Toy Storage

Over-The-Door Toy Collector

by Sarah Macdonald in Misc on 1 April, 2012 at 10:00 am

Over-The-Door Toy CollectorI absolutely love this over-the-door toy collector idea that I just read over at Parent Hacks - if you've ever trodden on a Star Wars figure with up-turned arms (the figure, not YOU standing on it with up-turned arms, that would just be weird) or rogue pieces of LEGO then you're going to be rushing off to your nearest Argos this afternoon.

An over-the-door shoe organiser makes a great condo' for all those toys and bits and pieces that don't belong with anything else or have any other homes to go to when they're not being played with.

I rather like the idea of storing current LEGO creations in a pocket or two, too - my youngest is rather partial to keeping various LEGO things he's made for a little while and this would be the ideal place to keep them safe and tidied away.

Of course, you could always store the odd pair of shoes and slippers in it as well, if you've got any pockets hanging around with nothing to 'do'.

Cheap And Free Storage Ideas For Children's Rooms And Toys

by Lynley Oram in Features on 12 September, 2011 at 1:00 pm

Cheap And Free Storage Ideas For Children's Rooms And ToysAs I write this I'm sitting in my lounge, surrounded by toys. I don't mind really, it is only a few short years really that they're children and I'm happy to give up my adult space for that time. What I do find difficult is keeping it all organised, in a way that keeps sets and types of toys together making them easy to find again. And also in a way that helps to keep the clutter to a minimum in the family living areas.

Having well and truly blown this month's budget on frivolous things like new school uniform and shoes, I needed options or ideas that are cheap or preferably free to do.

Three Tier Toy Basket Storage Unit £13.49 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 22 April, 2011 at 9:00 am

Three Tier Toy Basket Storage Unit £13.49 @ Argos

These three tier toy basket storage units from Argos tend to come round from time to time and they tend to go down really well. I guess we’re all fighting the same battle against the constant stream of stuff?  Well, for £13.49 you can add nine baskets to your life, in the hope of reducing the clutter.

Truth be told, there’s absolutely no reason why these have to be just for toys. I’m pretty certain they’ll be just as useful as a craft basket, in the garage for odds and ends or a spot for magazines and newspapers to live before they go to the recycling. Whatever purpose you find for these, I’m sure they’ll do well.

The three tier storage unit isn’t massive, so be prepared for that. It’s only 65×64.5×30cm in size, but should at least get the bits of Lego and Duplo out from under your feet.

This set is flat packed and does require a bit of assembly, and it is available in pink and purple too.

4-Drawer Plastic Storage Unit £10 @ Wilkinsons

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 28 December, 2010 at 9:00 am

4-Drawer Plastic Storage Unit £10 @ WilkinsonsYou can never have too much storage! These plastic drawer storage solutions are great and have SO many uses!

In the kids bedroom for toys, in the bathroom for wet toys or bathroom bits,  in the utility room for all the junk that tends to accumulate there but for some reason mustn’t be thrown away.

Under worktops in the kitchen for extra pots and pan storage maybe, in the garage for all the things you keep in the garage that usually end up in a pile in the corner somewhere, like small garden toys, tennis balls, footballs etc.

If you have a very arty child then these plastic drawers are an ideal way of keeping pens, pencils, paper, rubbers, paints, paintbrushes and all the other arty-farty paraphernalia they accumulate in one place, and all neat and tidy.

Christmas time brings with it a while host of new toys that all need to be found homes, plastic drawers can help you out!

This four-drawer plastic storage unit from Wilkinsons was £20 but they're currently giving them away for £10 - I don't image they'll stay in stock for too long, so if you want one or two then I suggest you don't dawdle in placing your order.

You can collect your order from your local Wilkos or you can arrange to have them delivery your plastic drawers for £4.95.

Happy storing stuff!

Disney Princesses Toy Chest £27.00 @ Boots

Disney Princesses Toy Chest £27.00 @ Boots

Need a pretty storage solution for a child's room? The Disney Princesses toy chest at Boots might be just the thing you need for all those new Christmas presents. Reduced from £40.00 to £27.00, and still £39.99 at Amazon, the toy chest is already a good deal, but it's also part of the Boots 3 for 2 sale, so you could buy three and get one free or mix and match with other items.

My daughter is still only 14 months old, so 'pickup' is really just a game mummy plays where I walk around bent double saying “Pick up toys, Little Girl, pick up toys” - a little like a hen pecking around a garden.

Of course, I'm hoping that my example will rub off and by the time she's two, she thinks tidying up is a great game, and is something she simply loves doing. Hey! This is my dream!

I wonder whether one of these would help at all? At least once everything's picked up, I can shut the lid and have some semblance of order, right?

Well, there's no success without trying and this chest pops up in seconds, revealing 40x60x30 cm space for your kids' toys, games and so on.

The toy box is part of the 3 for 2 offer and you'll receive 108 Boots Clubcard points for this purchase.

Peppa Pig Pop-Up Cube Tidy

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 20 November, 2010 at 8:00 am

Peppa Pig Pop-Up Cube TidyIf you have a Peppa Pig fan in your house, then the age-old 'what to put all the new Christmas toys in' question will  be nicely solved with this Peppa Pig Pop-Up Cube Tidy.

I love fun and functional things like this Peppa Pig Pop-Up Cube Tidy - it's all pink and Peppary which your little fan will adore AND because of that, touch wood, the agony of trying to get your child to put their toys away should be relieved...even if only temporarily until the novelty wears off!

It's made from polyeseter so it can be wiped clean as and when necessary, and its dimensions are:  (H)44, (W)29, (D)29cm

Not huge, but then huge toy boxes/storage things are a pain!

All of the small toys fall through to the very bottom and you end up having to take everything out to get to them - so I've found that a few smaller toy storage solutions is far easier to manage and maintain, both for me and for the kids.

The retail price shoud be £6.99, but Play have knocked a couple of quid off for PRE-ORDERS of this Peppa Pig Pop-Up Cube Tidy, and letting them go for £5. They are due for release on Friday 26 November and I have no idea whether the £5 price will be maintained.
