Thomas The Tank Engine Rotating Eyes Wall Clock £9.95 @ Zavvi

By Sarah Kensington in Deals on 18 July, 2010 at 10:00 am

Thomas The Tank Engine Rotating Eyes Wall Clock £9.95 @ Zavvi“PEEP PEEP! It’s time to go!” says Thomas.

I haven’t posted any Thomas the Tank Engine deal for quite a while (well it feels like it anyway) and whilst there are numerous Thomas wall clocks up for grabs on the market, this one is probably my favourite.

There’s not a HUGE amount I can tell you about it – I mean, it’s a clock! It’s round and it has two hands, a big one and a small one, and they point to any one or two of the 12 numbers on the face!

Facitiousness aside, this Thomas the Tank Engine wall clock features Thomas on the front (obviously) and his eyes ROTATE!

Maybe I’m easily pleased but with my vast experience of watching Thomas the Tank Engine on VHS and DVD over the years, his rolling of eyes when he gets all excited is one of his endearing character traits.

Thomas The Tank Engine Rotating Eyes Wall Clock £9.95 @ ZavviIf you’ve got a little Thomas fan then this rotating eyes wall clock will help them learn to tell the time and could just see them rolling their OWN eyes in excitement, just like Thomas.

Zavvi have reduced the price of this cute little clock from £14.99 down to £9.95 and all orders within the UK are freee.

PEEP PEEP!

4 In-A-Box Thomas Jigsaw Puzzles £2.99 @ Play.com

By Sarah Kensington in Deals on 12 June, 2010 at 5:00 pm

 4 In A Box Thomas Jigsaw Puzzles £2.99 @ Play.comI loved jigsaw puzzles as a kid – I had a Rescuers one – in fact, I like jigsaw puzzles as a ‘grown-up’!

Four puzzles for the price of one, you can’t say fairer than that!

Each puzzle has a different number of pieces  – 12, 16, 20 and 24 – so as your child’s puzzle confidence grows they can move on to the next one for more of a challenge. Each puzzle measures 19 x 14 cms and is suitable for all Thomas fans as long as they’re three years old or more.

Puzzles are great for getting young minds to work hard without them realising it, I loved watching all my kids concentrating really hard on trying to work out which piece went where, and the utter triumph they felt when that last piece fitted in and completed the picture.  They’re also very good for developing fine motor skills too – a fab all-rounder in my opinion.

4 In A Box Thomas Jigsaw Puzzles £2.99 @ Play.comPlay have reduced the price of this Thomas 4-in-a-box puzzle from £5.99 down to £2.99 which makes it absolutely ideal for birthday present pressies – maybe get a couple and stick them in the ‘emergency present’ drawer.

There’s no delivery charges to pay when order from Play.com either so all in all this great little deal!

Thomas the Tank Engine Library Collection £30 @ The Book People

By Lynley Oram in Deals on 11 June, 2010 at 8:00 am

Thomas the Tank Engine Library Collection £30 @ The Book PeopleThis is a collection of the original Rev Awdry stories, based mostly around Thomas the Tank Engine. His first story was published in 1945. I wonder if the good vicar had any sort of inkling just how much his creation was going to take over the pre-school world in years to come? The Book People are offering the entire box set for £30. According to the website, the RRP is £130.

If you’re only used to the TV series spin offs then you’ll find these books a little bit different. For one thing, the Fat Controller has a different name to start with – he’s the Fat Director. Also, the stories are a lot longer than you might be used to! Something to keep in mind if your little one is keen on having stories read aloud.

Thomas the Tank Engine Library Collection £30 @ The Book PeopleThe first story might have been published more than half a century ago, but the books remain timeless. I only have a few of these books for my little Thomas the Tank Engine obssessive, but I love the ‘real book’ feel of them. The hard cover, and proper paper pages. This does mean that they can be prone to ripping if your little one is a bit heavy handed. I love the original illustrations too.

In this box set you get all 26 of Rev Awdry’s original stories.

Load ‘N’ Go Thomas £5.99 @ Play

By Sarah Kensington in Deals on 4 June, 2010 at 10:00 am

Load N Go Thomas £5.99 @ Play“Peeep Peeeeeeep! Happy Friday everyone!” says Thomas

Ok so Thomas didn’t wish you a happy Friday, but I did – Happy Friday everyone! – and it will be a GREAT Friday for any of our Thomas mad PlayPennies youngsters if their lovely parents buy this for them (that’s you by the way *grin*).

I wonder if Thomas the Tank Engine’s popularity will EVER fade…?  Did you know that the Rev W Awdry first told his three-year-old son, Christopher, a story about steam engines that could talk way back in 1942?  That effectively makes Thomas 68 years old…I think he’s probably here to stay, don’t you!

This Load n Go Thomas looks fab.  It’s nice and simple and if I know kids aged 18 months or more (which I do)  it will provide hours of entertainment, even though to us grown-ups it doesn’t appear to really do very much.

Load N Go Thomas £5.99 @ PlaySo, basically, you have Thomas and Trevor; you pull back Trevor and then let him go, he drives towards Thomas and goes up the flat-bed trailer that Thomas is pulling.  As soon as Trevor is on board Thomas then drives off and takes them on an adventure.

The adventure is in the product blurb and it did make me chuckle, just think of all the rip-roaring adventures they’re going to have driving across your lounge carpet!  But as I said, if you’re around 18 months this is going to be awesome.

It’s another half-price bargain from Play, being reduced from £11.99 down to £5.99!

Vtech Vsmile Thomas & Friends Game Console £19.99 @ Play

By Sarah Kensington in Deals on 31 May, 2010 at 8:00 am

Vtech Vsmile Thomas & Friends Game Console £19.99 @ Play“Peep Peep!” said Thomas, “save £20 and grab yourself a bargain!”

I was going to kick off this GLORIOUSLY sunny day Bank Holiday Monday with a fabulous outdoor summer deal – but the gloriously sunny bit looks like it’s going to be nothing more than wishful thinking, so I found a Thomas deal to lead with instead.

This Vtech Vsmile Thomas and Friends is usually £39.99 but Play.com have slashed that price in half and are giving it away for £19.99 – I just had a quick look-see on Amazon and they’re currently selling it for £31.77.

It’s very reminiscent of the Sega Mega Drive I had back-in-the-day with its game cartridges that you just plugged in to the console (wow, I wish I still it – I was ace at Super Hangon).

It comes with a karaoke microphone and joystick with drawing pad and pen and the Thomas and Friends ‘Engines Working Together’ game – karaoke with Thomas…awesome! – and you can store up to nine game cartridges in the storage bit at the back.

What it DOESN’T come with, which I think is totally ridiculous, is a mains adapter!  Vtech aren’t daft and produce some great toys and products for kids but why on earth they see fit not to include an adapter with this is beyond me – perhaps I should find a battery bargain next!

Vtech Vsmile Thomas & Friends Game Console £19.99 @ PlayHowever, if you don’t have shares in Duracell or have an endless stash of rechargeable batteries, you could always do what one canny parent did – go to your local pound shop (or anywhere that sells cheapo electrical bits and pieces), pick up a universal 9v mains adapter plug and Robert is your  mother’s sister’s husband.

Reviews from parents are mixed but by all accounts the kids LOVE it!

Thomas Books with CD £2.99 each @ The Book People

By Sarah Kensington in Deals on 19 May, 2010 at 10:00 am

Thomas Books with CD £2.99 each @ The Book PeopleYou might have some of these Thomas books already, but do you have a read-along CD to go with them….?

There are lots of these little Thomas books in my house and you can tell which ones are the favourites, they’re the ones with the curly corners and creased front covers.  We don’t have any Thomas story CDs though and my youngest is at an age now where he’d love to listen and try to read along for himself.

The Book People have reduced the price of these books from £6.99 to £2.99 and you can choose from:

Thomas Books with CD £2.99 each @ The Book PeopleAlthough the books are aimed at children aged between three to five, I know that my kids have all enjoyed listening to story CDs from a much earlier age…although the older ones didn’t have CDs as stories were still on cassette!

I’m hoping there are more Thomas books with CDs; I’ll be keeping an eye out for them.

I can also offer you a free postage code too, so you’re only going to pay for the books – just put this code in the promotion code box in your basket: MAYPP

Thomas & Percy Megasketcher £9.99 @ Tomy

By Sarah Kensington in Deals on 17 May, 2010 at 6:00 pm

Thomas & Percy Megasketcher £9.99 @ TomyPEEP PEEEEP! Calling all budding line artists!

Put a Thomas the Tank Engine and Percy slant on that old classic the etch-a-sketch and what do you have?  Very happy Thomas and Percy fans that’s what and very happy parents as this has been reduced from £24.99 to £9.99.

Your little steam engine fans can draw their favourite engine on this special screen which, apparently, makes for super clear pictures.  There’s a no.1 stamper for Thomas and a no.6  for Percy and there are special grooves where you can position their wheels.

Thomas & Percy Megasketcher £9.99 @ TomyOther features, that our original etch-a-sketches didn’t have, include a Fat Controller button that you can press to play the Thomas theme tune and make the wheels of the train turn and the track move!

To clear the screen and start again you just need to pull down Harold the Helicopter and create another magnetic art masterpiece – click HERE if you fancy having a go online…my attempt was rubbish!

The Thomas and Percy megasketcher takes 3 AA batteries (did you take out shares in Duracell yet? (other battery makes are available *grin*)) and postage is going to set you back £3.95.

Thomas Free Standing Storage and Shelves £36 @ Mail Order Express

By Sarah Kensington in Deals on 12 May, 2010 at 6:00 pm

Thomas Free Standing Storage and Shelves £36 @ Mail Order Express“Peep peeeep! Time to tidy up now,” said Thomas.

Ok, so Thomas doesn’t really say that but my four-year-old believes he does and quite enjoys tidying up as a result and a tidy toddler IS a result!

These shelves and big drawers are just fab – lots of storage for all the bits and pieces that toddlers accumulate and being free-standing they can be moved around easily.

I have to be very careful when I write about Thomas things that they don’t get spotted by the aforementioned tidy toddler otherwise I never hear the end of it and this paticular item is just his cup of tea.

I can’t find any dimensions for you but I did come across a glowing review on Amazon – here’s what it said…

“This storage unit was purchased for my son’s 2nd birthday. He has a Thomas themed bedroom. He loved it from the moment he saw it on the box. I loved it too beacause as someone who does NO DIY it was SO easy to put together using the clip mechanisim with no screws…the drawers are material so I know my son won’t pull them out and hurt himself, the shelves are fixed really well and hold a good number of books and everything is at an accessable height for my 2year old. Im really pleased with this purchase and would reccomend it to anyone who was thinking about buying its much better than the Thomas toy storage boxes out there. Thanks!

So there you go!  Delivery is free (we always like that) and if you use this 10% discount code  – spring10 – at the checkout the published price of £39.99 reduces down to £36.

“Peep peep! What a bargain!!” said Thomas (yeah, ok I made that one up too but I bet he WOULD say it!)

Thomas the Tank Engine Money Bank £2.99 @ M&M

By Sarah Kensington in Deals on 20 March, 2010 at 11:00 am

Thomas the Tank Engine Money Bank £2.99 @ M&MNow THIS is a great way to encourage kids to be responsible with money

Introduce your little Thomas fan to the wonderful world of finance and get them saving right from the very word go – well, actually from 3 years onwards due to small bits it says in the item blurb.

Fve pence peices are ideal swallowing size too so just make sure they can’t get their sticky mitts on this until they are old enough not to want to eat money – they’ll forever take ever last penny you have, but just as long as they don’t choke on it that’s ‘fine’.

Thomas the Tank Engine Money Bank £2.99 @ M&MSo, Thomas – he doesn’t do anything! No flashing lights, no “PEEP! PEEEEP!” noises or steam noises or snippets of the, by now, ohhhh so familiar Thomas soundtrack; no moving parts, no batteries required, he just sits and looks after your child’s cash.

Now this really appeals to me in a Thomas world full of noise and lights and going broke to not having shares in Duracell (other batteries are available hur hur), it’s nice to just have something simple.

The rrp on this little Thomas treasure is £12.99 so you’ll save yourself a tenner – hey, maybe you could put it in the money box when it arrives and get your child’s savings off to a flying start!  It was just an idea *grin*
