roaring Rex £12.49 @ Argos

Rex the Roaring Dinosaur from Toy Story is half price at Argos, selling for £12.49 instead of £24.99.

It seems this Rex is little controversial actually.

Argos says, “The tighter you squeeze Rex the bigger the roar he lets out! Bring the excitement of Toy Story 3 to life with this Rex”. The reviewers seem to think slightly differently though – apparently Rex sounds a little more like a depressed duck than a roaring dino!

For very little ones, that won't matter, as Rex is cuddly and makes a good bed time buddy, but for the parents and some of the older kids, the distinctive lack of roar might make it a no good gift.

If you can live without the roar though, this is a great gift for any Toy Story fan aged 2 years and over, and if you buy it from Argos, you'll also received a free collectors card with any Toy Story 3 item.

There's no home delivery for these, so you'll have to see if they're in stock where you are. Numbers seem rather low in all the postcodes I checked, so act quickly or you might miss out!

Half Price Toy Story Bike £44.90 @ B&Q

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 4 December, 2010 at 8:00 am

Half Price Toy Story Bike £44.90 @ B&QBikes are traditional BIG Christmas pressies, if you’re looking for a Toy Story one then pop over to B&Q (yes I know that sounds a bit weird and that it should be Halfords, but I promise it's B&Q you want for this Toy Story Bike).

I remember getting a bike for Christmas when I was little – it was a metalic lilac colour and had a little white single panier thing on the back for putting important things in, like my tea set and a book!

I remember getting a bike for Christmas when I was older – it was a Raleigh Racer and I LOVED it!

It doesn’t seem to matter how cold it is on Christmas day, if you’re the proud owner of a new bike you’re going to RIDE it! Nothing short of three feet of snow is going to stop you!

The Toy Story Bike has 14" wheels, a brightly coloured and printed tubular steel frame, front and back caliper brakes, adjustable saddle and handle bars and those all important stabilisers for the first few shaky months of learning how to ride.

The rrp for this Toy Story bike is £89.98 but Halfords have slashed that price for you and you can grab one for £44.90 by reserving it for  in-store collection online and pay when you pick it up.

With whispers that some Christmas deliveries might not make it on time due to the chaos and backlog caused by the snow,  nipping out to your local B&Q to collect this Toy Story Bike yourself suddenly sounds like a great idea!
