Toy Story Zipperobe £19.99 @ Big Red Warehouse

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 28 March, 2012 at 9:00 am

Toy Story Zipperobe £19.99 @ Big Red WarehouseThe folks over at Big Red Warehouse are 'giving away' these Toy Story Zipperobe wardrobes for £19.99, rather than their full price of £49.99.

If you've got a young Toy Story fan in your family, and you're in need of some extra clothing storage for them, then you might just want to take a look at this Toy Story zipperobe - I think it's a daft name for a kid's wardrobre that has a material cover and zips up the front, but that's just my opinion.

I don't know about you but when my kids were younger, their clothes seemed to multiply faster than anything known to man! I'm not quite sure how this happened, but I always seemed to be running out of storage space for all their outfits.

This Toy Story Zipperobe has a full front zip opening, the material is wipe clean (very good idea) and comes flat packed - the good new is you don't need any tools (apparently) to put it together.  It measures 160H x 90W x 50Dcm and is suitable for young Space Rangers or cowboys aged three years and over.

Happy zipperobing!

Up To Half Price On Storage @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 2 January, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Up To Half Price On Storage @ ArgosArgos have up to 50% off on household storage items, so if you’re planning a new year clear-out or getting optimistically ready for spring cleaning, this is a pretty good time to do so. With prices starting at £4.49, you’re sure to find something!

I went in search of wicker baskets for the soon-to-be-with-us baby’s reusable nappies just before Christmas, and now I wish I’d waited, to be honest. I had no idea wicker baskets were so expensive. And then being limited to ones that would fit inside the shelf space we  have available was really constrictive too and seriously added to the price! As it happens the only suitable ones I found were also lined, so they’re really pretty, but wow… they are so expensive!

At the same time we’ve had to move most of my daughter’s toys into the living room, which is something I’ve always been against, so now I’m in search of storage so that our communal space doesn’t look like a toy shop!

Argos have a 4 Drawer Plastic storage tower in Pink with 20% off selling at £15.99, which would probably be great for arts and crafts items that end up everywhere. The same thing is available in silver for £9.99.

They also have a gorgeous wooden storage seat box which is reduced from £39.99 to £19.99.

And then, the confounded wicker baskets?  A set of 5, that’s five, light Maizeleaf Storage Baskets for just £9.99.

*sigh*

Ben 10 Or In The Night Garden Fabric Wardrobe £6.50 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 17 September, 2011 at 9:00 am

Ben 10 Or In The Night Garden Fabric Wardrobe £6.50 @ TescoIf you need some cheap wardrobe space for your child(ren) then you could do worse than take a look at these fabric wardrobes currently for sale at Tesco.

When my children were younger, their clothes seemed to multiply faster than anything known to man!

I’m not quite sure how this happened, but I always seemed to be running out of storage space for all their outfits and whilst I wanted lots of extra hanging space, I didn't want to spend lots of money on it.

I don't recall these fabric wardrobes being around when the Teenagers were young enough to have appreciated them, but they would have been absolutely ideal.

There's a Ben 10 fabric wardrobe for fans of the young alien hunter, or an In the Night Garden version for the less extra-terrestrial kids.

Each one is just £6.50, so if your child has more clothes than Suri Cruise then you can easily afford to pick up two.

Each one has two full-width hanging rails and three shelves stacked down one side.

Home delivery is £5 with Tesco, so if you can arrange to collect for free in-store then do.

Cheap And Free Storage Ideas For Children's Rooms And Toys

by Lynley Oram in Features on 12 September, 2011 at 1:00 pm

Cheap And Free Storage Ideas For Children's Rooms And ToysAs I write this I'm sitting in my lounge, surrounded by toys. I don't mind really, it is only a few short years really that they're children and I'm happy to give up my adult space for that time. What I do find difficult is keeping it all organised, in a way that keeps sets and types of toys together making them easy to find again. And also in a way that helps to keep the clutter to a minimum in the family living areas.

Having well and truly blown this month's budget on frivolous things like new school uniform and shoes, I needed options or ideas that are cheap or preferably free to do.

Toy Story Pop Up Tidy, Bin And Storage Bag £5.00 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 5 July, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Toy Story Pop Up Tidy, Bin And Storage Bag £5.00 @ TescoAnything that encourages kids to be tidy has to be a good thing; Tesco are selling this Toy Story Pop Up Tidy, bin and storage bag for £5.00 instead of £10.00 - another good thing!

Pop up tidy storage 'things' (well, their not boxes are they so I'm not sure what else to call them) are marvellous inventions.

Quick and easy to 'pop up' and featuring all the favourite Toy Story characters, they are ideal for engaging in a bit of parental persuasion, "Woody would want you to be tidy and put your toys away," and "What would Buzz Lightyear think about all your toys being left laying around if he popped in to visit?"

I'm not beyond such underhanded behaviour, although I've found those tactics don't work with teenagers - posting pictures of the horror that is their bedrooms on Facebook for all their friends to see does though, and yes I have really done that - I enjoyed every minute of the fallout from it too *grin*

You don't have to use the pop up tidy for toys though, you could use it as a laundry basket and the storage bag could be used as a PE kit bag or for stashing swimming stuff.

Delivery will cost you another £5.00 which isn't such a deal, so click and collect for free instead if you can.

Boys And Girls Raffia Toy Baskets £7.50 @ John Lewis

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 28 June, 2011 at 8:00 am

Boys And Girls Raffia Toy Baskets £7.50 @ John Lewis John Lewis have some rather lovely raffia toy baskets, for boys and girls, on sale for £7.50 at the moment; they were originally £20.

It's a strange 'law' of the universe that no matter how much storage you buy, you never have enough of it.

It's my youngest's fifth birthday on Sunday and his dad has been desperately trying to clear out some of the toys he doesn't play with any more to make  way for all the new things that will be heading their way.

It seems to be the 'done thing' to invite your whole school class to birthday parties these days, which means you're going to end up with 30, or so, new things and bits and pieces of plastic tat which are all going to need places to 'live' in your house.

New babies often accumulate a ton of toys and things to amuse them; just face facts, have kids - need storage.

I really like these raffia baskets, they're far more elegant than lurid coloured plastic tubs and boxes - I rather fancy them even though I don't need them!

They're only going to be available whilst stocks last, so if you like them too I'd hurry up and order a couple.  Standard delivery is £3 or you can click and collect for free.

Dolls House Wall Shelf £29.99 @ Half Cost

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 14 June, 2011 at 7:00 pm

Dolls House Wall Shelf £29.99 @ Half Cost

I must admit, I’ve never even heard of Half Cost before, but they have this really pretty dolls house shaped wall shelf available for £29.99, which I think is rather good.

We’re just busy decorating my daughter’s first ever bedroom, and eagerly await delivery of her big girl bed this week. We have tried to make it as calm and pretty a place as possible, with as little pink as we could get away with, but I must admit, for this lovely wall shelf, I’d make an exception.

I love the three drawers along the bottom – they seem ideal for packing away the little things that always seem to end up everywhere and impossible to find, like craft items, Duplo pieces or whatever other little odds and ends will go in there.

The two shelves are perfect for books – there’s no sense of scale, but I’d probably put soft books and hardboard books at the bottom in easy reach, and the more ‘read together’ books at the top, and then to top it off, a lovely carved pink gabled roof.

The wall shelf is 93 x 57cm (37 x 22") and delivery will cost you £3.99 to mainland UK destinations.

Three Tier Toy Basket Storage Unit £13.49 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 22 April, 2011 at 9:00 am

Three Tier Toy Basket Storage Unit £13.49 @ Argos

These three tier toy basket storage units from Argos tend to come round from time to time and they tend to go down really well. I guess we’re all fighting the same battle against the constant stream of stuff?  Well, for £13.49 you can add nine baskets to your life, in the hope of reducing the clutter.

Truth be told, there’s absolutely no reason why these have to be just for toys. I’m pretty certain they’ll be just as useful as a craft basket, in the garage for odds and ends or a spot for magazines and newspapers to live before they go to the recycling. Whatever purpose you find for these, I’m sure they’ll do well.

The three tier storage unit isn’t massive, so be prepared for that. It’s only 65×64.5×30cm in size, but should at least get the bits of Lego and Duplo out from under your feet.

This set is flat packed and does require a bit of assembly, and it is available in pink and purple too.

Thomas Toy Box £19.99 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 28 March, 2011 at 8:00 am

Thomas Toy Box £19.99 @ AmazonAmazon are selling this Thomas Toy Box for £19.99 instead of £59.99.

It doesn't seem to matter how much kids storage you have there's never enough of it and you always need more! But even when you have more you STILL don't have enough; it’s almost as if we think ‘have storage, must fill it!’

The time for spring cleaning is upon and us and now is the perfect opportunity to sort out and tidy up all the toys, junk models and other childhood paraphernalia that your child has been accumulating.

It can all be neatly stored away what's left in this rather nifty Thomas Toy Box.

It's bright and cheerful too and has two sections – if you’ve got twins then this is ideal! One twin can stash their things in one half, and the other twin theirs in the other!

I’m sure any young Thomas fan will be MORE than happy to put all their things away in their Thomas Toy Box after a hard day playing; anything that encourages youngsters to be tidy can only be a GOOD thing in my book, the trick is to still have them being tidy when they reach the dreaded teenage years!

Happy Storing!

Pink Trunki Travel Toy Box £10.88 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 27 January, 2011 at 8:00 am

Pink Trunki Travel Toy Box £10.88 @ AmazonThis pink Trunki Travel Toy Box usually costs £19.99, Amazon are currently selling them for £10.88.

As big fans of anything Trunki, here at PlayPennies, we all went, “Ooooh….!” when the words Trunki Toy box were uttered.

Kids love to push things around - you, their brothers and/or sisters and their toy boxes.  All of my children used to put things in boxes and proceed to push them around the lounge.

Have more than one Trunki Toy Box? Join them together and you've got yourself a Trunki Toy Box train which is just perfect for your children and their friends to scoot around en masse.

It can be a cart, it can be a rocker so you can rock your teddies off to sleep (very important for tired teddies and imaginative play).

All we need now is a Gruffalo set of Trunki Toy Boxes and we’ll be very VERY happy indeed!

There are blue Trunki Toy Boxes available too, but these are selling for a little more at £14.99.

Kidspace Four Drawer Underbed Storage £22.00 @ Woolworths.co.uk

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 31 December, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Kidspace Four Drawer Underbed Storage £22.00 @ Woolworths.co.ukStorage space is always a massive problem in our house – not really because we have too much stuff, but rather because we have too few cupboards. If you're in the same situation, these under bed storage boxes could come in handy – especially if there's a new mountain of toys after Christmas!

I must admit, I'd not have paid £99.00 for them – half-cut decorated cardboard boxes will suffice for under the bed, thank you very much, but at £22.00 I'm definitely willing to give them a chance!

There are two reviews for this, and both would recommend them, but also say that you should just check the measurements first and make sure they'll fit under the bed.

The drawers are actually made to go with the Kidspace bed, and suit the single bed, bunk-bed and Trio bunk-bed, but will fit under beds of 25.5cm height.

For some reason, the red four drawer set is still £99.00, and the black and pink are unfortunately out of stock now, but the blue and lilac are still in stock.

Add a £6.95 delivery fee and you should be able to start finding order in your child's room again within 14 days.

Happy New Year folks! Have a good New Year's Eve!

Peppa Pig Zipperobe £16 @ Boots

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 30 December, 2010 at 11:00 am

Peppa Pig Zipperobe £16 @ BootsBoots have a lovely half price offer on this Peppa Pig Zipperobe! It's £16 now instead of £32.

"A zipper-what?" I hear you ask!

I did too, the first thing that sprang to mind was a dressing gown that zipped up.  But no, it's not one of those - it's a wardrobe that has a canvas cover which zips up.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, you can NEVER have too much storage whether it's for toys or clothes.

I don't know about you but when my kids were younger, their clothes seemed to multiply faster than anything known to man! I'm not quite sure how this happened, but I always seemed to be running out of storage space for all their outfits.

I can't find any dimensions for the Peppa Pig Zipperobe (zipperobe...it's such a daft name, why not just call it a Peppa Pig canvas warbrobe..?) but I can't imagine it's going to be a huge beast of a thing when it's for small people's clothes!

It comes flat-packed and the good news is you don't need any tools to put it together.

You can arrange to collect your Peppa Pig canvas wardrobe/Zipperobe for free from a Boots store, or delivery will be within four working days and will cost you about £3.

4-Drawer Plastic Storage Unit £10 @ Wilkinsons

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 28 December, 2010 at 9:00 am

4-Drawer Plastic Storage Unit £10 @ WilkinsonsYou can never have too much storage! These plastic drawer storage solutions are great and have SO many uses!

In the kids bedroom for toys, in the bathroom for wet toys or bathroom bits,  in the utility room for all the junk that tends to accumulate there but for some reason mustn’t be thrown away.

Under worktops in the kitchen for extra pots and pan storage maybe, in the garage for all the things you keep in the garage that usually end up in a pile in the corner somewhere, like small garden toys, tennis balls, footballs etc.

If you have a very arty child then these plastic drawers are an ideal way of keeping pens, pencils, paper, rubbers, paints, paintbrushes and all the other arty-farty paraphernalia they accumulate in one place, and all neat and tidy.

Christmas time brings with it a while host of new toys that all need to be found homes, plastic drawers can help you out!

This four-drawer plastic storage unit from Wilkinsons was £20 but they're currently giving them away for £10 - I don't image they'll stay in stock for too long, so if you want one or two then I suggest you don't dawdle in placing your order.

You can collect your order from your local Wilkos or you can arrange to have them delivery your plastic drawers for £4.95.

Happy storing stuff!

Three Tier Basket Unit £16.99 @ Argos

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 30 September, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Three Tier Basket Unit £16.99 @ Argos

Maybe its because I'm in the middle of a house move that this nine piece storage unit from Argos appealed to me. The thought of more organisation for £16.99 – a £10.00 saving – seems like angel song right about now!

  • Click here to fly on over to Argos
  • I don't think anyone particularly enjoys packing everything they own in to boxes, but this time seems so much harder. It might have something to do with the toddler unpacking at about the same rate as I pack. Or it might be that everything is anywhere that we could find a spot for it, rather than in any sort of sensible order.

That's where these red, yellow and blue storage bins would have been handy. Resting in a natural wooden frame the nine colourful boxes provide ideal storage for toys, books, baby shoes and socks, bibs, and a multitude of other items that otherwise end up under the sofa or the bed.

Requiring minimal assembly and available in store or online, there doesn't seem to be much need for the scattering of, well, everything, on my floor. Easy to move, the unit does not take up a huge amount of space, while still being big enough to make an impact.

Reviews for this item are very positive, with the only negative being the price – a problem addressed with this £10 off offer.

Flexible Kids Tubtrugs £4.49 @ Sainsburys

by Tamsin Oxford in Deals on 25 August, 2010 at 4:00 pm

Flexible Kids Tubtrugs £4.49 @ SainsburysSainsburys currently have a bunch of these tubtrugs reduced by 75% and the kids range are down to £4.49. You can also get recycled ones for the garden that come in black, or different sets of kids ones in different colours. They are all down to £4.49, which is quite a nice bargain for storage.

I’ve never heard of these before and I absolutely love the name. It makes me think of fat trains and other such insane things. Yes, I probably do need help. I rather like these storage tins, they look big enough to store the bits of toy matter that seem to evolve in the various rooms of the house.

Down from their usual price of £17.99 to only £4.49 they also feel like a big fat bargain. Wahey! Thanks to our limited space in our Flexible Kids Tubtrugs £4.49 @ Sainsburysnew house we are constantly eyeballing clever storage solutions. This isn’t quite right for us because no matter how handy they are, you can still see what they are holding and that is one of my pet hates.

Have a messy cupboard, fine, as long as nobody can see it! Anyway, these may be exactly what you’ve been looking for.

    Thanks to amibees at HUKD!
