Darth Vadar Lightsaber £29.99 @ Toys R Us

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 7 December, 2011 at 10:00 am

Darth Vadar Lightsaber £29.99 @ Toys R UsI'm buying this Darth Vadar Lightsaber for myself!  It's currently £29.99 instead of £39.99 and is going to be GREAT for the weekly lightsaber battles I engage in with my youngest son.

Star Wars has been part of my life for as long as I can remember; waiting for YEARS for the next movie to be released at the cinema was great (none of this only waiting six months to a year like we do these days) and then waiting for YEARS for them to be the big Christmas movie on TV.

Toy lightsabers aren't new though, I had one when I was little - it was a red Darth Vadar lightsaber too - but it was rubbish compared to today's Darth Vadar lightsaber as it just glowed red when you turned it on.

Now, the Darth Vadar lightsaber makes all the right noises at all the right times and I'm going to HAVE one!  You see, I always have to be the bad guy and be the one to get killed (even though my lightsaber skills are pretty epic) when I play lightsabers with my youngest son.

I have a Star Wars lightsaber app on my iPhone, so we battle with the lights off (it's much more 'scary' then which, apparently, is a good thing) with Star Wars music playing in the background.

You can collect your Darth Vadar lightsaber in-store for free or pay £4.95 for home delivery.

May the Force be with you!

Star Wars Top Trumps Tournament £21.49 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 11 November, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Star Wars Top Trumps Tournament £21.49 @ PlayOoooh it's a close call but Play have trumped Amazon in the price for this Star Wars Top Trumps Tournament set - okay, only by three pence but they've been trumped all the same.

Top Trumps card sets have always been a traditional stocking filler in my family; you could always rely on my mum to have bought the kids various packs of Top Trumps, and we'd invariably spend late Christmas day afternoon trying to top trump each other.

She had to buy new packs every year because the, now, teenagers were rubbish at putting all the cards back in their plastic case when they were finished (you know how that goes!).  I've just been speaking to my eldest about it and he reliably informed me that playing with missing cards just made it more interesting *sigh*

Now, this Star Wars Top Trumps Tournament really IS going to be the last thing I'm buying for my youngest for Christmas! I said that last week and ended up buying him the Lego Star Wars Minifigure clock I told you about (Darth Vadar in the end) so after these Star Wars Top Trumps I'm going to be STRONG, otherwise I'll be broke!

So, this Star Wars Top Trumps Tournament set features six different Star Wars themed Top Trumps decks of cards - one of them is a 'Star Wars Top 30 Moments' and only available with the game, it's not sold separately - and between two and six players play mini games to compete for the chance to win the Tournament Finale; awesome.

Play are selling Star Wars Top Trumps Tournament for £21.49 at the moment (Amazon - £21.52; trumped!) and there's no delivery to pay if you're having it delivered to the UK mainland.

Happy Top Trumping!

LEGO Star Wars Minifigure Clocks £19.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 3 November, 2011 at 12:00 pm

LEGO Star Wars Minifigure Clocks £19.99 @ ArgosOh for goodness SAKE!  Just when I think I'm done with Christmas presents for my youngest son, these LEGO Minifigure clocks come to my attention!  They look COOL and they currently have a cool 20% off at Argos too, bringing them down to £19.99 from £24.99.

Both clocks have a digital LCD display with backlight and an AM/PM indicator; there's the all-important snooze function too and come with the two AAA batteries they need to operate.

The LEGO Storm Trooper minifigure clock measures H23 x W14 x D8 cms, whilst the LEGO Darth Vadar minifigure clock is slightly 'deeper' at 9.5cms - I guess it was him who ate all the pies!

Both LEGO minifigure clocks come gift boxed and I can just picture one of them sitting by the side of my son's bed.  It's a tough call though - Darth Vadar or the Storm Trooper?  I'm leaning more towards the Storm Trooper to be honest, but that's only because Darth Vadar used to scare me when I was little.

Both are available to reserve and collect in-store, or you can pay £5.95 and have them delivered to your home.

Star Wars The Complete Saga (Blu Ray) £57.37 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 29 August, 2011 at 11:00 am

Star Wars The Complete Saga (Blu Ray) £57.37 @ TescoThe Star Wars Complete Saga Blu ray box set is now available to pre-order; it's release date is 12 September and Tesco are currently offering 15% off Star Wars movies and games, bringing the Complete Saga price down to a guaranteed £57.37 instead of £67.49.

Amazon and all the other usual suspects are pre-selling Star Wars The Complete Saga box sets for £67.49, so if you want to save yourself a tenner don't go to them.

I've been waiting for The Complete Saga to be released for a g e s.

The original three Star Wars movies formed a massive part of my childhood; they'd be part of my desert island DVD collection if I was ever asked to compile such a thing.

I had the original movies in a box set once and then my youngest got seriously into them, they now live with him and I've been patiently waiting to replace them with The Complete Saga ever since.

This complete set of six movies is something I just want to own - I like things to be complete and just owning the first three films now wouldn't be good enough because ONE day I fully intend to sit down and have a Star Wars Day where I watch all six back to back.

Please don't forget to add the 15% Star Wars discount code to your basket - 15SW-1 - otherwise you'll pay full price for it.

Star Wars General Grevious Lightsaber £17.48 @ Asda Direct

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 19 August, 2011 at 10:00 am

Star Wars General Grevious Lightsaber £17.48 @ Asda DirectI have this!

Ooops, rather - my youngest son has this Star Wars General Grevious Lightsaber; it's great and what's just as great?  Asda Direct selling it for half price, £17.48 instead of £34.97.

My youngest is too cute and incredibly funny; it doesn't matter how many times he watches the Star Wars movies, or the cartoon Clone Wars, and HEARS everyone saying 'lightsaber', he absolutely flatly REFUSES to accept that it's not 'lightSAVER'.

I've had many a lightSABER battle with this Star Wars General Grevious piece of kit and, even as a grown up Star Wars fan knowing it's a toy, there's something rather thrilling about holding such an elegant weapon, from a more civilised age.

So, you get two lightsabers - one green and one blue - that make properly realistic lightsabre noises, the power-up noise is particularly awesome (my favourite, in fact).

You also get a 'spinning wheel' to attach your lightsabers to - there's a handle in the middle, which you grip, the wheel has two ports that you plug your lightsabers into and then that whole wheel spins round.

You can use the wheel with one lightsaber too, but with both plugged in you get a deadly weapon that's over four feet long; AWESOME!

If you're a Star Wars fan (young or old) then I guarantee you'll have a lot of fun playing with this Star Wars General Grevious Lightsaber.

May the force be with you!

Star Wars AT-ST Vehicle £19.99 @ Argos

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 28 May, 2011 at 1:00 pm

Star Wars AT-ST Vehicle £19.99 @ ArgosArgos are selling this Star Wars AT-ST Vehicle for less than half price, it was originally £49.99 but is up for grabs for £19.99.

Looking at this Star Wars AT-ST vehicle takes me right back to watching Return of the Jedi as a kid at the movies - remember when Hans Solo, Leia and Chewy were on Endor to disable the shield around the under-construction replacement Death Star?

(I've suddenly got the fear that someone is going to tell me that ACTUALLY the movie I'm thinking of was Empire, but my brain is hurting with trying to run through both movies super fast so if I've got it wrong...SORRY!)

Anyway, Hans Solo and Princess Leia are trying to break into the shield 'whatever' building with R2-D2 when an AT-ST vehicle comes striding out of the forest and points its guns at them; the hatch then opens and to everyone's relief (the whole cinema included) it's Chewy inside; hurrah!

This particular Star Wars At-ST vehicle has articulated legs so you can pose it mid-stride.  It comes with an AT-ST Driver figure, who fits inside, and of course wouldn't be complete with weapons, missiles and instructions.

Darth Vadar Voice Changer £23.99 @ Toys R Us

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 14 May, 2011 at 1:00 pm

Darth Vadar Voice Changer £23.99 @ Toys R UsOHHH I'm too excited about this one; go and grab this Darth Vadar voice changer helmet for £23.99 and feel the Force this weekend!

Darth Vadar terrified me as a kid; that wheezy breathing was enough to make my heart pound with fear, I loved it.

My youngest is a big Star Wars fan and I showed him the GREAT Volkswagen advert last night with the little lad dressed up as Darth Vadar trying to use the Force - if you haven't seen it click HERE it's very funny, it just makes me chuckle every time.

Now, the price for this Darth Vadar voice changer helmet, on the Toys R Us website, is £29.99.

To your hands on it for £23.99 you're going to have to print off the 20% off everything at Toys R Us discount voucher that Lynley told you about yesterday, and beetle off to your local Toys R Us store as it's valid instore and for this weekend only.

You're also going to need 3 AA batteries for your Darth Vadar voice changer helmet; after that all you'll need are some of his immortal lines and be generous enough to share this GREAT toy with your child *grin*

Star Wars: Darth Vader Dressing Gown £9.99 @ Play.com

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 16 April, 2011 at 2:00 pm

Star Wars: Darth Vader Dressing Gown £9.99 @ Play.com

Play have a Star Wars Darth Vader dressing gown on sale for £9.99 instead of £59.99 – which I initially thought was a mistake, since that's a £50 or 83% discount. This item also has free delivery.

Fathers day is a little way off yet, but with a price like this, can you afford not to be prepared? Especially if your name is Luke. Or not.

But seriously, if your partner or dad (or mum, for that matter) is a Star Wars fan, this is worth buying and keeping in the cupboard.

The reviewers were happy enough with it, with one feeling it was very cheaply made, but the rest not agreeing, although all felt it was thinner than they expected.

The dressing gown is made of 100% cotton velour, is “fabulously warm and cosy”. It has a Darth Vader helmet logo embroidered on the front, a cotton belt and two large pockets.

Millenium Falcon Model Kit £17.99 @ Play

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 23 March, 2011 at 12:00 pm

Millenium Falcon Model Kit £17.99 @ PlayPlay are selling this Millenium Falcon Model Kit for half price - £17.99 instead of £34.99.

Of all the Star Wars spaceships the Millenium Falcon is by far my favourite and, I think, one of the most iconic.

Shaped like a giant croissant, and always in need of repairs, she was regarded as piece of junk by most but, and allow me to quote Han Solo here, “She’ll make point five past lightspeed. She may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts, kid. I’ve made a lot of special modifications myself.”

YOU, on the other hand, won't have to make any modifications.

All you need to do is snap all of the 52 pieces of this Millenium Falcon model kit together and because there's no messy glue involved, you won't have to worry about getting told off.  Sorry...I mean, your CHILD won't have to worry about getting told off for covering everything in glue.

It comes with fully illustrated instructions and the parts are already painted for you; the wings move, it has laser canons (of course) and a moveable cockpit cover and two figures are also included.

I LOVE this Millenium Falcon model kit and my youngest would too; a marvellous bargain for us Star Wars fans.

Star Wars Millenium Falcon Model Kit £17.99 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 6 February, 2011 at 8:00 am

Star Wars Millenium Falcon Model Kit £17.99 @ AmazonOhhhh I'm in such big trouble, I W.A.N.T this *sigh* Amazon are selling this Star Wars Millenium Falcon Model Kit for £17.99 instead of £36.99.

"What a piece of junk!"

"She'll make point five past lightspeed. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid. I've made a lot of special modifications myself."

All self-respecting Star Wars fans will now be reciting other great Millenium Falcon lines in their heads (or out loud I suppose) and if you have no clue who uttered the immortal lines above, then you're either under 10 years old or have been living on a desert island for at least the last 30 years.

This Star Wars Millenium Falcon Model is great on so many levels, not least because this is the ship that made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs and can outrun outrun Imperial starships. Not the local bulk cruisers mind you, I'm talking about the big Corellian ships.

All 52 pieces snap together so you don't have to worry about getting covered in glue. It comes with fully illustrated instructions and the parts are already painted for you; the wings move, it has laser canons (of course) and a moveable cockpit cover and two figures are also included.

Star Wars Republic Gunship £39.99 @ Toys R Us

I. WANT. THIS!!! I want this Star Wars Republic Gunship and I want it NOW!

Tell me this is NOT cool! Go on, I DARE you! *waits patiently, listening....* Nope, I didn't think so.

You can't tell me this isn't going to make any self-respecting Star Wars officiando happy - whether you're four years old or 34 years old!

It's a beast of a gunship and when it comes to space ships, Star Wars or otherwise, BIGGER is most definitely better.

It features flip-open firing blaster cannons and has all sorts of other features and bits and pieces to make you feel like a real member of the Republic, engaged in battle against the evil Empire.

Also, if you spend over over £30 on Hasbro Star Wars toys, you'll get a free Nikto Pirate figure - just add the figure to your basket and his price is deducted at the checkout.

The Star Wars Republic gunship should be £79.99 but is up for grabs for half price -  I imagine it won't stay in stock for long!

Delivery, if you can't collect it from a Toys R Us store, is £4.95.

Star Wars Princess Leia Fleece Costume For Toddler £9.99 @ Play.com

by Luschka van Onselen in Deals on 29 September, 2010 at 7:00 pm

Star Wars Princess Leia Fleece Costume For Toddler £9.99 @ Play.comIt may be more than a little sad that my heart skipped a beat when I saw this Princess Leia outfit on sale at Play.com for £9.99, down 33% from £14.99.

Last Halloween my little girl was just four weeks old, which made shopping for her outfit a rather demanding and frustrating task. I spent days trundling around with a sleeping baby trying to find a suitable kit. We ended up with a very cute pumpkin costume and she was the smallest squash at the party, which, of course, she slept through.

This year it could be so different! Not only is she likely to stay awake through it all, but she could actually run around swishing a light sabre if she had one.

This really cute Princess Leia outfit comes with a headpiece, romper with removable cape and inner leg snap closure allowing for nappy changes with ease.

With dispatch and delivery taking up to two weeks, now is a great time to buy to make sure it arrives before Halloween.

Play.com are also offering Chewbacca and Darth Vader costumes at £9.99 each.

Star Wars Captain Rex Electronic Command Helmet 19.98 @ Tesco

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 10 August, 2010 at 9:00 am

Star Wars Captain Rex Electronic Command Helmet 19.98 @ TescoThis morning Tesco are my best friend as they've cut the price of this Star Wars Clone Wars Captain Rex electronic command helmet in half, reducing it from £39.97 down to £19.98.

I was bought up with the Star Wars movies; the original ones - Episode IV A New Hope, Episode V The Empire Strikes Back (THE best of them of all) and Episode VI Return of the Jedi (and even then I thought Jedi was a bit daft in places).

I'm really not that up to speed with the minutiae of the prequel episodes, and I frequently find myself being educated in the ways of the Clone Wars by my youngest.

I have no idea how on earth he managed to get so stuck on the Clone Wars rather than the other movies, but there you are. Captain Rex is definitely his favourite so this is electronic command helmet is going to be bought and stashed away in readiness for that event that happens in December.

Star Wars Captain Rex Electronic Command Helmet 19.98 @ TescoThere's not that much I can tell you about it really. It's suitable for kids over five and it features Jedi commands and will amplify your voice when  you wear it and make you sound a bit like Captain Rex (obviously).

It requires 2 AA batteries, which aren't included, and home delivery will cost you £5.95 if you don't/can't arrange to collect it for free in-store.

Star Wars: R2D2 Pocket Etch-A-Sketch £3.79 @ PlayHURRAH!  With this Star Wars R2D2 pocket etch-a-sketch I've scored a hatrick of Star Wars deals today!

R2D2 is one of my favourite Star Wars characters...oh, OK! I like ALL of them!

Star Wars played such a big part of my childhood; waiting for hours in queues that snaked down the streets from the cinema to go and see the next installment, that we'd waited YEARS for! Ahhh those were the days eh!

I still have no idea how a droid with no facial expressions and communicates with beeps can have have SUCH character, great comedy value and be hugely endearing...or is it just me that thinks this about R2?

Regardless, this Star Wars R2D2 pcoket etch-a-sketch is bound to be a big hit with your young Padawan, especially as it can be taken with you when you go out for entertainment whilst on the move!

Star Wars: R2D2 Pocket Etch-A-Sketch £3.79 @ PlayJust open up R2 to reveal the mini etch-a-sketch screen, draw away to your heart's content using the two knobs and shake to erase your artistic creation when you're done!

Star Wars: Darth Vader Bionic Arm Kit £7.99 @ PlayThere has to be balance in the Universe, so as the ying to the yang of my earlier Jedi post here's something from the Dark Side - a Star Wars Darth Vader bionic arm kit!

Today shall henceforth be known as Sarah's Star Wars day due to the awesome Star Wars deals that are out there in the big wide Internet world!

This Darth Vader bionic arm  kit is just the sort of thing you're looking for (said using my Jedi mind powers!) if you want an activity to do with your young Star Wars fan, that's both fun and educational at the same time.

Following the instructions, you'll build the robotic arm which will then be fully functional and able to grip and move object with you at the helm of the interactive controls. Kids will also learn how robotic arms are being used in medical science and how they mimic the way our own arms work.

The review I read explains how the arm is made up of snap-together parts, not so many that it becomes a nightmare but not too few that it's all over in half a minute. They also wrote: Fun - not too complex to build. rotates, and fingers grip and release via manual controls.

Star Wars: Darth Vader Bionic Arm Kit £7.99 @ PlayThe Star Wars Darth Vader Bionic Arm kit has been reduced by Play.com from £29.99 down to £7.99, and with no delivery to pay for orders within the UK you can grab yourself a bargain.

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 20 July, 2010 at 8:00 am

Star Wars: Force Trainer £29.99 @ PlayWe're HUGE Star Wars fans here at PlayPennies and this Force Trainer has got us just a little bit excited!

I've lost count of the number of times I wished I had Jedi powers! Can you imagine how useful it would be?

"Teenagers, you want to tidy up your bedrooms.  Tidy bedrooms are the way of life you've been looking for!" That, of course, along with the ability to move things with your mind would make life just a little bit more fun interesting.

What if I told you we ALL have this latter Jedi power just waiting to be unleased? Don't believe me? This Star Wars Force Trainer will prove it to you!

The wireless Force Trainer headset reads and interprets your brainwaves and the harder you, or your little Jedi, concentrate, the more the Jedi Training Remote will move!

With the help of the ever-awesome Master Yoda you will progress through 15 levels of Force Training, going from the rank of Padawan to that of Jedi Master.  This 'toy' (you can't call the Force a toy, it's just 'right') features all the  Star Wars sound effects you would expect to hear, along with lots of Yoda dialogue.

This Star Wars Force Trainer should retail at £99.99 but Play.com have cut that price right down to £29.99 (presumably with their cost-cutting light sabre) and all UK orders are delivered for free.

Star Wars Erupting Mustafar Volcano Kit £4.94 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 12 July, 2010 at 12:00 pm

Star Wars Erupting Mustafar Volcano Kit £4.94 @ AmazonStar Wars and science, that's as good a combination as Star Wars and Lego in my book!

I have been particularly fond of volcanoes ever since the one on the Eyjafjallajoekull glacier went beserk and saw my trip to South Africa extended for the best part of three weeks!

There's something very primordial about volcanoes and I remember my gramps telling me about the time he went up Mount Etna - I was utterly fascinated.

He had a knack of making learning fun which is something this Star Wars Erupting Mustafar Volcano kit does too! Young Star Wars fans will LOVE it but you don't have to be a lover of the George Lucas franchise to be able to enjoy this learning toy.

Your young scientist will learn all about volcanoes from the inside out with the help of the colour learning guide; they'll build the very detailed model and will be able to recreate eruptions, using kitchen ingredients (stocks of bicarbonate of soda could be needed here methinks!) , and watch the lava flow down the volcanic slopes!

Star Wars Erupting Mustafar Volcano Kit £4.94 @ AmazonPerfect - learning, Star Wars and GUNGE! There are two detailed models of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker too for wannabe Jedi Knights to play with too.

Amazon have reduced this down from £20 to just £4.94 and if you're in a rush to have it, there's no delivery to pay with the SuperSaver option.

LEGO Star Wars Luke's Landspeeder £19.93 @ Amazon

by Sarah Macdonald in Deals on 25 June, 2010 at 8:00 am

LEGO Star Wars Luke's Landspeeder £19.93 @ AmazonI always wanted a Landspeeder so I could shoot Womp Rats just like Luke Skywalker

I've said it before, but I'll say it again, the marriage between Lego and Star Wars is just magic and I quite often find myself oohing and aaahing over various Lego St Wars things.

I'm so grateful I have a young boy who is a BIG Star Wars fan and loves Lego too - I get to stack up lots of parental brownie points, he thinks I'm the greatest thing since...well, forever! AND I get to 'help' build all the Lego Star Wars models and play with them.

This Lego Luke's Landspeeder is just great, not least because it comes with a fair few of our favourite Star Wars legends: Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, R2-D2, C-3PO, a Sandtrooper and his security droid.

LEGO Star Wars Luke's Landspeeder £19.93 @ AmazonIt also has a secret lightsaber compartment (which no self-respecting Jedi's Landspeeder should be without!) and when it's built it measures over 6 inches (15 cm) long, over 2 inches (5 cm) wide and over 2 inches (5 cm) tall.

The reviews are excellent, Amazon have reduced this item down to £19.93 from £24.99 and course there's no delivery to pay with the SuperSaver option.
