Little Helper FunPack Cooking Utensils £3.99 @ Amazon

The lovely Little Helper FunPack Cooking Utensil set is currently £3.99 instead of £7.99 at Amazon, giving you a fab 50% off for a very nice little gift, or rather substantial stocking filler for a budding MasterChef.

Have you come across My Daddy Cooks? It’s a fab website by a dad who cooks with his young son, and their videos are really cute to watch. I first saw MDC when my daughter was only a few months old, and since then I’ve been dying to get her involved in the kitchen. Now we do I really take my hat off to that dad for his patience in the kitchen and have really taken to appreciate the value of imaginary food from the play kitchen, so I think this set will make a lovely addition to our collection.

This set comes with a mini apron and toddler-sized utensiils to help mum (and dad) out in the kitchen.  The utensils are a spoon, fork, rolling pin, and whisk and it’s a great way to educate your toddler about the whole food experience, and hopefully get them more interested in eating too.

Mini Mouse Play Kitchen £23.44 @ Amazon

Mini Mouse Play Kitchen £23.44 @ AmazonAmazon have reduced the price of this Mini Mouse Play Kitchen by 33% - it's £23.44 now instead of £34.99.

I'm not usually a fan of play kitchens, but I have to confess I find this Mini Mouse Kitchen rather cute.  There are three separate play modes: Cooking, dining and washing up - if this toy kitchen was in my house, THAT would be the mode least played with unless it came with a real nagging mummy too.

A food mixer flips up from the body of the Mini Mouse play kitchen and is operated by hand (there's no need for any batteries with this toy kitchen - hurrah!); when the mixer is folded down out of the way there's a draining rack for all the washing up.

The oven has a timer, there's a fridge and a BBQ grill, ceramic hob, sink with taps (handy I always find, to have a sink with taps) and there are 17 accessories included too, such as pots, pans and a rolling pin.

If you want more accessories for your Mini Mouse Kitchen then you can buy them separately, but just for good measure a set of real recipe cards have been included for you to try out in your real kitchen.

All the usual Amazon delivery options apply - you can have your Mini Mouse Kitchen delivered for free with the SuperSaver Delivery option, or pay a little bit more to have it delivered faster.

Daisy Tabletop Wooden Kitchen Review

Daisy Tabletop Wooden Kitchen Review

I'll start this Daisy Tabletop Wooden Kitchen review off with a  little anecdote. A few months ago, I set an upside-down pot on the kitchen floor and gave my (then 14 month old) daughter a wooden spoon. Instead of banging it with the gusto only a toddler can muster, she turned the pot over and started to stir the invisible contents. Dear daughter had of course seen me do this many times, while she was in my arms and I was busily prepping dinner at the cooker.

My daughter is now about 17 months old and is really starting to understand the role-play style of learning through play. We were at her playgroup and I saw her playing with the teapot and cups, so I resolved to get her some kitchen items of her very own. I received this cute Daisy Tabletop Wooden Kitchen by Tidlo of John Crane which is about £35 at Dillons Toy Box.

Firstly, a word about the quality of this kitchen: When I took this little tabletop kitchen out of the box, I was a little disappointed when one of the wooden parts seemed to be detached from the toy. I don't think that it was supposed to come apart, but I was able to slot it back into place with ease. Following on from the disappointment in the unboxing, it was all uphill from there.

The actual Daisy Tabletop Wooden Kitchen set is really pretty, lovely colours and cute designs on both the kitchen itself, and on the extra implements. It comes with 3 spoon / spatulas, 2 pots with one lid, salt and pepper shakers, and a fried egg! It also folds up so you can store it away when not in use, which is pretty handy if you don't have much space to spare.

To be honest, I was quite surprised how much my little daughter likes this Daisy Tabletop Wooden Kitchen. It's sitting on the living room floor, and she keeps going back to it to play. She's constantly stirring the invisible beouf bourguignon in the little pots, and carrying them round the house with her. I sometimes find the spoons in various places round my home too; down the back of the sofa, under the kitchen table, in the bath... they get about!

When I was small, I never had a play kitchen and was always supremely jealous of the rich kids in my class with their amazing deluxe play kitchens at home. If you want a little kitchen for your child but haven't got that much spare space or cash, then the Daisy Tabletop Wooden Kitchen could be a good fit for you.

Toy Wooden Kitchen £78 @GLTC

by Heidi Scrimgeour in Deals on 31 March, 2010 at 11:00 am

GLTC have some cracking children's toys lurking in the clearance section of their Toy Wooden Kitchen £78 @GLTCwebsite just now.

This wooden country kitchen washing machine is a stylish but practical twist on the usual plastic varieties of toy kitchens and at £39.00 (down from £65.00) it's a pretty reasonable alternative.

The matching sink is the same price, which means both items can be yours for £78.00 instead of the usual £130.

The sink measures 53cmH x 43cmW x 36cmD and comes complete with a checked splashback and a useful, realistic storage cupboard beneath the sink.

If my lads are anything to go by, little boys love playing kitchens just as much as little girls do (and why shouldn't they?) but they also love wrecking things - so wooden versions definitely appeal to me - much sturdier and altogether less likely to be yanked apart and turned into a fort or a pirate ship!

Toy Wooden Kitchen £78 @GLTCThese wooden kitchen toys are definitely at the higher end of the price scale than many of the plastic versions but at these clearance prices they could make a lovely  treat for a birthday boy or girl. Or if you're inclined to start your Christmas shopping early, it's worth picking these up  while they're at this price and putting them away. Who knows, they might even work as bribes for keeping little people on their best behaviour for the rest of the year!
