The Tidlo Motorbike Balance Bike is an old favourite around here. It is a 'realistically styled' motorbike balance bike which evolved from John Crane's own label toys.

The bike is bright and colourful, and promotes outdoor play which is fantastic in the lovely weather we're having today.

A balance bike is a fantastic way to promote the sense of balance, which is so essential for normal functioning. The bike has pneumatic tyres, a comfortable padded seat and easy grip handlebars. This would make a great gift for any lucky boy or girl.

The pneumatic rubber tyres are included for comfort as well as speed and the easy to hold handles make controlling the bike easy and safe. Getting on and off the scooter couldn’t be easier, apparently, and the seat is robust and comfortable. It's also well suited to both indoor and outdoor use.

This bike is suitable for ages 3 and up, and the seat is height adjustable between 32-37cm and the handlebar rests at a good 79cm. It does require a little home assembly, but they call it 'simple home assembly', so that must be a good thing.

Well, maybe not tear up the roads - if my toddler's anything to go by, it's more a matter of tear up your knees, but we've  learned our lesson and mainly 'ride' on the grass now. I'll tell you what, getting your little one on a bicycle is no mean feat! It's actually pretty tough - and back breaking - work!

It’s still one a lot of money for a balance bike, I guess, but wow – what a stylish looking bit of kit! It’s definitely smarter than many other first bikes out there and has the look of Italian pizazz about it.

The Tidlo Scooter Balance Bike has easy grip handles to hold on to and pneumatic tyres, which are reinforced rubber filled with compressed air. The wooden scooter comes in a brilliant red colour, with a painted seat, handlebars and wheels, and the frame is also adorned with a funky retro design.

The seat is height adjustable which is great for increasing the lifespan of the toy. The blurb says the scooter is a great way to promote a sense of balance.

It has pretty good reviews all round, and the kids seem to love it.
